Anybody else have a head canon that these songs are all from the same captain, just at different stages of his life? “Tale of the Shadow” is the one who he has become, “Bones” is remembering how he became a captain in the first place, and now this one is when he faced doubts and fears as a cabin boy or other lower rank shipmate, and when he became confident enough to believe he could become captain one day, as if we’re on a journey through a captain’s memories, moving backwards through his life. Anybody else?

This is pure, last-man-alive stuff. The first verse with that one line, 0:14 "My blood is in the water, and the sharks are taking bets." That line goes so hard.

I personally think that the songs that are made by sail north start out perfect with tale of the shadow, get a hair bit worse with bones, get about a head worse with unsinkable, then gets a torso worse with compass. These are not objective, and if you enjoy the later songs good for you👍. But I still don’t like the more recent songs compared to the first two. Will update this after another listen.
