Dexterity Build Gothic2 Notr (Archer)

- I decided to play archer in gothic 2 NOTR , since i alwasy been playing 2h and 1h builds. ( which are i must admit more fun coz of parry, with bow its just point and shoot, but bow can be also fun since its so powerfull xD )
Pure dex build turned to be super easy and bow's are easy to find or buy.
All i did from start was investing LP to dex untill 64 (10-29, 29-34 ,34-59- 59-64,to save as much LP you learn Like this ) after that i started brewing dex elixirs and learning stone tablets , i drunk about 11 elixiers so far, dex is about 150 with dex gear and its only chapter II. So far i been clearing Gothic very easy exept for the Trolls who are immune to arrows and still alive since i can't bother runnign aroudn them and hiting wiht melee for 20min per one. I just started NOTR expansion so i am frapsing to show you how good is bowman at killing so far pure dex build.
Keep in mind that this build isn't nearly done. This is only Chapter 2 i still have lots of tablets to read and to brew dex pots later , and i plan to level 1h skill later on for the fun xD and for some monsters who are immune to archery like stupid trolls . we have dex based weapons in NOTR like Master sword ( 120 dmg req 60 dex + 10% 1h )that you can already equp in chapter 1 with this build.

At start you have 10
Max DEX only with bonuses as Paladin 156, without using Goblin Berries to potions 122
Max DEX only with bonuses as Mage 161, without using Goblin Berries to potions 127
Max DEX only with bonuses as Dragon Hunter 171, without using Goblin Berries to potions 137
- If you are mage, Tears Of Innos +5 CH5
- Paladin can get Amulet of Agility already in CH2, near Xardas tower
- Also there is a about 14% chance that a paladin or a knight has Goblin Berry in their inventory, if you knock them out you can get it, but their inventory is randomly generated at the beginning. Also if you can't knock them out (too weak mage etc.) you still have chance to find those if they are killed, like when orcs attack the castle or when seeker kills the two knights at pass of Khorinis. - Ігри

I feel like Gothic 2 is having a resurgence of players as of late 2020-early 2021. I'm so glad this gem of a game is getting love to this day. Awesome build. I definitely want to try this out now!
It does seem like it, the videos suddenly got 20- 30 thousands of views while they used to be at -1k, may be it's the reboot?
Also I think crossbow is more effective :b
@@solidbeared Deals higher damage per hit, but also much slower and requires a crap ton of strength to use. So nah.

Bruh, your vid made me play through G2 NOTR as a pure archer, and that was the most fun I've had with a game for a long time, thanks, mate! Even in 2021, G2 is simply one of the best.

when he's running with the bow in one hand and the arrow in another it looks hilarious.
I'm always learning to 94 my main attribute, and after then I use the bonuses.
I'm playing Gothic 1-2 from time to time since 2006. Right now I play the Gothic 2 gold together with two of my friends. I have Paladin, they have Mage and Mercenary chars :D I help them alot with advices (being a veteran Gothic player) and they really enjoy the game. I'm about to start a new playthough with ranger build for the first time and I do a little research before starting it. I usually stream when I play for my close friends, if you like watch a few videos in twitch.tv (my name is Feodarus). We play a bit Gothic and LoL with my friends :)
Idk if you already know this but there is a Bandit NPC called Skinner in the bandit camp of Jharkendar who has a 1h Sword stronger than the Master Sword but I think it requires more Dexterity idk I finished the game about 3 weeks ago with the Dex build and I gotta say going through the Halls of Irdorath and its goons was more interesting than fighting the Undead Dragon.
Yeah its stronger but doesnt have %10 one handed swords becasue of that I keep using master sword.

Since it's a pure dex build, did you put any LP at all into bow? And at what point?
the most atrocious mechanic in G 2: archery/crossbow. is uses a percentage and distance from u and the target, that's why I either jump to a plateu where enemies ca't get me or use a sword

You can get 101 dex from bonuses so it's possible on lv 23. You can have even 260-270 dex on lv 50 and with dragon bow you can deal 430dmg :)
whats the bow that u were using in this video. Also where I can find it?
It is Oak Bow 140dmg... You can buy it from Bosper in chapter 4 and from Khaled in chapter 1.
Can find it in VoM as well in 4th chapter

Oak bow is also in the mining colony, near new camp, if you go from the Angar crypt to the new camp you have dragon snappers cave by the way, and there is that bow. About the build I think its not good to make pure archer, I like to add some strenght and one handed skill to 34, dexterity 1h weapons are really good too in the early- mid game

I have this weird bug or something I don't know whenever I shoot a bow the arrow can't hit past like 3-4 meters I don't know why.
Thast wierd did you train your skills?
Well, I didn't but it could be that's the problem. thx I'll try improving them to see if it fixes anything.

your dexterity determines what bow you can use, and archery damage (bow+dex). The bow skill (or crossbow) determines the distance you can hit. If you have no skill in bow or crossbow, you can only hit stuff point blank range. The higher the skill the further you can hit. Really you don't need bow or crossbow skill unless your an archer build, hitting point blank for full damage is still great. Even as a archer I wouldn't take more than 34 starting bow skill, just lets you hit at a slightly longer range. You should pump more into dex so you can do more damage, not shoot further. You can use basic scrolls (or spells as a mage) to lure foes closer to you.
@@eolsunder even with starting stats you can hit at a quite longer distance than point blank, but the chance is very low. The bow/crossbow stats improve the hitting chance, which also depends on distance.
where are the two potions of dex near onar's farm ?
where is the other potion ?.
@@BennieBrunink the other one is near the bandits behind sekob's farm. the ones where you get proof for weapon's dealer. you need to climb their tent and from there is a plank leading forward. there you will find the second dex potion and a fire rain scroll ;)
one is in the field beasts cave (where we have mission to help that mercenary to clean the nest) and second is near bandit camp behind the Sekob farm. I know its 6 years ago comment but maybe it will help someone too ;d

Yes that would be even stronger build in the end. I was impatious to equp better bows so i started bonuse from 64 and its still bad ass.
yep even with 64 starting bonus you can use just items/prayers/boosts to reach 160 dex for the best bow, I think its more important to get your 1 handed skill to 75 (so you can reach 100 crit eventually) and use points otherwise. Many foes are much easier to kill with your master rapier than with a bow (orcs, lizardmen, etc) because you can't really dodge or block with bows, but easy to do with melee. My mage started off with 64 dex and reached I think 165+ dex later in the game, and got 100 in 1 handed to crit hit every time with master rapier, plus had spells, skinning, languages, thieving skills, and all the other stuff. A high dex build is great in all catagories. melee, archery, skills, pickpocket (and mage if you go the mage route).
@@eolsunder the only place i find worthy of using rapier is when fighting against Trolls, cuz trolls are immune to arrow hits

@@Cmpunmu3 I prefer Master Sword for trolls because rapier has short range (one is in Xardas' tower in the Valley of Mines)
@@holyshit922 it may be so, but as i remember, such swords need STR, which is a pain in the ass to raise, cause i tried to escape most battles by using bow - and it worked fine. maybe my next walkthrough i'll try STR melee weapons and crossbows
why to get so close to your enemies, is it impossible to shoot from far distance?
without the bow or crossbow skill you can only hit point blank range. You still do high damage (dex+bow) but you can't shoot stuff far away, so you have to run up close and blast away. At the most 34 skill will let you shoot a bit further, and you'll gain some points naturally with items and boosts, so the actual bow or crossbow skill isn't super important for shooting further. You'll do fine with 0 invested, like if your playing mage, paladin, etc who has high dex for pickpocket/archery reasons. I never put any into bow/xbow UNLESS im playing a pure merc archer with higher than normal dexterity.
It is possible, but with low bow skill you have a very low chance of hitting
I played dexterity build. Hero can kill dragon using 4-6 shots
Yeah, just completed the game with an archer a week ago, last boss was like 8-10 shots.

I've played same build month ago. Ended up at act 5 with 180 dex, 82 archery, and 50 LP at level 47. Didn't finish the irdorath part as it is boring as hell. Straight line, with Two or three backs for Information. Yes i could go way higher with dex, as i got bonuses at 80dex, but tbh for me, Archer is absolute nightmare without high archery, and beeing unable to hit targets from far away. Chapter 1-3 is awful because of that. Yes, after bonuses it went smooth as Butter, but before is sucks.
You all say the Archer is better than melee, which is not true at all. Melee gets to endgame waaaaaaay faster if you know how to play it. I find melee build way smoother to play. Dragons get anihilated the same, with berserker axe. 3-5 hits is enough. The only build I've never played is mage. Can't sit to it tho.
Archer build is way too op. I remember killing the dragons in like 5 shots...
While Warriors are struggling to even land a blow on the dragons. And even if they did, the dragons will just blast them away with fire breath and regenerate in a moment's notice.
@@stellarknight04 yeah I use skeleton parc because of that. And even of I can hit things critic doesnt blow with %90 sword.
Savegame would give us more info about build than screenshot
while this is not a screenshot, I agree, a link to a savefile would've been nice

If i have savefile i will be able create this build on my own while screenshot gives me not enough info about this build to create it myself

@@holyshit922 there is nothing indicating cheating, you can get 150 dex very early if you get all the permanent bonusses
+10 from praying at a shrine, +1 from rengaru, +42 from self brewed potions, +6 from looted potions, +24 from stoneplates and a bit here and there from additional goblin berries
you only need something around 60 trained dex and even less if you get all the temporary dex items (belt, amulett, 2 rings = 30 dex)
he said himself that he started using dex bonusses early
if you absolutely min max the game you can achieve 90% 1 handed (+10% from best sword) ~90-100% archery and both 160 str/dex by chapter 5 but it's a lot of effort unless you memorized all the item locations x)

160 str/dex 90% one handed , 100% archery and also secondary skills like (alchemy, languages, picking locks etc)

he's at 76% bow skill so I assume he already ran out of learning points
it is possible and I recently did a dragon hunter playthrough with ~160 str/dex
90% one handed, I believe 96% archery (was aiming for 94 but had points left)
dex/strength potions, ancient language 3 (obviously)
lock picking, pick pocketing and 3 trophy skills for pelts, shadow beast horns and dragon blood
at irdorath I would've been able to brew two embarla firgasto and I believe an additional 4 permanent potions
I could only find german build guides that are similar to what I did
oh and obviously this is extreme min-maxing it's not very fun for everyone I personally do it from time to time but usually go for pure str melee builds because you have to keep track of items so much xD

maybe, but i'm level 41 now and have Bow 84%, Dexterity 154. Unused 33LP. Str 54 (I was thinking it will make more damage to my Dex sword, but i don't think it did). And one-handed 49%.
When i raised one-handed % i noticed some differences to melee damage (which i use only on trolls, cause they immune to arrow shots).
Also i brew as many Dex potions i could, drank them all and used all stone tablets for archery and dex.
This guy really looks like not far away from my stats, but only level 23 :D

The sword damage comes from
Weapon damage and the Str
But you wont make much more dmg, but you will make MUUCHH more dmg if you CRIT :)
@@tokmemes4464 it's somewhat silly that sharp arrows won't pierce a troll, but a sharp sword would. Shame to spend points on Str when you dont need it that much

Archer, mage is lame true wariors have swords and fight like a man.
archer is best, mage is lame its not about a honour but about game mechanics
