  • This video is the first in a new series entitled "Sayings to Photograph By." This video will consider my saying "Take What Nature Gives You." Not all videos need to consider equipment as there is so much more to photography than just equipment. We will consider philosophies, techniques, mindsets, and more that can affect your nature photography and your nature photography experience.

Well said. A bad day out in nature is still better than a good day at the office.

Great video. Lee tells it like it is. Much of what he said reminded me of when I was a beginner.

Thank you Lee, very inspiring stuff. I had a bad day trying to shoot some surfers. Bad light, bad surf and my lens probably was not up to it ( or I just was not getting the best out of it!). I returned to our apartment in a grumpy mood, because that was the only day on our holiday that I was able to get out for 4-5 hours. Then, upon reflection, I thought, "Well I was 50% better with the controls of the camera than last year and I was getting the shot. My timing was out, my composition was crap - but I controlled the dials much better." It was a good day, it just did not turn out as expected. Next year 😅. Thank you for your thoughts, very useful. 🎉🎉🎉

So many "nuggets of wisdom" for better photography! Love your videos and "down to earth" style. As a Yankee by birth, but a Southerner by the Grace of God, I say that you are a hoot! And that's a great thing! ;o)

I’ve watched most of your videos so far and I think this is my favorite. Taking what nature gives you and being grateful and positive about it is such great advice. Thanks again for making these. I’ve been doing bird photography since 1986 and I still feel like I’ve learned something important from every one of them.

Lee, if it was too windy, you should have rented yourself out as a windbreak. The ultimate camera accessory.

    hi lee
your words are almost philosophical. and very true. I am currently looking at a lighter camera system, for that reason I am now more concerned with the technical side of photography, but when I have figured that out, I will simply focus on photography again. Fighting nature is a pointless activity that you always lose. nature always wins over humanity. move with nature, make it your best friend and you will be happy and come home with the most beautiful images. thank you for this inspiring video. greetings from the Netherlands ❤️

Great wisdom Lee. Photography in nature should remove stress not create it. It should be about escaping the problems the rest of life hands us.

Dang, Lee.... I wish you'd tell us what you REALLY think! This was awesome.🤠 Seriously, thank you for an inspiring message. I live in western New Mexico. The wind is 40-50 mph today. Good day to read the camera manual.

Question on your macro. Do you use a Godox flash or any flash? Also solid points. That would be kinda awkward seeing a guy crying for not getting his photo. Guess he was really looking forward to it.

I did use Godox and switched to OM System flashes as they just seem to have better communication to me.
