I've just got mine Convoy S2+ Copper a week ago in the plain design (not at all knurling). I really like it, not the strongest version but also not the hottest one. (XML2 T6-3B about 5500K, 6x7135 driver, Biscotti firmware, OP reflector). Good EDC flashlight although rather a fancy light than practical as it's a bit on the heavy side. It also has a copper pill inside.

Yea its a bit heavy for a EDC light. The protective coating will wear off and it will tarnish.

@@everydaysurvivalgear Oh super. I was thinking about what to use to remove the varnishing? Maybe the nail polish remover could be fine, it would remove consistently the varnish I think. I hesitated between the checkered and plain one but the plain one could be pimped with etching (acid bath maybe?) with some "steampunk style motifs" later on.

Terrific coverage of this torch - what lube do you recommend? Thanks mate

Hey mate I'd go with silicone lube as it won't ruin the o-rings. I tried not to apply to much as it could tarnish the light.

Is it true that the copper version will handles less heat than the aluminium versions?

Hey mate it's the other way around, Copper Vs aluminium gram for gram copper is better at cooling. Plus this light weights 3 times as much as the aluminium version so it should in theory be over 3 times better at cooling.

Copper has way much better heat coducter than almost any other metal (not counting silver and gold, noone makes flashlights about these two). Titanium is on the other side, it is a terrible metal about conducting heat. But whatever matterial is used the cooling surface is all the same on every S2 series lights. So transfering the heat to the environment is an other question. Maybe wouldn't make as much difference like it would make on a flashlight like the Convoy M1 with nice big heatsinks on the head.

Will that head thread onto an aluminum s2+ body?

Hey mate the threads are thicker on the copper as the metal is softer. It will fit and tighten like one loop so i wouldn't recommend it. Plus the copper may be eaten away by the Aluminium body.
I guess no is the simple answer.
