  • Removing welded on trailer jack
Yessir! It's always a good day when you find a use for the old smoke wrench!
So the short story here, is that the jack was already bent some, that's why I couldn't get it to telescope in properly. Pulling out of the pasture I went through some deep ruts, and those finished it off. The jack was welded on, so I had to cut it off with the torch. Then dressed up the mounting area a bit, and hammered it back flat as I could. In the followup we'll weld the new one on.

You seem to have toy/tool for any job not to mention heavy equipment too! Is this how you earn a living or just for fun?

Ha! Just for fun! But also a living. I grew up on a farm, learned a respect for having the right tools. The smoke wrench here is the perfect example. Most folks at my job (I work in an office) ask me "why the hell do you own a cutting torch". "Uh, because I might need it some day!" To be clear, I don't just go buy tools to have them. But when I need them for a task, I have no hesitation to buy them, and just roll that into the cost of the project. If it pays out, then it's a go!
