  • After spending a week working in Kota Bharu managed to find a night market - Pasar Malam Buluh Kubu.
Here we tried some of Kelanatan's favourite local dishes -
    Ayam Percik
    Nasi Kerabu
    Murtabak Daging
    Seri Muka Kuih
    Akok
Kota Bharu has certainly wowed us in food choices. So much flavour and variety. This night market was an amazing experience and a great way to escape the daily grind.

The kuih serimuka pandan is 2 layers of glutinous rice and pandan custard. Malaysian all time favorite kuih. I think the kuihs nyonya that you have / you ate earlier at George town (Delish Asia) didn't have kuih serimuka I believe the white and green kuih was kuih talam pandan not kuih serimuka. Kuih Talam Pandan no glutinous rice, but both layers are made of flour. Kuih2 in Kelantan are Authentic Malays kuih. In my opinion, foods in Kelantan are the most delicious malay food in Malaysia. Enjoy the foods! Btw amazing vlog❤️👍🏻... .....kerabu actual meaning is salad not "to Wednesday" (direct lango translation) 😂

I love you guys. Even though I lived in Malaysia for nearly four years & now I'm back in London, I have learnt more about the different names of food & how they are made. You have certainly educated me with regards to this. I love Malaysia & often go for holidays there 2-3 times a year. I also miss fasting in the month of Ramadan there as its completely different from the atmosphere here in London. Great video. Keep it up.

Malaysian desserts or kuih mlare mostly used pandan leaves or coconut for it's prime flavour. Some people call kaya as Coconut Jam, Malaysian Custard or Pandan & Coconut Jam.

Ayam percik is pronounced ayam per-chick.
And if you're still in kelantan you should definitely go try nasi ulam cikgu. Its a restaurant serving rice with various dishes and ulam. So ulam is raw medicinal herbs usually eaten with condiments such as sambal or budu. And dont be afraid of ulam. Its tasty and good for u.
We malaysians say kelantanese people look younger than their age and one of the reasons for that is their diet. They consume a lot of ulam. Even in nasi kerabu there is one ulam in the ingredients.

Did you arrived at Kelantan during Malaysia General Election? If not then you missed a big celebration on the night before GE. It's like some kind of festival, packed on the road and on the side road. People mainly gather around Jalan Lundang(place). A bit noisy with motorcycle and car sounds tho but it was fun. Last but not least, how is your experience(people, food, etc) in Kelantan on the scale of 10? Be honest. Nobody gonna slam you. Thank You for visiting Kelantan. ✌️

Kelantan is definately the Syurga Kuih or Kuih Paradise 😂 especially during this Ramadhan, you can find sooooo many variation of kuih here that may looks like the same but different. For example the green small kuih that you guys have, that one is Ulat Bulu (caterpillar), judging from its oval and elongated appearance, filled with bean paste, not kaya 😂. It also comes with blue-ish color. And for the one that many of the viewers here said, Ondeh ondeh or Kuih Melaka, it is also small, round and green, but the filling is Gula Melaka (Melaka sugar) or locally known in kelantan as Nise (pronounce as 'knee-se). Once you bite it, the filling will come out, so put the whole thing inside your mouth before biting it to prevent any "tragedy" 😂. It will just burst in ur mouth. Btw, it is sooo hard to find a "mamak" stall in kelantan. The one that ur in in ur previous video is just local stall or thai stall (you can easily find thai people selling food in kelantan). And always remember to keep ur kuih in the fridge as they'll easily become stale if left out outside. Have a nice day!

Ayam percik (read: perchik) is actually has coconut sauce, white or pinkish if its spicy kind (mixed with grounded chillies). I'm not sure the ayam percik u guys had is called ayam percik too.
And kerabu is not to wednesday (ke rabu) haha..its a dad joke and play of words. i think kerabu refers to the desiccated coconut mixed with other ingredients.
If your'e still in KB, the best place for nasi kerabu is at 'Nasi Kerabu Bakar' at Berek 12 street, in front of Shell petrol station.
And you can try more Jalamas, Kuih Pelita from the bazaar.
Maybe you can try Colek Buah, Colek Ayam, Mango Pulut, ABC ice shave, etc at Restoran Ikan Bakar Kukup, Dusun Muda Street (opens at night)

actually you have to mix together all the nasi kerabu ingredients before you eat.... it is most delicious if you mix all the ingredients first and also the true ways how to eat nasi kerabu😋....... I heard you also say she(seller) put the curry into nasi kerabu actually it's not curry but we called budu.. 😉

NASI KERABU is actually rice eaten with fresh vegetable ceviche. it a mixed of several types of fresh leafy greens and cabbage which is thinly sliced. the other condiments are grated coconut fried without oil with fish and seasonings, boiled salted egg and gravy made out of chilli, coconut milk and onion. They have special chili sauce and anchovies sauce too. You can either eat with grill chicken or grill beef or fried fish. The rice may come in other color like Black (from a Daun SITAM / black leaf), blue (blue pea flower) white (uncolored) or yellow (tumeric). There's variety of it and it is all from natural ingredients.

the chicken that you ate is not Ayam Percik. it was just a regular bbq/ grilled chicken. The real ayam percik is grilled chicken smothered with creamy spicy sauce. Glad to see you are enjoying my hometown food!
