David Gedge of the Wedding Present and later on Cinerama interviews John Peel for a BBC Radio 5 programme called Chain Reaction, which was broadcast on 14th December 1992.
Brilliant interview. I met David Gedge & the Wedding Present. They showed the way that ordinary guys can make great music. I actually live in a place called Peel Cottage. Respect where it is due.
This is amazing ... I was just discovering the wedding present right around the time this was recorded, and it was when I heard John Peel playing their version of "Falling" on his World Service show that solidified them as my favourite band of all time. The one time I got to interview Gedge, when he was in Milwaukee with Cinerama, I regret not asking him about John Peel.
neither, it was on radio station WMSE-91.7 FM. I had a weekly show from 1985-2000 and still sit in now and then when asked. It was during a pledge drive, which is another thing I regret as I couldn't focus as much as I would have liked to on the guest, who was and still is my favourite front man. It was also the day after the disputed 2000 presidential election so we didn't have as many listeners, judging from the amount raised. I did bid on the guitar he played. I'd say more but I'm out of char

What a great interview. Thanks for sharing this.
That bit - right at the end there - was prescient. John delivering his own epitaph ...
I miss John Peel, he was awesome, RIP dude 👏🍻
