I love the MG but find I repeatedly get shouted at to get into the point. "NO! you get into the point and I cover your approach, once you secure the point I stop theirs. I am not Rambo"
Machine gunner was the first class I took to level 10. Once you learn the a few high and away locations you can just mow down the enemy. The trick to being MG is to get high and about a square away from their garry. You can mow them down without them seeing you while your squad approaches to take it down.
The crunchy music with the gameplay is tempting me to try MG, but I can't. Addicted to increasing my range with the rocket launcher. Accurate to 300 meters so far. Besides, a squad leader asked me to go MG once, I did, he then left the squad. Go figure.

When you get a good position, the mg is the most fun role. It makes me forget about the janky bipods and slow hip fire animation.
