    Shame the coal industry is under attack by so many ,yelling clean energy wen coal helped build this country,and its miners have suffered at the hands of corporate intrest like they have,

    I have a lovely small Victorian open coal fire and my coal merchant delivers half a ton of coal at the beginning of winter - I now realise what an amateur I am.

    in UK anthracite is £600 per per ton, you would need a mortgage to buy 24 tons

    Who do you call to get 24 tons of rice coal delivered please?
    A friend in Appalachia just started burning anthracite instead of soft coal. Loves it.
    Thank you

    When and if I had the money I would have that much hard coal delivered at me home because right now Pennsylvania is letting China have their hard coal that has raised our price to $380.00 a ton.
    I can get by with only using 3 ton of hard coal a year

      @curtis-thebicentennialist1776 5 років тому

      @@Chris-Fennimore it is a hard (38 HGI) Bituminous. The advantage of anthracite is for the higher fixed carbon, but unless you're a blacksmith, there's no need for it in a boiler/grate system. If you want to nearly eliminate ash disposal time, try Blue Gem stoker.

      Curtis Hopkins is this Bluegem coal good for smithing coal? I’m a Blacksmith and I’m having troubles finding good smithing coal.

      @@poorboytrapper1960 I'm not sure what characteristics are the most sought after for smithing. The only advantage that I see for Anthracite are that it has a higher fixed carbon %. This could be offset by using the ultra low ash Blue Gem and adding pure hardwood charcoal to boost f.c.%. Plenty of you tube vids on how to tort your own charcoal.

    So people still heat with coal so if a Democrat gets back in the white house this burning coal will stop, Obama had three coal plants in my area closed and i really miss the 13,000 ton coal trains that CSX used to run the tracks are hardly used now.

    How does a stove burn such fine grade like "Rice, pea, nut"? what sort of coal grate supports that???. And who's the manufacturer of the stove?, I'am really curious.
    Thanks for sharing !
    Kind regards, Eric Dee.

      +ilililhy1 In NE PA this size coal can be bought at the coal breaker for $170-$180 per ton if you pick it up yourself with a truck or trailer. I paid $170 at the Direnzo Coal Co. breaker and my neighbor just picked up and paid $180 a ton at the Blaschak Coal Co. breaker.

    What's the point in this?

    • @TheUserid82
      @TheUserid82 5 років тому +3

      SouthernWulf as he said he uses the coal for heating over the winter and hot water year round so 24 tons of coal over 10 years puts it at 400-500 per year for heating and hot water.
