Like create an entrance is great. The move-set creator seems great. It is such a shame that the main create a wrestler appears very limited. Creation is probably one of my fav parts of a wrestling game, creating my own characters and put them all in matches. I'm delaying getting the game anyways since I'm between jobs right now, but I do hope they expand with more parts and face templates for the creation suite.
I'm with you. After watching this video I won't be buying right away. I'll keep checking in every few months to see where there CAW suite is at. And I'm so done with 2k Creation. Fight Forever is too limited and 2k is too in depth. Creating a wrestling from scratch should be hours of work. But it shouldn't be 15 minutes either. Ya know?

The CAW is limited ash. How are you not even gonna give me a full beard option. It’s not like Brodie Lee and Bryan Dainelson have them. But tbh, there are some pretty cool and innovative options that 2K would never go for. The animated arena props and the weapon entrances, the blood stained mat, the New Japan corner pads. Here’s hoping they can patch some better facial customisation and clothing options.
You’ve got to remember that this is essentially a base game, with new updates and add ons coming in the future, yes it is pretty bare bones (that’s putting it lightly) like dry bones bare bones, but let’s hope with the next update or 2 that they do add in a fair bit of CAW stuff, if not then what did they do for the amount of time this game was delayed for? Also sucks that most of the tights can’t even have the basic knee pads over the top of them which is pretty whack
if they make another game in the future, they gotta up the customization by a lotta percent. the old Smackdown VS Raw games i would spend hours making a rosters worth of character it was so fun what you could do. the lack of customization in this kinda killed any interest i had in getting this

Is there a faster way to scroll through the ring announcer names? I literally froze my game because I had to hold down on the analog stick for like two minutes straight to get from W to K.
That's a shame, I buy every wwe game and I hate wwe i only watch aew, but i buy it because i like to create my wrestlers and my little universe, and I believe that's the reason a lot of people buy those games, and seing this lackluster create a wrestler mode really soured me on the game, I noticed they hadn't shown absolutely nothing of it and now I know why. I have ben seeking a game where i have total freedom especially with the entrance music. sadly the last game that this was allows was wwe 2k14... all games after you need tools to swap music and i am hoping aew provided middle finger to wwe and brought the feature back.
This is exactly what I'd expect from YUKES. This is like how Virtual Pro Wrestler 2 worked, and all the other games they worked on. The changes to all the details to the body end up causing more visual glitches and collision issues.
There is two problems with creating a superstar on AEW Fight Forever is if the superstar has more then one set of tattoos like The Undertaker & Rey Mysterio you can't put more than one set of tattoos on the created superstars so they will come out wrong unless you want to take the time to mod the game if you know how to & you can't put designs on the clothing if the superstar has a design or two on there clothes like Triple H does & some superstar's do these days so till they come out with a patch to fix these your created superstars will look wrong.
When I try an use the items under Full Body option in Ring Attire they all have these marks on them when I click on them they say “This cannot be used with your current attire.” I take every thing off my creation I can but they still won’t work. Then mark isn’t the money mark but an “!” Mark

Creation suite isn't the best looking, but I feel this will be patched and updated overtime, I'm a fan of the more generic looking attires so it appeals to me but I can definately see where this limits a lot of people. All the same, this isn't the same creation suite we're dealing with in 2K; as we'll need to bring these characters through Road to Elite in order to apply attributes to make them worthwhile for generic play. It seems A LOT of people who already have access to this game are playing using the AEW stars anyway, so I don't see this as crippling. Thanks for sharing!
My thoughts: Pros: Love the camera angle. Been waiting 15+ years for WWE to have a game that lets us look at something other than the crowd. The controls are basically No Mercy, which is great. I appreciate how fast you can pull an opponent to their feet (I don't like having to hold the R button all the way up). Although I don't see a need for needing to press 2 buttons to springboard. If this is just the foundation from which they'll build then, slow clap. Cons: It's not tight. It feels like if Battlegrounds was a wrestling game then this is what it would be. A bit too arcadey for me. Needs to be crisper for sure. If there are 40+ weapons I can only seem to pull about 8 or 10. And oftentimes taking out the same weapon 3 or 4 times in a row. There should be something which allows us to choose ahead of time which ones we want. The tables need work. This walking into them and they falling apart is nonsense. I'd also appreciate if we could get up on them ala SYM. Is there a way to climb the stages or at least above the tunnels because there should be; the more interactivity the better. Is there even an announcers desk? This same janky counter for top rope moves with the overhead belly to belly looks bad. More variety here. The physics with the exploder in the corner when you bring up on thin air is bad as well. Can we not simply just turn off things such as 10 counts and rope breaks?
You really must be a real No Mercy player. They added the 2 button springboard feature for VPW2 and any game that followed because of the gameplay mechanics they added. The N64 controller was limited on what you could do with button configuration. VPW2 is when could run grapple so they had to combine AB to negate that from disrupting springboard
The only reason I get Wrestling, So I can put WWE out of business with my Company RPW. Since Smackdown 2. CAW is the only reasin we buy. Not to be The Undertaker but to beat him at WrestleMania or be the first ever 17 WWE Champion. Make your own history. Damn the Next main focus should be the best CAW mode ever. (It's already hard to beat)

Reading a lot of the negativity and, although I expected more from the game myself, maybe I’m just a bit spoilt with wrestling games. Let’s give them credit. Yeah, yukes have been making wrestling games for years, but it’s important to remember: 1) It’s a totally new game engine and all the assets have been built from the ground up. 2) AEW has literally only existed for a few years and this is their first game 3) How long it took WWE games constantly building on what they had each year to get to the standard they are now. Just give it time!

I didn’t say it was worth the price. In fact I said myself that I expected more from the title. I’ll definitely be waiting for it to go on offer before I buy it myself. All I’m saying is SVR 11 for example was still using the same game engine introduced in the first smackdown titles 10 years earlier. Yukes have said themselves that was one of the reasons they wanted to do something new anyway. They have made a point of saying prior to release that they are building a lot of things from the ground up (regardless of if they look familiar in the end product). Considering they’re experimenting with a few things now they’re free from the restrictions of the 2k series, there was probably a danger that trying to do that, plus all the things we have got used to over the last decade, might have put us in danger of something like 2k20. Honestly, although I don’t personally think it’s worth the money, and although Yukes are experienced enough to know how to make wrestling games, I’d much rather they make a good albeit scaled back game than risk going too ambitious right out the gate and trying to mirror everything they’ve done before.
My betting is (similar to how they scaled things back in different ways when they moved from 2k14 to 2k15) they wanna focus on getting the basics of the new approach right and then they’ll either patch in some of the additional features we’re used to or reintroduce them in AEWs next title (obviously I’m hoping it’s the patch option)

It's pretty bare bones which I'm hoping gets updated soon. The character creation I feel like could the game's only saving grace at this point.

Yeah this is shockingly limited. I'll probably still buy the game, but for the price this is very disappointing creation-wise.

Reading a lot of the negativity and, although I expected more from the game myself, maybe I’m just a bit spoilt with wrestling games.
Let’s give them credit.
Yeah, yukes have been making wrestling games for years, but it’s important to remember:
1) It’s a totally new game engine and all the assets have been built from the ground up.
2) AEW has literally only existed for a few years and this is their first game
3) How long it took WWE games constantly building on what they had each year to get to the standard they are now.
Just give it time!

I didn’t say it was worth the price. In fact I said myself that I expected more from the title. I’ll definitely be waiting for it to go on offer before I buy it myself.
All I’m saying is SVR 11 for example was still using the same game engine introduced in the first smackdown titles 10 years earlier. Yukes have said themselves that was one of the reasons they wanted to do something new anyway. They have made a point of saying prior to release that they are building a lot of things from the ground up (regardless of if they look familiar in the end product). Considering they’re experimenting with a few things now they’re free from the restrictions of the 2k series, there was probably a danger that trying to do that, plus all the things we have got used to over the last decade, might have put us in danger of something like 2k20.
Honestly, although I don’t personally think it’s worth the money, and although Yukes are experienced enough to know how to make wrestling games, I’d much rather they make a good albeit scaled back game than risk going too ambitious right out the gate and trying to mirror everything they’ve done before.
My betting is (similar to how they scaled things back in different ways when they moved from 2k14 to 2k15) they wanna focus on getting the basics of the new approach right and then they’ll either patch in some of the additional features we’re used to or reintroduce them in AEWs next title (obviously I’m hoping it’s the patch option)
