  • Today I wanted to share some waves from the last run of North swell we had over on the west side of Maui. There are a lot of special waves on this island and many different ways to approach them, some are spectacles for the masses whilst others hold personal significance. A good session at Little Makaha is like peanut butter ice cream for the twin fin enthusiast, it features a perfect blend of all the key components: point break style length and flow, edgey bowls of buttery smooth dredgey goodness, the odd helping of a highline, a spoonful of opportunities for a swoop or two and the luscious offering of a steep lip for a cheeky smack or full-fledged fanged-out gouge. I'm not sure if it makes for good filming but it certainly makes for a fun journey through waves of pleasure, the motions of fun. I couldn't think of a more perfect playground for a board like my SUP: the 6'8" Escape Pod from Infinity. This board is just so me, and I'm so happy it's a model on Infinity's roster, as I know it'll give paddlers a chance at unique fun, and a highly internalized sense of joy. While other performance models make you "feel like a pro", this board might just let you feel like yourself out there on the water, and allow for a little exploration into the passion of surfing, and the freedom of speed. I encourage everyone to give fun a chance, set aside the spectacle and embrace the personal.
