In blender 4.2 it's Shift+X when you are in texture mode. I think they have changed this keybind a while back. If you want to smooth your shading you can do so by clicking on the model in object mode right click and select smooth shading.
Hope you like this one, this is pretty much how I warmup daily before tackling larger objects. I spend around 1 hour doing studies either values or just hand painting something in the area "which would be directly connected to my daily work task". love your tutorials, im happy i stumbled upon your channel! thank you for the videos I tried 3dCoat, as it seems to be the preferred software for this handpainted style from courses I took, but the UI just seems to be hard to navigate for me, and there isnt alot of tutorials so im just sticking with Substance Painter and Blender for now lol!
Glad you like it, also there is addon for layer system for blender. I am not sure if it's updated for latest versions of blender though. And that is one of the reasons why people prefer 3D coat over blender for hand painting. But my guess is Blender will have layer system soon too so once that happens 3D coat is pretty much out of question for alot of artists. :)
I am not sure you can mask out complex geometry as precise as youd want too at least this is not something that I know how to do. There might be addon or maybe setting up layer painting mode with nodes or simply using addon which adds something such as photoshop layer system to blender. 3d coat handles this much better though since you can use ID maps to isolate specific parts on geometry.
Try turning off normal falloff. It's in the falloff sub menu on the right, when you are using brush settings. He has this feature on, though maybe he has it modified to a higher value
What shortcuts you use to quickly paint and switch colors?? And also how you hide the sharp edges while painting??

I learned a lot from your videos
Happy to help!
Amazing work! Do you use your mouse to paint or some other hardware?
I use wacom cintiq 16 prior to that I had wacom intuos pro and it served me well for a long time when I was just starting out.
@@Niko_3D nice, thank you for the quick response!
How do you mask off areas to prevent over painting into them with complex geometry?

Which mode of material have you used ?
Base color, normal, displace or bump or something else ?
Just base color. Everything is hand-painted.
How u cover the edges. When I tried to paint i can't really pait over the edges it's still visible sharp ..why?
I have the same problem
