This one is a real ROCKER. Leslie West, the frontman and guitarist for Mountain was a force to be seen live. A very large man at 5'11" and over 300 pounds he certainly had stage presence with his vocals and guitar impossible not to notice him. A True Classic Rock Classic for sure.
Mountain was a great band, saw them twice at festivals. Leslie had a hard time with his weight, lost a leg because of his diabetes and died a few years ago, but he was talented
When I saw Mountain, the drummer poured lighter fluid all over his drums. In the middle of the next song he lit the drumsticks on fire, and as he played, the drums "spewed" fire everywhere. This was in the late 70's or early 80's.... and of course would NEVER be allowed to happen in today's time!
Fronted by the late Leslie West (R.I.P), a 300+ pound guitar maestro and lead singer here, and bass provided by Felix Pappalardi (also gone), this '70's band was one of the power trios, like Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience......and they were LOUD ! 🤘........
Mountain during this recording was Leslie West-Guitar and Vocals, Felix Papalardi-Bass and Producer, and Corky Lang-Drums and More Cowbell!!! The album "Climbing" is full of great songs, and should be listened to in total. Time and energy well spent. Keep on ROCKIN'.
I see the Notification... JM did MOUNTAIN- "MISSISSIPPI QUEEN"... I smile and think... Oh Boy, he's going to like this one and It will get plenty of views.
Amazing band. Mountain kicks ass. Definitely react to their song Nantucket Sleighride. It's dedicated to Owen Coffin. Read what happened to Owen Coffin and the choice he made. Coffin and another name in the song-Starbuck-are distant cousins in my wife's Nantucket Island ancestry. She's descended from all of the original families of the Nantucket Colony. Thanks for your reactions! Thoughtful and real.
Another old banger that earned it's 5th degree black belt in Cowbell (that may even beat out (don't fear) The Reaper in that department) is Whiskey Train" by early "Procol Harum" when Guitarist Robin Tower was still with them..Damn good one from the mid-60's!
This song has to be on anyone's list for top ten pure rock 'n roll songs of all time..And no, although one can understandably be mistaken that they were from the Deep South, they were not..They were from the NYC/Long Island area.
Some say that the song talks about the good times Laing had with a Southerner stripper. According to other variations, Laing's lyrics, which made most of the song, were inspired by the drunk girlfriend of a friend of his, who joined a wild summer party wearing nothing but a see-through sunny dress. But who knows.
Zakk Wylde -"Mississippi Queen" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 ua-cam.com/video/vgTDBwB_v2I/v-deo.htmlsi=m7laEw2CMujV_3Nu This cover by Zakk Wylde and his guitar solo will amaze you.

This is one of those classics that deserves to be in your awesome Playlist of great bands.
Love you youngsters catchin' up on our old school music.
CRANK IT UP! Hit the outdoor speaker switch and let my valley hear this rocker. Spark up my pipe and hit the drum kit. Thanks, again.
Iconic tune. Beats the brakes off of expectations

Another great song choice.... Classic!!!
Listen to Nantucket Sleighride live next. FANTASTIC!!!
Only thing wrong with this song is that it's about 10 minutes too short! RIP Mr. West.

This is one nasty heavy guitar blues rock banger!
This is on the Mt. Rushmore of rock songs!

My Drum Kit has 18 various Cowbells.... Just because.
And 132 other things you can hit with a stick. JM has seen my kit "8-Ball"
More cowbell! I'm really feeling Cowbell!
Ya look like you're enjoying this. I am too.
Love Leslie's tone. Loud and screechy.

The only thing wrong with this one is, it’s not long enough.
What the Hells Angels called a "ride song". We remember well when the Angels started setting up shop in the deep south. Early 70s'.
Cool video .
This song is from the early 70's. It's not the official video.
I never had the impression that this was about a boat.
omg....I smoked many a doobie in high school to this song lol
Check out the live version!
