Gosh this takes me back ,burning coal ,here in the uk we are not allowed to burn coal anymore,it has to be smokeless composite ,we have no collieries left import coal from all over the world ,madness when we are living on top of billions of tons of it ,we used to get our coal delivered by the coalman inhunded weight hessian sacks ,20 at a time ie one ton ,2to 3 times during the winter ,,my job at quite a young age was to help my Dad put it into the coal house ,that’s how I earned my pocket money ,we had 4open fires and a boiler ,my nana had an old coal fired range for hot water with 3ovens and 2plates that went over the fire to boil the kettle and to cook something in a pan ,Boy oh Boy do I miss the smell of an open fire !

So cool. Never saw them actually unload coal thru the coal chute. Almost all homes around here have them, mine included, but coal went away a LONG time ago. Lots of fuel oil years ago and now we have natural gas pipeline. We still burn wood!

Louisville still has a lot of homes with a coal chute. Coal isn’t used for home heating anymore, which is a shame because it’s 75% cheaper than electric heat. But coal might become useful again. Back in the early days of the automobile, engineers found that a car engine will run just fine on coal powder. It flows just like water. And if you mix coal powder with corn ethanol, you get a cheap and low emissions alternative to gasoline. The corn farmers would be happy. And if you wanted your fuel even cheaper, you could make a deal with the sewage treatment plant: they give you a tanker truck of sewage, then you dump it into a swimming pool with a bunch of brewer’s yeast. (I recommend that you only use your own pool). A few days later, that pool will be ten percent alcohol. Then you pump it back into the tanker truck, and bring it to the distillery. The alcohol will end up costing you around fifty cents a gallon. (Farmers use red-colored diesel, because for some reason they are exempt from taxes). Anyway, you could create a blend of coal powder and ethanol that would run in any modern gasoline powered car. We are forced to pay three dollars a gallon for fuel because of taxes, the unions and the mob. Screw those guys.

If that's true, that's the best piece of knowledge I've ever heard. I know Rudolf Diesel's earliest engines ran off of Biodiesel, and due to history petro-fuels emerged as the clear economic choice for decades.

I didn't think you could burn rice coal Mark stove.

No, I still have both of my stoves. This past year I simply did not feel like making any video's. I had that cold that has been going around, and was just not up to doing video's. Rice coal tends to fall through the grates, Too Small for the Mark series stove's, now called Legacy. Thanks!
