Without a doubt this is now the coolest automobile show on the planet. So easy to relate to the people involved, so real. Seriously, who wants to look at exotics no one can afford? Well I do but I hope you see my point about the great work Jay Leno is doing here.
Everytime I've gone through North Bay I've said when asked, I went through it like it was standing still. The remarkable dude that runs these builds has my kinda humour bone.
Don't listen to the negative comments.. part of why we love these vids is exactly why you hate them.. We don't want to see things that we can see going down the road! If anything, more exotics, more classics, and more one off vehicles. The channel is awesome. If you dislike, go kick rocks for all Im concerned... like my fav radio host used to say, "there are two knobs on your radio, adjusting either will solve your problem!"
Really great episode!! The red bike had some amazing engineering, and the huge engine fits nicely inside the panels. Really awesome people the driver and the creator of the bike.
I remember the Cal Rayburn bike on the movie. I remember him telling about how the steering changed with speed and at one point you turned right to go left.
Jay, please do an episode on the Miata in the background. The car looks really menacing and I am very curious about the kind mods that you have made to the car. It looks like some pretty major things have been done to it.
He was a dealer mechanic, loved cars, found out he could make people laugh, without the laugh I don't think he could have afforded his hobby to the extent he does.
I don't know if Jay got that part about the air picking up heat going thru the radiator and adding push to the bike. i think first used on a P51 fighter,
+radioguy1620 The Meredith effect - the P51 is famous for utilising it, but before that it was used to good effect on the Spitfire, the Hurricane and the Heston Napier Racer. I have seen somewhere that the prototype Spitfire was the first to fly it.Don't know if that is correct though, or if it was flown even earlier.
Seems like a natural transition for a Flat Track Racer. 150mph sliding around on a dirt track with 15 other riders trying to catch you to 350mph at Bonneville Salt Flats. You crash at either of those events and you can end up dead or as a quadriplegic for the rest of your life.
I see that Sam Wheeler plans to break the motorcycle land speed record in the summer / fall of 2013 on the Bonneville Salt Flats. We'll see if his plan works out. Video - Sam Wheeler: Race to 400MPH /watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ePhQjjpQ2lg#!
I used to trip over the parts for that damned thing while earning profits for Datum Precision, Grass Valley, Ca. I used to believe in racing. Now I'm tired of the narcissistic crap required for that game. BUB is gone, folded up after a deal with some fancy NASCAR exhaust tuner went south. How's your shop doing these days, John ? Fat Howard still around ??? I'm cutting parts for medical, communications, and military apps these days, just up the hill from Crown Point Circle. This shop has potential in the real world.
@eddiewinehosen I have been told that I am a subpar partygoer and not particularly enjoyable durring social events. Your judgement of my character seems to be mostly accurate.
Bub.com seems to be offline! What shall I do if i want to see these lovely pictures? And how did they get that beautiful name? Looking for answers here Jay! Please please please give them a huge thank you for the idea with the fish. never thought of that!
bau m haus Bub Enterprises had financial difficulties resulting in the closure of the company. Some of the employees tried to reopen, and I don’t know if they have been very successful.
They are small, and not very manly seeming... But they're fun. Sure, they're not aggressive and shouty and noisy, they're, fizzy, happy and make you laugh. Not what some people want, but others don't want a raging muscle car that takes tons of effort just to keep it straight, let alone corner, they want a car that's balanced and delicate and allows them to exercise their skill and passion behind the wheel. I had one, it had a minor argument with a lorry, but I'd have another. They cheer you up.
I must say this machine is really well built and well Engineered Much Respect to Chris Car , but the new Driver is much prettier and sexier than Chris is ja ja ja I just might purchase that Book and DVD .. I have EJ Potters Book on what was the fasted Drag Bike with 327 Chevy engine and some very Amazing pulling Tractors with V-12 Allison Aircraft Engines in them ..
Thats cause Jay is a true car lover/gear head. This is my favorite channel on youtube.
Without a doubt this is now the coolest automobile show on the planet. So easy to relate to the people involved, so real. Seriously, who wants to look at exotics no one can afford? Well I do but I hope you see my point about the great work Jay Leno is doing here.
"Low cohoficient of drag".
I laughed and groaned at the same time, classic.
Agreed. hes very humble. he doesnt have this mightier than thou attitude that most in his position has
What a beautiful and inspiring engine! Wow! Blown away.....
Coho-Fish-ent of drag. Two puns in one. I love it.
"The faster you go, the quieter it gets, because you're outrunning the sound."
What a mindfuck.
you're catching up to it, actually. lol.
If this is the Chris Carr I think it is he was a very successful flat track racer for years and a champion.
Everytime I've gone through North Bay I've said when asked, I went through it like it was standing still. The remarkable dude that runs these builds has my kinda humour bone.

Love this human.
Awesome! We need more motorcycles :)
Great bunch of people. Met Dennis at Bonneville in 2012.
Great engineering :)
Please talk about the Miata you have there on the background
wow, the part where he's describing escaping the sound barrier is surreal.
Great video! More motorcycles, please.
that was great! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
did they reupload it?
Nice piece again Jay,
Love the history. When are you going to Bonneville Jay? I thing you could do a great sierras from there.
I remember watching Chris Carr flat track racing in his rookie year at the Fairgrounds in New Orleans. He was fast right from the start.
"These controls right here are for my rocket launchers." "This torpedo button here."
Coolest sentences ever
I love that garage.
Funny how the segments I think are going to be dull, turn out to be the more interesting ones. Thanks guys.
Great idea, love those little Miatas. This one seems to be quite modded as well! :)
reminds me of the fastest Indian. when he was poring his own pistons. two parts Chevy, one part Ford.
That was awesome
I like that Miata (red) in the background. Make a video on that please!
Those Bikes Were So Cool Jay
Own that on Blu-Ray, its a amazing movie.
LOL you killed me with that comment... I cant stop laughing
Miata looks so clean and tastefull aftermarket parts on it.
That is a very interesting video! Great
that guy should be famous, he's a legend.
GREAT stuff!
That motor is ridiculous! How do you even start to build something like that?!? SMH in amazement.
Lovely Miata in the background, maybe a possibility for an Miata/MX-5 feature?
C'mon Leno, no ride this time.LOL Thanks for the video. Chris Carr is a serious hero of mine.
Jay, please do an episode on the Miata in the background.
The car looks really menacing and I am very curious about the kind mods that you have made to the car. It looks like some pretty major things have been done to it.
thank you very much lol i never seen one before and its a cool lookin car
Jay please please please PLEASE do a video of that Miata. Lately I have fallen totally in love with them and I would love to see yours. Please!
Jay Leno would be the Coolest Dad. + all His friends are super Cool with Super Cool Stuff.
I love how people are more interested in a modified Miata rather then THE WORLDS FASTEST MOTORCYCLE.
Fascinating.
Did you get them to sign the book?
yes Jay, pretty Cool... ;o) Thanks...
You can tell he's a real fan of just raw speed.
I'm watching this at 2:00 am. Just thought I should share.
Yeah, That was really cool.
I like the speed wrench pointer
yes
awesome
YES
At the end..."This is pretty cool, huh?"... Yes Sir, very much so.
Jay is your video crew microphoning the guests? Sometimes it seems that you can't hear them. I love the show!
Put the wing on the Countach Jay!!
He was a dealer mechanic, loved cars, found out he could make people laugh, without the laugh I don't think he could have afforded his hobby to the extent he does.

No HD Anymore?
Very cool.
was thinking the exact same thing! =)
that belly really steals the show
both miatas, the white one is a earlier model though, not sure of the year cause they are only glimpses.
Once I went 45 MPH on a motorbike and it scared the crap out of me.
very cool
would be awesome if you could get the thrust ssc guys in to talk about the land speed record and the bloodhound ssc
thw white one? i thought that was a lotus
or the red one?
whats the little red car by the atom?

Fat Howard still around ???
I'm cutting parts for medical, communications, and military apps these days, just up the hill from Crown Point Circle.
This shop has potential in the real world.
No 720p?
did the guy eat one or two of the old bikes?
What, you didn't take it for a ride ?!
it's highly illegal and also impossible to drive on the street.
They could have transported the thing to the closest ring. How far is it to Burbank (where Jay's garage is situated)?
@eddiewinehosen I have been told that I am a subpar partygoer and not particularly enjoyable durring social events. Your judgement of my character seems to be mostly accurate.
@eddiewinehosen What is "joking"?
mr leno may i have your miata? por favor?
What! No test ride?
Come on Jay

I was so hoping for the............."can we take it for a ride?".............
When the squids on their R1's boast of their ballsy run down a highway, I just bring up Chris Carr's name. Mr. Titanium Cajones.
It won't move from a stop due to gearing, but on the salt it is spinning at 150+mph
His profile reminds me of Randy from trailer park boys
I'm missing the "Let's take it for a ride"-part
who says a Sportster is slow?
No Problemo
