I actually made a couple of tweaks to the bomb bay mechanism after shooting this and it works even better! (These changes are reflected i the instructions of course). Also, make sure to check out the excellent Scarif Surf Club video for some ADDITIONAL mods you can do to add a second pilot/bombardier figure! ua-cam.com/video/xuETl0NTu4s/v-deo.html
I personally moved the faux chute forward so that it is two studs back from the front. I looked at some of the cross section books and it was too far back
bro just came and said "hey you know the two things people are complaining about? yeah I fixed those casually without hurting the playability of the model, and it even looks better"
Dude, when I saw what you did with the new mechanism for the bomb dropping, especially with the back exhaust looking perfect and also having a spinning function, I kid you not, I was in total awe. Amazing job man, love your stuff.
Tie Shuttle/Boarding Craft with minimal piece additions would really extend the playability of this Tie Bomber - I like the idea of being able to play out different mission types
Little tip, you can put the pilot's pistol in the small shelf in the cockpit where the hinge is, it fits in there barely, but it works! He doesn't need to hold it so akwardly like that XD
Hell yea. Please do turn it into a tie shuttle. I've not seen anyone do it on yt yet so whenever someone searches for the tie shuttle that video would pop up at the top. The tie shuttle is a underrated ship
The Tie Shuttle sounds like a grand idea! I wish lego would make larger variety of different Tie's instead the remaking the original over and over. Finally getting a proper Tie Bomber was like a breath of fresh air! I loved the red Tie Baron from years ago and rumor is that we're getting a Tie Interceptor later in the year!
@@2bricks The rumor is that it is part of a two pack that is similar to the A-Wing vs Darth Vader's Tie Fighter set from years back. It'll be a $100 Interceptor vs Mandalorian Fang Fighter set from the Mandalorian show. It's supposedly part of the summer wave of Star Wars sets. I'm pumped even though we just got a Fang Fighter not to long ago!
I have the Y wing you mentioned and I have no idea how I didn't think of this! Definately will be rebuilding my bomber, this mechanism feels way better than the flick missiles!
The new bomb feature is such an ingenious design, I love it! I wonder if we'll get a new redeemed Anakin/Vader head for the rumored Death Star Final Duel diorama. I'd love to see a video about the Tie-Shuttle.
Thanks!!! I’m so happy to know people get value out of these! You never can tell when you’re elbow deep in Lego parts of all the effort you’re putting in will mean anything to anyone.
Nice modifications! Only change I would make is a hinged panel for the roof of the bombing mechanism so on display it would have no gaps. I haven't had a chance to modify mine yet, as I was only able to order one the other day!
Great work on changing the cockpit so easily. I like more the bombona mechanism from covering the hole. A conversion to a TIE Shuttle would be greatly appreciated
Honestly I'm kinda surprised that I haven't seen any "Turn your TIE bomber into a TIE boarding craft" videos. But I think the boarding craft isn't that recognizable and it didn't have that much screen time.
Great mods here, and definitely agree about the lack of coordination of color in that cockpit. Love your continued use of those half round flat pieces with the hole in the middle... makes me think of that new Stinger Mantis design... any updates on how that project's coming???
Great modifications! Much better than Lego's own idea. I'd still want a shooter missle for the front little hole. I might do the rubber band bomb drop from the original Bomber.
Honestly, this is the real issue with Lego sets now a days. It's not about printing on min-figs or hole placement on the helmets or even getting more prequel era sets. The true problem is the quality and play features of play sets. I also forgot to mention that another problem is making more unique sets. There are a lot of CIS sets that Lego can make or remake.
That design screams for a light-brick to replace that brick behind the cockpit that you showed off - you could easily light up the cockpit and that'd look cool from the now hollowed out window :)
Huh. The droid with the imperial logo on its side, is that a Cargo box, with "Cargo" in Aurebesh then written on the back? If so, did Lego just invent Cargo Gonks or were those canon before? Thinking about this and hearing you mention the comics, I might need to look into a few of those. To abate the Hunger.
@@2bricks Is this confirmation of the "Cargo" being on there? It's unclear from the shots and the inventory's not on Bricklink yet. "Pending approval". 😅
They're just reusing an existing piece. The cargo boxes were used in the Armored Marauder and the Mos Eisley Cantina. They used them here for the Imperial logo and I guess they hoped people wouldn't read where it says cargo haha
Ok sorry for bugging you about it but could you PLEASE do a tutorial on how you modified your bombing mechanism, I REALLY want to incorporate it into mine
What still bewilders me about this set ever since I first saw the box leaks….this is a Return of the Jedi anniversary set. The correct vehicle to have done for a Return of the Jedi anniversary set would have been the Tie Interceptor which literally only appears in ROTJ!!!
You’re completely correct - I think they just wanted to make an updated TIE bomber since there hasn’t been one for so long. Of course there hasn’t been an interceptor for quite some time too, but we got things like Major Vonreg’s red one so maybe they felt like the bomber was the better option?
