Looks great! Small recommendation though, if the lightbulb above your drafting table is an incandescent bulb, I would either relocate it away from your thermostat or switch it out for an LED. Incandescent bulbs give off quite a bit of heat which could cause your shop to be colder in the winter due to the thermostat thinking it's warmer than it is, and your AC could run longer in the summer because the thermostat will think it's not cooling the space off. You want your thermostat to be getting as much of the natural temp in your shop as you can.
In terms of the lighting, you could try a dual lighting setup - diffuse and focussed (directional). This would give you an ability to see your work from different perspectives. Diffuse lighting would show the overall colour and aesthetic of the piece, but the focussed light would give you a greater ability to see the details of the piece, much like looking at it in the sunlight. That's what I'd do anyway! Just started watching the video, so will see what you do with the area. :)
Will, since you seem to be aiming for an isolated work space here how about some protection from dust and debris? You could hang either a shower rod and curtains for the open walls or find some track and curtains like those used in surgeries/emergency wards at surplus auctions. It wouldn’t keep all of the stuff out but it could help and be flexible enough to leave it open while you work in there. The space is really looking good and I look forward to its continuing progress.
Looks great! You may should have painted the wall behind the boards black. That way when the wood warps and the cracks open a little you won't see white. 🤗 And for the air compressor, how are you going to be able to drain the condensation? You don't want to allow all that water to collect in your tank. You could plumb in a pipe down the wall and attach a valve at the end?
The description sounds like grampa standing around going "and this here is files, and this here is hammers, and this here is knives" except that somehow it's fascinating. I think it's Will's love of the equipment and the profession that really comes out and grabs your interest most of all.

Hey! Maybe a lantern restoration video would be cool… and it would be a really cool addition to the work cubby thing. P.s I have the exact same vice you have there.
You know how every big UA-camr has like a classic shot/angle? I feel like the angle of looking dead on at the space is going to be Wills angle he’s known for. Such a cool space!
almost the same air compressor i just bought. mine is the Kobalt Qiet Tech 26gal from LOWES. my old 20gal craftsman that was manu in 08/12 crapped out.
I appreciate you uploading do much lately. If possible could you do some videos on some of UA-cam knife makers? What you think of their process and knives?
What is the storage cabinet with the swing-out doors that you start talking about at 11:20 (brand, model even if you know it)? Also, is it stand alone or is it part of the cabinet below? Thanks!
Why the burnt wood? Does that reduce glare while you do precision work? Oh, I love the baby anvil. given your love of anvils, is that your favorite? It's cute.
Hey Willl, great video ! Would you mind sharing which Squarespace template you are using ? I tried making a website there 3 times already but I just absolutely suck at it.
Just getting my shop electrified. The office section is done, and I'm getting it organized. The Metal shop side is ready for lighting. The Wood shop side needs a lot of tools and stuff moved to let the electrician install the lights. I'm almost seventy, and sometimes wonder why I'm doing this. I don't need an income... I do like making stuff though, and maybe I can have folks come in to use the shop and learn a bit of what I have learned. Way out east in Levels, West Virginia.
I'm so glad that I know I'm not competent enough to mess about with electricals 🤣
Рік тому
Are you sure you’re running less current though? With lower voltage my guess would be more current to produce the same effect. But I know just enough to stay away from electrical installations.
Hay Will that old tool box 🧰 that manufacturers that box is still in business anyway if that box ever needs repaired they can fix it like it was brand new. I myself don't remember the name of that company but I think they are in Michigan.
You look a bit like a coal miner after working with the wood... And, thanks for leaving in the drilling into the ductwork fiasco, we've all been there in one way or another and appreciate knowing we're no alone,
You sir are a talented knife maker/blacksmith. Your general construction skills, however, still need some help. For example, based on your video and audio commentary, it appears that you ran your air hose through your furnace duct and then taped up around the hose to “seal” the opening? If so, please remove it before it catches on fire and fills your shop with acrid smoke.
Hey Will. Just a little note from someone who lives in Japan. From what I understand, shōsugiban is just plain wrong. It’s a word not used in japan and if you say it here, nobody knows what you are talking about. Yakisugi is the right word.
That's not a switch, it's a manual starter. How many amps do you need to powder off the starter? Do you actually have any 240v 3/0 power needs in this new area? Do you actually have 3 phase to your shop? You may want to get your buddy the electrician out to take a look. Hate saying this, but I think your wiring your area in violation of Code.......
Antique!? DUDE!.... hurt.... I still use those "antiques"..... Okay, maybe your table is an antique and the table design itself isn't antique.... Am I sensative her? lol
@Ryan-wu4ol you're welcome. As for when are you old, it's relative. Anyone older than you will call you young, anyone younger than you will call you old. If you REALLY want to feel old ask a child that measures their age in fingers on one hand. When they realize you need more than 2 hands their minds blow. You are not really old until you run out of people older than you to call you young.

Once you have a place to put everything away it's time to get more things
Sadly that seems ro be the way it works.
I was worried all that blackened wood would suck up a lot of light, but it actually gives good contrast in the camera.
Are you saying he's easier to watch in dark mode?
In terms of the lighting, you could try a dual lighting setup - diffuse and focussed (directional). This would give you an ability to see your work from different perspectives. Now welcome to "Pimp My Shop!" Staring Will Stelter! xD
Looking really nice.
that place turned out great! the drawer tour was awesome !! cheers from germany

I watch a lot of UA-cam with the square space ads, and that was single-handedly the best transition ever
The description sounds like grampa standing around going "and this here is files, and this here is hammers, and this here is knives" except that somehow it's fascinating. I think it's Will's love of the equipment and the profession that really comes out and grabs your interest most of all.
"Here's the drawer where I keep various lengths of wire."
It's nice seeing the evolution of your workspace. Thanks Will. 👍👍👍
That segue for the ad read... smooth like butter!
That’s a fused disconnect. Sometimes used as a safety switch. If it had 2 fuses then it’s single phase. If it had 3 fuses then it’s 3 phase.
I work at HFT. We’re switching out to the new line of tool boxes and they just haven’t got them sent out to the stores yet.
I am glad you are getting your space set up better. Nothing beats everything having a place.

Looks fantastic!!!
Thanks for the shout out!
Vice and anvil look great on the bench. Inspiring place to create
I love that you're pumpin out the videos more now! You're the best Will!

Loved the new space Will! I’m excited to see more of it during your more delicate projects.
almost the same air compressor i just bought. mine is the Kobalt Qiet Tech 26gal from LOWES. my old 20gal craftsman that was manu in 08/12 crapped out.
Thanks for the tour Will. 😁👍🏼
Nice work area will! I am a fellow African blackwood enjoyer! I never get sick of the moment I start buffing it, its just so pretty!
Awesome can't wait to see what's next. Keep up the great work my friend. Take it easy.
You got me with the Square Space add. Smooooth.......
Nicely done on your new cave! I love the siding!!
NIce job young man. Stay safe.
Looks really nice.
You should add an old school latus scroll shelf for all of your drawings after the project is done. Give it some of the ancient library feel.
Will, nice addition to the workshop! Also, the transition to the sponsor got me... :)
I appreciate you uploading do much lately. If possible could you do some videos on some of UA-cam knife makers? What you think of their process and knives?
My friend has some of that riveted beam for sale I believe
It was originally in a rail road yard in oakland ca
I don’t know if it would mess with the look you’re going for, but labels are so helpful in my work area.
The stage is set. It may take a while to work out the lighting. I’m confident you young guys will get it worked out.
That’s a great spot to film at , a very nice back drop ! 👍
Will are you going to blade show in Salt Lake City this year?
The space looks good, Will
It looks great on camera Will.
Looks like a nice, organized space. That's a pretty sweet little blacksmith's vise you have.
almost 250,000 subscribers awesome.
Looks great!!
It's amazing that you can fit under a mezzanine with a standard 8' ceiling
I used to do all of my work in an 8x10 area. Looks nice, I’m currently working on organizing my shop to have a similar area.
You have inspired me to re-org my garage!
What is the storage cabinet with the swing-out doors that you start talking about at 11:20 (brand, model even if you know it)? Also, is it stand alone or is it part of the cabinet below? Thanks!
nice looks well thought out
Its a nice "set" for the segments where you talk to the camera
Looks great 2x👍
Great content thanks for sharing
So Will, did I happen to see the stash of PFERD hand files you bought at the Black Dragon Forge Hammer-In in the machinest chest’s drawer???
Are you allowed to run MC cable in an open space. I think per the NEC uncovered electrical has to be run in EMT conduit. Nice workspace though.
12:55 curious eyes :)
If I remember right from one of Abom79 videos you can date the Kennedy tool box by looking under the bottom drawer.
Why the burnt wood? Does that reduce glare while you do precision work? Oh, I love the baby anvil. given your love of anvils, is that your favorite? It's cute.
Hey Will, I noticed when you were showing the handle material that you don't have any Fordite. Have you ever tried using it?
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
very nice!

Inside, it's "paneling"
Hay Will haven't herd about your truck in while is off to race or you need to do alot of work on it. Anyway hope everything is going well for you.
Hay Will that old tool box 🧰 that manufacturers that box is still in business anyway if that box ever needs repaired they can fix it like it was brand new. I myself don't remember the name of that company but I think they are in Michigan.
Almost as many files as vices!
Knife juices and sauces?
I feel that would require it's own video! 😂
Can't wait to see all this space cluttered in the future 😂
That's going to be a very impressive shop, if you ever finish building it. 🙃
No workshop is ever finished!
2:21 Of course not. It's in-siding. 😁
Not such a good spot for your thermostat it needs to be out in the open preferably close to the return air vent.
Make a cigar cutter!!!
What brand is that 30amp switch
Atleast you didn't drill into an electrical wire or a water pipe.
I guess you could call it 'insiding'😂
It's in-siding when it's inside.
Hamilton Drafting Table?
How many vises?
Well, he did mention cigars...
You can't have too many vices.
Always need new ways of work holding!
Gday guys
paneling?
Cool space. All you need now is your name on the wall behind you.
Cladding.... In English it's called cladding :)
Hope this helps.
please make a leg vise.
I didn't want to hit the like button because it was on 406, but I had to... cause someone else would eventually!
Electrician in me cringed 😅

This is insideing.
99sqft that's the size of my whole workshop lol
Because it's inside maybe it should be called insiding?

B4 I at h I'm going to say Jewelers bench

Yup
Boooo.
Not all places have building codes lol.
That's a fused disconnect switch.
You're supposed to switch off the line not the neutral. Anyway all these code Karens don't worry mate, it works its just 120v it'll be fine.
He’s using it as a 120v light switch.
It's called.... insiding...
A nice and nice place... there are at least 80 square feet... tidy! 😁🤣 Just kidding, your workshop is nice... but seems very cluttered.
Will ain't mezzanine around...
A square space😂
SLAP COUNT = 27
Antique!? DUDE!.... hurt.... I still use those "antiques"..... Okay, maybe your table is an antique and the table design itself isn't antique.... Am I sensative her? lol
Having and using them is not insulting. It's when you remember when that stuff was new and someone calls it an antique that it's insulting.
@@danielstellmon5330 Yup, been there, heard that...
@@danielstellmon5330 Thank you for articulating that better. lol.... so, how many grey hairs do I need before I am the antique?
