Poor Mash, she has been the designated cockblock character since the beginning and then there was the entire LB6 debacle. Its really easy to grow to dislike her, even with her being such a cinnamon roll.
2:37 I think it’s just the fact that in game more often than not other NPCs or servants tend to solve the issues or play a bigger role with or without the gudas help. For example in Olympus without gordolf, the og set of servants prior and the twins the gudas wouldn’t have any way of beating the gods yet wodime acts as tho all this was the gudas efforts and acts as tho he couldn’t have beaten them sooner even though them getting here was pure luck. It’s also just a lot of servants that do praise them ( like modern day cross over pseudo like hakuno, Aoko and raikou in the SR event) even though these characters either won’t have a clue for wat it means to be a good master or in the case if raikou and hakuno they’re either a master that has done similar things but instead the writers feel the need to say their better as master or a case like raikou where she says that yui couldn’t beat the gudas head on even though we know that she was very much capable of putting an entire grail war on lock down with sufficient resources and this grail war had tons of powerful servants making the statement feel completely out of left field.

India relied on a pretty simple trick to stop him and even then Arjuna Alter was breaking down himself as well cause of Douman who wanted to sabatoge him as well. Only thing that let us survive in Olympus was others premade plans which was the point. Britain was meant to die on it's own and would always die given how things played out and even Beryl said the original Lostbelt was a wasteland and a wasteland it would return with Oberons plan. We literally had to go through one hell of a loophole AND use the noble phantasm OF THE SERVANT OF CRYPTER just to have a chance to fight back. Olympus. Lostbelt 6 self destruction would have also destroyed everything outside of it. That means leaving it alone = all of us dead. lostbelt ort was won because everyone had to cooperate to get ride of ort. The power of friendship indeed. Half of the story when you encounter the boss Or one bbeg Is "Haha look how pathetic mc Is", a while later the weakling mops the floor with them because they didn't finish the job when it was a mere formality to do so
Moments when Fujimaru shows character traits outside being a surrogate for the player are unironically great, like during LB6 or when during gudaguda events they can act downright unhinged.
My opinion: Saberfaces: Yeah it tends to be overexaggerated, you have like from the top of my head 5 saberfaces in the saber class, 3 berserkers, 3 casters, etc. this is just from the top of my head it might actually be more. Genderbend: I don't mind and even support if it fits the story just like when some servants are turned into robots, but when it is done for full fanservice and interferes with the story then yeah I'm against it. Fujimaru: they should decide once and for all if they want to do a self insert that gives us the choice to do and speak what we want or if they want to do the character that they want in the game. Sometimes you have the option to praise or antagonize someone, but others you have no choice like on the Musashi vs Kojiro duel where you are forced to choose some cringy fanboy lines. On the anime Fujimaru was boring and generic as hell a complete trash tier character. The little that I read of the manga depicted him as a better character and I only keep hearing praise about him. Localization: the Emiya Alter issue is retarded to say the least, if anything the team doing the localization comes across as racist if the first thing they think when they see dark skin + guns = violent black people when the guy is Japanese. And this comes from someone that thinks Emiya Alter design is pretty bad, but censorship is not the answer. Also I'm tired of the they pronoun. They talk about a woman = they, they talk about a guy = they, they talk about a robot = they... please do shove that political correctness in a place where the sun doesn't shine. Shimousa: I do understand that Japanese like it because it has their heroes, but it's pretty bad, 90% of it is everyone wanking each other, it even has some weird stuff like how Musashi was shitting on Amakusa for wanting revenge after seeing everyone he loved die in front of him and saying that Empireo was much more noble and demanding of his respect when Empireo betrayed everyone he knew and threw away his honor for some duel... I know Japanese refuse to acknowledge mistakes, but a massacre will always be a massacre. I reminds of that series Rakudai No Cavalry or whatever with the grandfather of the MC that was a great hero that lead Japan and their allies to victory in WWII... I'm sure uncle Hitler would be proud... Also New Getter Robo had a similar setting where they were fighting Abe No Seimei leading an army of demons under a red moon with the help of a genderbent Raikou and I loved that arc. So it is not an aversion to Japanese folklore or history as long as it is well done. Musashi: She's a writer's pet alongside Nero, it's undeniable, worst of all she's Sakurai's writer's pet. Shimousa and Olympus are both written by her and you quickly notice it just like you notice it on Septem. Both of them are amazing, perfect with everyone praising them even when it's out of character for them. Elizabeth: I don't really care, when she appears she's mostly comic relief and doesn't take the spotlight unless it's on Halloween, but's that's normally her event and not some BS like that summer event that was around Saber Hokkusai and Musashi that was her mentor steals her spotlight in the final fight, reminded me of the Sant Quetz one but in there the event was around Bradamante and she was the one that won the final instead of Santa Quetz that was her mentor sweeping in to steal the spotlight. Pseudo Servants: I'm fine with them for most of the time, especially on Gods but Zhuge Liang and Sima Yi are valid cases since they are just Waver and Reines with superpowers. The Ishtar in Strange Fake is also a valid case since they are completely different although Gilgamesh and Enkidu stated that Rin was having a hell of a influence on her to the point that they were completely different persons. Servantverse: I see no issue with it, yeah it's goofy, but for most of the time it tends to stay contained to itself.
I am fine with saberfaces as a whole, through artstyle from different artists more often than not they end up looking like their own thing. Only when drawn by takeuchi does it stick out...Not to hate on him or anything, he is important to the franchise as a whole, but he does draw the same faces without giving them their own flair. Seeing other fate artists draw some saberfaces, like the samurai remnant artist when they drew Jalter, she really looked different.
I would say it took a while for the story to show more than short glimpses at Fujimaru's personality before Temple of Time and after that we got those moments more consistently, but for me Fujimaru shines most on their own in LB 6, Traum, and Ordeal Call 2. As for the gender of Fujimaru Ritsuka: both versions work for me just fine (whereas with Extra's Hakuno Kishinami the female version just works way better for me). I am just a little disappointed that we only get so see female Fujimaru in the manga adaptations and parody stuff (with only Grand Carnival and the Learning with Manga special having her animated at all) whereas male Fujimaru is featured in everything else.
@mr.skeptic *I say BULLCRAP to that.* Frankly, I'm a dude and I love when a Fate entry has an occasional female protagonist. Except... _Ayako Sajyou from Prototype is on eternal limbo._ 💀😭 Erice Utsumi is stuck with just 3 LN volumes of Fate/Requiem *after all these years.* And Kishinami Hakuno _was_ "canonized" as female in Last Encore, BUT: 1 - she's an NPC, so out of all protagonists, she's the one that has a legitimate excuse to be either female or male, and both work just fine. 2 - *she's not even the protagonist of Last Encore proper, because she is DEAD!* 💀 Her spotlight is taken by her DEADFACE counterpart, *who took on her male version! COME ON!* 😭 Meanwhile, we have Shirou, Sieg, Angra Mainyu in Hollow Ataraxia, Iori, all being the undisputed male MCs of their stories, in all their iterations. Then Ritsuka Fujimaru has a predominantly male exposure in media in general, compared to the female counterpart. (specially for animations, which tend to get more popular) And let's not forget, before release, the marketing team of Fate/Extra was *deadset* in showing male Hakuno in ALL promotional material. Maybe that's just me, but I feel a bias for making male protagonists and I just don't like it. 😕 I'm a guy, but I want to occasionally play as a girl in my games too just as I play as a guy! Anyway, sorry for the rant. I'mma stop here. _(gosh, comment so long that the phone is delaying to register when I type)_
@BushidoRoad Rin is definitely NOT the protagonist of UBW. At best, she's a secondary main character, but the story definitely shifts focus on Shirou from Episode 1 onwards. _(which sucks, imagine a Stay Night Route where we see Rin being THE main protagonist of the story!)_ But yeah, I'm glad for a few titles still giving female MCs a chance, like Illya in Fate Kaleid and the blonde Ayaka Sajyou from Strange Fake. Still, I do really feel a bias for male MCs. I think writers could definitely pull off a cool female protagonist in a Fate story! Take Erice Utsumi for instance. _Aside from the fact Requiem seems to be on hiatus right now_ 😭, she's definitely a great character to follow!
I dunno my issue is were need more diverse historic characters like the middle east and america/ Canada there are some servants that many want to see but we get more hard to follow look a noah abrahamic servants are low and hardly seen and middle eastern one to India has been getting servants more but its still sad we don't get more iconic ones regardless of stars heck i think nobunaga should stop getting gag events and get serious considering how important they are
@BushidoRoadI’m going to have to disagree with you America has plenty of figures that could make it as servants like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Stephen Decatur or Johnny Appleseed just to name a few
@BushidoRoad I’m sorry but Johnny Appleseed is literally a case of an American figure being mythologized I mean I’m pretty sure John Chapman didn’t wander the Midwest barefoot planting Apple seeds just because they can or fight a giant eel
@BushidoRoad why not? I’m not expecting him to be a top tier servant the guy was known for planting apple seeds but he should be able to make the cut also since I forgot to put this in my other comment I don’t think Geronimo should be called an American hero because that would be an insult to him and his people
@BushidoRoad here let me refrain my argument Johnny Appleseed and his real life counterpart John Chapman were the reason the apple is such an important food in American culture all our apple based cuisine can be traced to John Chapman most notably the apple pie did he defeat an entire army no but he was a cultural icon like Shakespeare and Mozart and let’s be honest Fate would say that Johnny Appleseed was a mage and did in fact fight a giant eel oh and I know you didn’t mean any harm when referring to Geronimo as an American hero it just felt awkward given how we treated him and his family
I'd say my biggest grip with the MC is not with Fujimaru themself but rather with the fact that they are the only Master in Chaldea, making it so every Servant are theirs, and since I prefer the most traditional 1 Master 1 Servant duo in the Holy Grail Wars it kind of annoys me, I understand that it is a result of the Gacha nature of the game having you be the Master of every Servant you summon, but it still kind of bothers me.
It's sad to remember the initial years of FGO and how that was basically Fujimaru Ritsuka's deal: a self-insert with little to no variety. In-game, things started to improve by more or less Camelot, where the devs slowly started giving him more character traits and personalities, until we reach today where his dialogue options are... true "dialogues" instead of just a simple sentence. Not to mention, the rare but welcome inner thoughts that may pop up sometimes. I know self-insert characters are a huge thing for the Japanese community, but I think they should've treated Fujimaru like this from the get go: as his own standalone character, with his own emotions, opinions and quirks. You don't need to insert yourself in a story in order to enjoy it. *_(personally, I never saw the appeal of that)_*
100% this. I don't care if Fujimara is lame or not, Gudako is best girl 💞 I especially love how unhinged they portray her in the Fun With Manga colabs 😂 *Scratch that, I just remembered that cross-dressing Fujimara is a thing! I love them both!! GudaGuda is best girl!
Hot take : I really have a problem with muramasa's treatment over time. In shimousa, he was a cool character with a fun personality and lots of potential. But since he became available, he is just used to pull fate stay night easter egg left and right. It became worse when in his room line he states that he is just shirou as an old man with muramasa's power. It feels like muramasa was never a character and is just a way to put shirou in the game. Same deal with rasputin but at least we got to learn about his character in lb prologue and lb1.
Indeed never really was a fan of pseudoservant thingy. I mean sure some events are cute and all but aside from that the obscene amount of forced innuendos between goddesses ( who are many a times wives of other gods) and Muramasa ( which also creates the opportunity to create doujins about to them... like what the hell😅) makes me feel like yuck!🤮 I don't know how others find it hilarious and keep making fun of them... especially the goddesses but I find it weird and base in taste.
@@uselesshero.official the main problem with pseudo servant is when some writers don't allow them to be their own characters and since most fans of the fsn community praise this content. I love the topic you brought. It is unique. In my opinion, people having their own thoughts and opinion regarding the story of fate making it much more merrier. Fate has its own flaws but I hope people dont really take it too seriously. Genderbend musashi is a fiction afterall 😂
People just like to hate on MCs for no reason. In FGO the MC has had plenty of character development it just that people don't like to pay attention to it because either there are bigger things going on or they just straight up don't care about them. The story makes it VERY clear that the MC is the one going into the frontlines with their Servants and giving them orders and instructing them throughout battles and is also constantly providing support with their Command Spells. We've had plenty of examples of what Servants do when left to their own devices which is why the Mc being present is so important. I feel like people carry unrealistic expectations for main characters that they don't have for other characters. For example a MCs starts showing that they have their own agency and have thoughts and feelings that don't match the player then people start having issues with it. In Genshin Impact early in the Fontaine storyline the MCs befriends two characters who later are revealed to be working for the evil organization that they have been dealing with have been deceived by for over a year up until that point and when the MC got upset with them and started distrust them I saw plenty of people who took an issue with it even though it made complete sense why the MC didn't trust them after finding out the truth. Going back to FGO though we know that the MC has their own thoughts that they have been suppressing, imagine if they snapped one day and started rebelling against Chaldea. Wouldn't people have issues with that? Despite the fact that the MC has been carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders for over a year by this point. Even if it was justified that the MC finally reached their breaking point, wouldn't people have an issue with it? I guess what I'm trying to say is that some people seem like they'll have an issue no matter what, if it's not what they want or like then it must be wrong. People tend to forget that MCs are characters too and they have their own thoughts and feelings. In Persona 3 the MC may be a silent protagonist but it doesn't change the fact that they are a person who has his own thoughts and feelings who has lived his own life before the beginning of the game's story. FGO isn't any different, the MC has their own thoughts and feelings regarding what is happening around them even if they don't show it and as we have seen since Fairy Britain the MC is carrying not only a lot of guilt because of the Lostbelts but also has a LOT of insecurities and possible self loathing they are dealing with that they don't let others see.
I mean Guda situation is basically the same as Doctor from Arknights. Both are very lacking in involvement in story yet, without them there's no story at all. Both are just normal guys with common sense and sheer will. Doctor got his background recently(Babel) and it is peak asf. Honestly, I am quite afraid what that Mushroom is cooking with Guda. I mean ,OCs are just testing Guda by CF and well he isn't having a great time in them. I do understand the hate, but its just long overdue and outdated.
I...honestly didn't think Shimousa was a divisive chapter. Was it hard? Absolutely, I got bodied in some of those fights. But it was explained upfront that we are meant to have little to no backup. So if a fight is meant to be JUST Musashi then I can't come rushing in with my challenge team and sweep the battle. It makes no sense narrative wise, so I gotta be smarter and pick my attacks and weigh when to use skills and support when I can't just kill everything all at once even if I want to.
I think the main divisive point is Musashi herself. Some people like her a lot, some others see her as a Mary Sue doing broken stuff whenever she appears with little to no effort. Adding to that that she basically steals the protagonism whenever she appears.
The "MC" is just a self insert for men though. I mean if all the female servants falling in love with mc regardless of MC's gender while the male characters all have "respect" for the MC, regardless of gender, is the single biggest clue to the self insertion aspect of the MC I don't know what is. As for his personality though? It's basic. There's nothing to praise or anything to hate. Tbh, if our decisions made more impact in the story then perhaps mc would've been considered to have more of a personality. Because unless people haven't realized it. Our decisions as the MC has almost zero impact to the story itself.
@@thirdsilhouetteofaverage7373some male servants like you romantically regardless of gender too it's small in comparison to the females but it's there.
My only issue with FGO will only ever be the Gacha rates. TwT But other than that, it's a pretty enjoyable game. XD I enjoy all the references that come with the Servantverse, and when I realized the whole thing with MHX was basically a Star Wars parody I laughed my ass off. And I'm an immense fan of Baeber, so more versions are always a plus, especially since the OG doesn't really make much of an appearance at all in the Story and or Events. Gives me a chance to see her enjoy the other aspects of things in various situations and forms. As for the whole matter with Ritsuka? My opinion on the matter is that they may have started as a blank slate in the beginning (which is par for the course in any Video Game), as time goes on, they grow more comfortable with what type of Character they want them to be, showing a goofier and or more serious side to the dialogue boxes we're given as options. Especially in regards to their reactions to some matters that can be completely out there...or just completely expected. XD Like in this recent NA Event near the beginning. Like. Rituska. The frick you mean Merlin comes in to take a sniff when yer sleeping?! What's the story behind that?!?! But yeah. XD Long story short. The characters grow with the game, and anyone who ignores that growth just tend to be haters fixated on their original biases. XP Especially if the dialogue choices given aren't what they feel "they" would have chosen in the situation I guess, but that's a bit presumptuous to say on my part, so apologies for any offense.
Servant is just a weapon? One of the main theme that is revolving Gudao is that s/he consider Servant more than just a weapon. Which makes a lot of Servant likes him/her. And the one that want to be considered a weapon, s/he can utilize greatly while still treatng them more than just a weapon, so they end up liking him/her too. The writers like her face but clearly don't like Saber herself and it's because SHES BORING. My thought is Saber could use a visual design update (her design just screams "yr 1 servant" [yes I know why] as the fate series has aged, she hasn't aged with it), and her personality is stiff too. She needs to emote more, have a hobby or two, and feature in more stories. I mean it's obvious why the FGO team hasn't made use of the 'face of the fate series', it's cause she's fucking boring. And it seems like nobody wants to do anything about that. Look at how they love Liz, Musashi, and Morgan way more and give them so much more attention. And how the alter version of Saber also got way more attention.

5) The Use/Presence of Fate/stay night Servants (Those who are fine with leaving the OG Servants in their game of origin while others believe that the OG Servants have the potential to tell other stories)
Poor Mash, she has been the designated cockblock character since the beginning and then there was the entire LB6 debacle. Its really easy to grow to dislike her, even with her being such a cinnamon roll.
Higashide makes everything he touches worse.

Russia we dominate.
Scandanavia Skadi had full control but didn't want to hurt us and it was actually Sherlock who almost got us killed sooner then anything.
China wasn't actually all that difficult.
Dinotopia is just an actual massive fight between us and ORT. Which was just a redo of Solomon.

Scandivania, yes she didn't. If she did we d be dead.
China? Wasn't it literally stated the the emperor could have dropped his true body on us to crush us but didn't because he was curious about us?
India? What do you think would have happen if arjuna alter showed up from the get go in front of us? And I m thinking he probably would have done so if it wasn't for doman messing up with his head.
We literally had to go through one hell of a loophole AND use the noble phantasm OF THE SERVANT OF CRYPTER just to have a chance to fight back.
Olympus. Zeus, literally had us kneeling down to him when we get here and say he leave us alone because he doesn't fucking care due to how strong he is.
And let s not count artemis who could have just fire a arrow from the get go back in atlantis when orion wasn't here.
Britain? Morgan clearly did show she could have just do her infinite clone technic from get go and kill us immediatly. She literally could have done everything by herself but decided to let the like of bargest try to stop us because she tried to not be a complet tyrant. Just look at the way she died. Compare that to the fact that she launched multiple rongominiad at olympus and it was immediatly treated as a huge threat.
Lostbelt 6 self destruction would have also destroyed everything outside of it. That means leaving it alone = all of us dead.
lostbelt ort was won because everyone had to cooperate to get ride of ort. The power of friendship indeed.
Every fucking time we destroy a lostbelt, every fucking time they very well know we did it and every fucking time they don't just decide to immediatly kill us as if they had better things to do.
Worse offenders being morgan and zeus.
My opinion:
Saberfaces: Yeah it tends to be overexaggerated, you have like from the top of my head 5 saberfaces in the saber class, 3 berserkers, 3 casters, etc. this is just from the top of my head it might actually be more.
Funny thing is that he sometimes doesn't even realize that he made a saberface until it was too late (I think this was the case with okita lol)
Male Fujimaru are everywhere, probably so that we (the readers, the players) can feel related. I mean, most of the players are male. but idk
@mr.skeptic *I say BULLCRAP to that.*
Frankly, I'm a dude and I love when a Fate entry has an occasional female protagonist.
Except... _Ayako Sajyou from Prototype is on eternal limbo._ 💀😭
Erice Utsumi is stuck with just 3 LN volumes of Fate/Requiem *after all these years.*
And Kishinami Hakuno _was_ "canonized" as female in Last Encore, BUT:
1 - she's an NPC, so out of all protagonists, she's the one that has a legitimate excuse to be either female or male, and both work just fine.
2 - *she's not even the protagonist of Last Encore proper, because she is DEAD!* 💀 Her spotlight is taken by her DEADFACE counterpart, *who took on her male version! COME ON!* 😭
Meanwhile, we have Shirou, Sieg, Angra Mainyu in Hollow Ataraxia, Iori, all being the undisputed male MCs of their stories, in all their iterations.
Then Ritsuka Fujimaru has a predominantly male exposure in media in general, compared to the female counterpart. (specially for animations, which tend to get more popular)
And let's not forget, before release, the marketing team of Fate/Extra was *deadset* in showing male Hakuno in ALL promotional material.
Maybe that's just me, but I feel a bias for making male protagonists and I just don't like it. 😕
I'm a guy, but I want to occasionally play as a girl in my games too just as I play as a guy!
_(which sucks, imagine a Stay Night Route where we see Rin being THE main protagonist of the story!)_
But yeah, I'm glad for a few titles still giving female MCs a chance, like Illya in Fate Kaleid and the blonde Ayaka Sajyou from Strange Fake.
Still, I do really feel a bias for male MCs. I think writers could definitely pull off a cool female protagonist in a Fate story! Take Erice Utsumi for instance. _Aside from the fact Requiem seems to be on hiatus right now_ 😭, she's definitely a great character to follow!
@BushidoRoad Hmm, fair point.
I feel like these complaints are simply for the sake of complaining..
Trust me, if I really want to complain, I won't bother to say the "plus side"
I dunno my issue is were need more diverse historic characters like the middle east and america/ Canada there are some servants that many want to see but we get more hard to follow look a noah abrahamic servants are low and hardly seen and middle eastern one to India has been getting servants more but its still sad we don't get more iconic ones regardless of stars heck i think nobunaga should stop getting gag events and get serious considering how important they are
@BushidoRoad there actually are a decent amount not including america but maybe not 4 or 5 stars but still
@BushidoRoadI’m going to have to disagree with you America has plenty of figures that could make it as servants like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Stephen Decatur or Johnny Appleseed just to name a few
Yikes, I just realized that I misspelled "divided" into "devided" sorry guys 😂😂
Personally i love Ritsuka and his whole personality i see him aa his own character and not a self insert, like other do especially in the manga
Also in shinjuku he is best waifu
@@joebyne6061 lol yes
*_(personally, I never saw the appeal of that)_*
something that also splits the fandom is gudao and gudako I think gudako has much more personality than gudao tbh and gudako needs more spotlight bruh
100% this. I don't care if Fujimara is lame or not, Gudako is best girl 💞 I especially love how unhinged they portray her in the Fun With Manga colabs 😂

No matter what anyone says Shimosa is always my favorite chapter. It introduced me to my 2nd waifu Musashi.
No.
You do the math. It's more obvious with ishtar (post-babylonia), parvati (when kama isn't here), durga, zhuge liang and sima yi.

Once eliza beat him, she vanish since her role as a servant ends here but that allows gilgamesh to finally have enough power to defeat kiara.
Does the divide regarding Musashi exist these days?
I mean, canonically, she's been out of the story (DATA LOST) for YEARS now.
Well the split of the fans now is more like there are those who believe she will return, and those who believe Musashi is gone forever lmao

Buster or Arts

"Shimousa is too hard"? Wut? Bruh, what are those people on
Even as someone who struggled, I don't get that
The "MC" is just a self insert for men though.

XD
Like in this recent NA Event near the beginning. Like.
And wtf I didn't know people don't like Shimousa because of "Japanese culture and history" what kind of racist reason is that?

Fujimaru is a male in cannon, female in parody spinoff.
The two of them are cannon gudao is used in the anime and gudako is used in some of the mangas and not only the learn with manga.Even in some CM of the game gudako is used instead of gudao (shinjuku CM). There isn't a protag more cannon than the other where does this mentality comes from ?
About the MC i dont know about the manga but it looked good.
However in the game i think your actions making impact in the overall developmant of the character would be good even if it wont change the out come i think it would be nice.
