Roux Method: EOLR

This video explains the roux method substep called EOLR. EOLR stands for edge orientation left (and) right. This combines steps 4a and 4b or roux last six edges. The idea behind it is that you solve EO in a specific way in order to put the UL UR edges on the bottom. There are only about 60 cases to learn because many cancel out with symmetry, and these cases are all intuitive. The algorithms can be found here: tinyurl.com/eolrkian
The video tutorial playlist can be found here: bit.ly/2i2HI32

“This is bad because it's yellow"
Woah ok kian
Vrownie Diamond and this is bad because it’s white.
And this is bad because its green
Finally :D I was waiting for so long!
you're welcome
Dude this video was so helpful and now I can switch to roux.yay
Love house you explained it! Thanks
best vid ever
this is so amazing skill!! i will practice this. thank you😄
youre welcome!
+PenguinsDontFly what should i do with other cases? just do normally?
Yes. When you recognize EOLR, you do EOLR, otherwise normal LSE.
thanks for this video
You're welcome!
Kian Mansour nakakatulong talaga yang ginawa mong video para sa mga beginners
Can u share how track lr egdes?
After I get to the arrow I get stuck...I’m confused plz help...
Should i even lern the 60 algs? Or can i just do this intuitive?
Daniel T This is basically like F2L. All cases are intuitive, but some are better learned as algs because you will know how to do them the most efficient way and will have them in muscle memory. Go through the list like 5 times and you should be good.
Alright. Tanks for this very fast reply.
Daniel T You're welcome
can't tell the difference between green, orange and shady yellow.
You need some of those enchroma glasses that Chris has
that would be cool.
I actually tried the enchroma glasses that a guy at work has, it didn't have any effect :(
i think they have different designs for different types of colorblindness. i guess you and your friend don't have similar colorblindness problems?
Yeah, I know, the test on their site only gave me 50% chance it will work. Well it doesn't help my friend either, only maybe highlights reds and greens a tiny bit.
Чет я не понимаю ничего в этих схемах.если там фиолетовым цветом обозначены те ребра которые нужно перевернуть базовым цветом кверху,то где тогда те которые от двух сторон?
Hella late but, do you use EOLR every solve? I'm just wondering if I should or not, currently trying to break sub 15
I use it about 80% of the time, which is most of the useful cases.
Quick question: I've been messing with the lube and tensions of my GTS, but it's still a bit...unruly. I've been eyeballing a Thunderclap V1 for a while now, but I've also been hearing a lot of good things about the Valk 3. Having used both, which do you prefer for Roux?
valk3 coming soon
+PenguinsDontFly Oh, I thought you had one for some reason. Must be thinking of someone else. Thanks for all the help, by the way.
yooooooo boi it's amazonggg
yeeeeeee
cho mình link công thức
Hey Kian should I use EOLR in every solve because my LSE lookahead sucks.
Hamza Abbas Zaidi Go for it
can't there be more good arrows using UFUB? i'm a beginner in roux but it seems to work
Yes, there definitely can be! The problem is that finding UFUB quickly in speedsolves is very hard.
Kian Mansour Thanks! do you recommend learning cmll or eolr first? i already copyied all your cmlls on a notebook and are learning them slow but steady. i have a good alg that i didn't find there , for the mirror L. R' F R B' R' F' R B ( i do it like i was doing an x)
Definitely learn CMLL first. I still like my alg better.
Kian Mansour that alg is like the only one that i manage to sub one. thanks again for the tips!
You're welcome!
hey kian, when i go to your website with all eolr algorithms i did understand but the one i did nt understand is UF,UB and the other what does it mean
I have a whole EOLR playlist!
yes.sorry i did nt have much time to watch it because of study for exam
Occasionally i get a cases that are not including on EOLR, like i got UF and DB for Arrow(f) case. Is it just me or it happens to other people as well?
This is normal. I didn't include these cases in the videos or document because the optimal "EOLR" solution here is just normal EO into UL UR. Most cases are better with EOLR, and if a case isn't listed, then it's either a mirror of a case that is there, or it's just not necessary
Kian Mansour That solve the mystery(?)I had
Thank u and ur videos are awesome!!
Huh, I know that's not the point of the video, but I noticed that in the very beginning when you do LR normally, you do M' U2 M to put them on the bottom. I've always done M U2 M for that. Never knew about these two options, lol! Looks like it allows you to control if L or R edge ends up on FD, which is especially nice for OH since you can make sure that after inserting LR, BU will be closer to you to make lookahead for 4c easier. Makes sense?
yeah, in OH, go for the more efficient solution usually. of course that means you have to be able to do Ms well, at least better than M'M'M'.
Erm but I didn't mention efficiency, don't both options have the same efficiency?
oh, sorry, i didn't rewatch the video. do what ever is faster. can't think of a situation where M would be faster than M'
Hmm I suppose your lookahead is great so you don't really need BU closer to you, you always know what it is even when it's on the far side from you. I'll get there eventually :)
+Alex Friedman just do whatever is faster speed-optimally. that means M's.
7:45 what is that grey thing moving back there?
mmmm wire
Omg you answered!!! this video is from 5 years agoooo!!!
I need some help do gans center caps affect the air?
I don't understand what you're trying to say
As in do the gans center caps affect the gans air?
The cube has centre caps. What affect are centre caps supposed to have? I'm so confused. I don't even have a gans air.
Hahahahahaha this was hilarious xD
PenguinsDontFly wtf ur confusing me now, there are extra gans center caps that supposddly reduce lockups on a gans 356v2, Will they help the gans air?
for me, LR = UFUB
i think you confuse m and m'
gibillan magnificul M' is like L'
i guess it's personal preference, i always thought of as m like a r, and i did not have problems with edge swapping pll (i guess cause they were simmetrical and both ways work). i'm new to roux, started cubing less then 3 months ago with cfop (sub 25), but i like the freedom of roux so i switched. thanks for your work, quality videos like these are kind of hard to find for this method
If you saw that 4 flip case as misoriented centers from the beguining you could cancel with M' U2 M U2 M' instead of M' U2 M' U2 M U2 M2
I noticed that right after :/
That's why I like thinking about stuff as misoriented centers, XD
lol
Without knowing EOLR will I Become Sub 20 ..
Yes
This isn't helpful it's just confusing
