- To make a Caipirinha, you need Limes, Cachaca, and sugar. It's the most popular Cocktail in Brazil
Depending on the brand of cachaca, there are three categories Caipirinha
Basic, Caipirinha Especial andCaipirinha Luxo.
Brazilians always use granulated or powder sugar instead of simple syrup.
When muddling with Crystal sugar, you extract oils from the lime skin
In Brazil, it is served with cubed ice, but bartenders serve it with crushed ice anywhere outside of brazil.
For slower dilution, I prefer to use crunchy and chewable nugget ice!

I'm Brazilian and I'm happy to see our cocktail being well represented here! And on top of that, it also has other variations: if it's made with sake, it's called saquerinha. It can be made together with other fruits besides lime, the most common being strawberry, passion fruit and kiwi fruit.

Bro that was close to perfection explanation, everything you said was both respectful and informational for a brazilian (thats a very personal drink where everyone has it own recipe/measure).
There are more than just lime caipirinha, you can basically make caipirinha with any fruit, the most popular ones are lychee, strawberry, passionfruit and kiwi.
Fun fact: caipirinha used to be a medicine, it was made with garlic instead of ice.

For everyone else who's curious to make it: in a 200ml cup, crush the lime with a tablespoon of sugar, fill with crushed ice and complete with cachaça. If you want to have more control over the alcohol dosage, put just a shot of cachaça

If you have access to a cachaca called nega fulo terracotta, worth trying (search it is tricky because it's a name of a poem too). I like it neat, but goes well in caipirinha too (don't use the matured version though). Cheers

He almost got the pronunciation of "especial" correct, except a bit off at the end, but I'd be more worried about his pronunciation of "luxo", because the way it's spelled is not how it sounds, its pronounced like "loo-shoo" where the x sounds like an sh.

As a Brazilian seeing this was so special...I have something to say though... We don't necessarily make it in the same cup we serve it... But it sure does help (less dishes to wash)... But we sometimes shake it, it gets a nice greenish white color and when we need to make big amounts at once we use a blender... Your pronunciation was the best I've ever seen from a gringo...
