Here are a couple of links to panels: These are 8X8 panels which you will need to prime first. amzn.to/2xUDOkw This next link are these cool little 4X4 boards that are good for practicing this process. amzn.to/2yCq90e
Danny Clark how do you solve for the edges where the canvas texture is visible.. the canvas sags a little in the middle making the paint slide from edges and not covering them well enough
This is the best tutorial on acrylic pouring that I have found. Clear instructions without all of the extra talking and nonsense that makes things so confusing. Beautiful results, too! Thank you!
THE BEST tutorial for acrylic pouring on UA-cam. Thank you so much for this. Wish I had watched it sooner. My head was full of different ratio's of this and that resulting in much wasted paint and many re used canvasses. I'll try this ratio on Tuesday. I didn't realise the silicone doesn't need Stiring, everyone else stirs there's and my cells were so tiny. A big thank you from Oz.
Honestly, I've watched MANY videos on paint pour ratios, tips, tricks, etc. but have NEVER been so enlightened on the process as I am by this one. Thank you for all the details and for breaking it all down for beginners like me. Now I have the courage to continue!!!!
First of all I'm a very technical person. "Do this" .... doesn't always work with me because my mind ALWAYS asks WHY? If I get the why answered, it makes the how so much easier to commit to. THANK YOU, thank you, thank you, for the whys. I get it, it makes sense, I can commit to the process because my mind accepted the instruction without asking more questions. Art can be difficult for a WHY person. I just love your instruction here. I'm going to look up your other videos and binge watch. I actually take notes. You Rock.
I have not seen a video of this nature on YT except here. This indepth explanation is SO necessary to do a good acrylic pour. Thank you for the invaluable information.
After watching dozens of acrylic pouring videos and looking at dozens of websites, this was BY FAR, the most helpful lesson. I finaly completed my first successful piece. The scale was one of the secrets to my final success. As was the pointers about silicone. Thanks a million!
Thank you for actually explaining the reasons behind your techniques rather than just mentioning what's on screen like most other tutorials. Very helpful
THANK YOU FOR THIS. I was always confused on why my cells were so small while using proper measurements, and all along it was because I was furiously stirring in the silicone. I can’t believe I never realized something so simple (even though I’m a beginner at pour painting). Very helpful, can’t wait to try this out!
I just typed in DANNY CLARK ART VIDEOS and got a whole page of your videos which I can't wait to go thru for more information. You are a gem to us beginners. Thanks again
Good Afternoon Danny. You are just the little painting scientist. Very much appreciate your info about Floetrol. I have always been concerning about putting "additives" in my flow painting. I usually only add water, alcohol, and a little 100% pure food grade silicone oil. I now feel comfortable about using floetrol. Thank you for sharing this info. Needless to say i very much like this creation. Keep them coming. Maybe you could video your process of creating a large piece. Enjoy time with your family. Blessings.
Thank you so much for all of this great info. I love how you cover the science behind the art. Your work is beautiful and the pours that your kids did in a previous video was just amazing! Kudos to you for spending some good quality time with them. Can't wait to see what you do next. 👏👍☺
Thank goodness! You are an educator as opposed to others doing this who fail to explain anything significant about chemicals interactions of them formulas and how to do this type of painting but rather have a captured audience and skim over how to! Thank you for this informative tutorial!
Thank you so much for this video! I'm just getting into painting and your tutorial is by far the BEST instructional video I've seen. You explain your steps and say what to do or what not to do. Outstanding video!!!!😃👍👏
You are a very good teacher, you don't over talk, or under talk, and you have an easy still of explaining your process. Thanks so much your videos are extremely helpful. Blessings
I've been watching so many dang videos....lol I will have to say you explained so much more. I have wondered about Floetrol and you explained it. I have only done 2 pours. Loved the second using just water to think and alcohol. Started out gorgeous, but when it started drying, spots looked like the paint vanished and just showed tinted canvas. I will learn eventually, but what a bummer :( I love your videos because you explain as you go. I love that!!!
Thank you kindly for educating me, I new, I've watched hours upon hours watching pouring videos and I must say you have done an excellent job of describing the process. I really appreciate you going over the "why's" in your video. I will watch this video many times especially when I get the nerve to use a canvas! Many thanks! I have subscribed!! 😊
The best video on UA-cam on this subject! This has been the only recipe that has worked for me. Thanks so much! I can't wait to try alcohol instead of silicone, I started collecting the fluid acrylic paints. I'm so glad I found your videos! I love doing these paintings, I never thought there was any kind of art I could be good at. Great stress reliever for a busy nurse. Well, besides Florida trips, lol. You've made this available for everyone which is so kind of you! Your time and effort is greatly appreciated! 🙂❤️
I've watched dozens of videos looking for a clear, precise recipe for acrylic pouring, and yours is the best one by far. Not only do you explain the recipe, but explain how things work. great job.
Danny thank you sooo much for being as thorough with your description and process. I don't know why other artist feel it's a secret. It's been done years ago. Nothing is new under the sun as it is said. The way you explain the scientific meaning is brilliant and simple for me to understand. I'm your subscriber now. You have freed my brain from the unnecessary. I've done mine years ago, just with the paints alone. They came out bright and shiny, and still looking good. They are under a glass frame. I'm grateful for your knowledge once again. Thanks Thank you
Thanks for watching. I think its natural for some people to feel guarded about their technique especially when they are trying to establish themselves. Heck sometimes people ask how I did something and I honestly just don't remember. I put these videos out because I know how it feels when I finally get an answer to my question and it really launches a lot of creativity. I appreciate your comment! Good luck with your future creativity!
Love your pours and thanks for the videos it takes a lot of work to put them together :) if you spray the canvas(and sides) with water before pouring it reduces the surface tension in the paint and the pour glides over the sides better.
The science is important ,my daughter is allergic to latex and no one has told me that so I will use an alternative,,I've only done two pours and they were with what I had available ,which was PVA and argan oil ,it was a worthy experiment and looking forward to lots more ...my family think I have an obsession with pouring videos...I don't I just want to learn what works and what doesn't for others.and you cover so much that others just don't ,so I thankyou for that.
I know this video came out last year but I am just now discovering this paint technique. I have looked at 1000 videos but yours is the ONLY one that truly breaks down the beginner steps so I can understand the beginning process! Thank you thank you thank you Danny🙏🏻 Your work is spectacular!
Thanks for the research on how the Floetrol reacts with the paint. I didn't realize that the silicone had to be cleaned off when it dried. Have a great weekend.
Danny, great videos! I want to use a few ceramic tiles, that I painted, on my new kitchen floor. I hope they will be somewhat scratch resistant and waterproof. Use varnish, resin, or something else to seal them? Thanks in advance!
This guy is simply the greatest!!! He actually pulled out a scale and measured the floetrol paint etc....l learned math and how to paint in one video....YOU ROCK DANNY CLARK!!
That was fantastic, wish I had stumbled across you sooner, I think I have purchased the wrong Floetrol, I didn't realise there are different kinds. That was a marvellous video, thank you.
Thank you so much for the scientific approach. NOW I know how to get started. The recipes, the measurements, all is very helpful. I will be watching more of your videos. Thanks!
I am new to pouring after several decades of painting with acrylics. This video is incredibly helpful, I learned so much and am ready to get started. Thank you!
I recently started getting interested in doing this type of painting. Out of the dozens of videos I watched your video was absolutely the most helpful. Thank you so much for giving so much detail of how things work together it has helped me understand the reasoning behind using the different materials.

Even just understanding why mixing the paint with the various pouring media vs "manipulating" it with thinning agents is very enlightening. You've got another sub.
Hi Danny, love your work, have been doing this kind of painting with varying success after seeing Annemarie Ridderhoff's videos. She referred to you and your instructions are so clear regarding the recipe!!! There is only one major problem for me - I live in the UK and finding floetrol for latex seems to be impossible, can get floetrol but only in large amounts, 2 + litres at a time and at vast expense. Found some places on line in the States but they don't send to UK. I was hoping you might know/have had someone with more info on where we Brits can get it. Thanks in hope - meanwhile keep up the good work. Jean (Smith) PS, particularly loved the orange /yellow mix you did, and they aren't my colours - very inspirational!
+jean smith Thank you for the kind words. I am not sure where you can get floetrol in the U.K. But there is a online UK paint distributor that has floetrol here: www.paint-direct.co.uk/en-GB/searchresults.aspx?catid=1900&Retail=true I would recommend speaking to someone at a paint store in your area first though.
What a FANTASTIC and Incredibly Informative video, Woohoo!!! So much great information shared in a relatively short video. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for doing this and posting it. I was giggling when you said you liked it and hoped viewers did too because I had just said I LOVED it, it's beautiful. The colors you used and saving the teal for last was perfect, great call. It's just BEAUTIFUL and each color has its own mark while melding together, The cells are amazing! . I'm completely inspired and I appreciate the recipe with other great tips. THANK YOU!!!
awesome video Danny! I've watched so many tutorials on youtube over the last month and yours is the best. You explain EVERYTHING in ways that are easy to understand. Also yours is the very first I read in the description you wrote 'Wearing protective clothing such as a respirator, goggles and gloves is highly recommended.' I wish I knew this weeks ago as I was trying this in my bathroom using all the same products as you showed here and I felt like I was going to pass out, dizzy spells and swelling of throat....now I use a respirator. I think this is incredibly important to list as you did as a lot of people could be chemically sensitive and not know it.
I agree wholeheartedly with Lea Rene’s comments. Now looking forward to trying your method . This is all new to me as I am a card maker but totally hooked on this craft, thank you so much for your in depth tuition. Scotland
DUDE!!!!! this has helped me understand this way better than anyone else has been able to explain since you provided and broke down the mixing process and how it all goes together. THANKS MAN.
Thank you so much....just started with painting for something to do with my great niece...done a few that haven't turned out so well...lol...I will try it your way...wish me luck...LOL...
Hello Danny I love how your piece turned out, really beautiful. I was wondering if I could use this technique using tiles instead of panels or canvas, and how to apply resin after the paint has dried. Thank you for your videos and keep them coming !!
Hi Heber. I am pouring on 12 inch by 12 inch tiles to use on my kitchen floor. What are you using your tiles for? And, do you think the resin will seal the tiles enough so that I can walk on them and not worry about too much scratching, or I can mop them and not worry about the paint coming off the tiles. Thanks in advance, Heber! :)
Hello Will? I will be pouring on either 6 x 6 or 4 x 4 tiles, but with the intention of pouring acrylic paint and then resin to finish it up and seal the art underneath. I believe you are doing it to cover your floor. I believe the resin I will use is more for art, not worrying about stepping on it, more like hanging them on the wall when finished. I believe that for your application, you would need like a construction grade resin. On that matter I have zero knowledge, I guess you can always google something like "resin for finishing tiled floor" or something along those lines....sorry I could not be of more help... :( PS; I think there is a video here in UA-cam of a guy doing a kitchen project in which he lays out pennies on the floor and then pours resin on top to seal and finish the floor, search for it, maybe the guy mention which type of resin he is using and that just might help you to figure it out :) !!
Would the canvas not stain, as you call it, which those areas are the paint soaking into the canvas, if you gesso the canvas first? Thanks for this video, I understand the recipe better with how you explained it. My scale will be priceless for this. Once again, THANK YOU!
You are great, thank you. I have a background in science and could not start doing this this pour because I needed more information. Question- you used a flame (has others have), would dry heat work just as will?
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’ve watched so many different videos with so many different recipes and have not gotten the results I want! You are the first person who has made it all so clear!
@@jlcollins7673 Usually it's Art Resin, but really most epoxy resin clear coats will work. They're pricey but make for a really nice finished product, just be careful to make sure you get something designed for coating. I've had issues with clear coating with other resins not designed for that purpose.
I just want to say thank you! I have been watching these type of painting videos and have seen very few people talk about ingredients and proportions etc. and most aren't very informative anyways.. I just do these for fun and for artwork pieces in my apartment so thank you for being so informative and helpful! It is very appreciative!!!
I love your work and I appreciate this video so much. Not only do you explain what goes where but you also include WHY and that is great. I now know more than I knew yesterday. Thanks and have a great Holiday with your family.
You have really helped me. Surfing did not give measurements I could use. YOU DO -now I can move ahead. Loving your vids. Addicting for sure. YOu explain things so clearly.Love, love, love
Danny Clark... I saw a video that said because of the acid content of PVA glue, you might not want to use it for serious projects as it will eventually break down, crack, and fall apart. She recommended Mod Podge, which is archival quality. Maybe something to check out?
Yes it will crack and yellow over time. Anything I personally do that is to be archived I use GAC 800. These recipes are just for alternatives. A lot of people want to try out the technique but cannot afford or get hold of archival painting mediums.
Check out Elmer's website. It seems their glue is not pure PVA and only the Glue All Max is permanent (not water soluble when dried). So many companies make polymer mediums it seems pretty likely Reena could find one other than Liquitex where she is.
There is also acid neutral PVA glue that book restorers use. I know it dries clear like pouring medium but I have never tried it. If you lookup Archival PVA glue on amazon it should come up.
I spent hours yesterday trying to find someone that gave ratios/recipes to no avail til I typed in something different and your video popped up. Can't thank you enough. Keeping you on my Favourites list and I subscribed for future information. Keep up the good work and thank you very much
I'm a beginner at this acrylic pour painting. I got very confused when I went supply shopping so I didn't buy the right products. You are the best instructor that I have watched on youtube. I feel that I'm ready to get started. Thanks, Jeanne (milwaukee, wi.)
Thank you so much for your very valuable time Danny. Very helpful .Especially your instructions on how much silicone to use . Including the quantities per cup,and the effects the different amounts of silicone causes. Jeff .....(Stafford England).
Thank you so much for your video. I kept stirring my silicone and couldn't figure out why I was getting itty bitty cells. Now, I understand. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. We do appreciate it.
Contemplating doing some of this acrylic & resin. You really explained the technical aspects of using floetrol and silicone and how white behaves. Nice results! Thankyou for this video!
Thank you! I’ve been researching floetrol for acrylic pouring and I feel your ratio is the best by far! I will be trying your recipe and let you know how it goes. Thank you so much for this video. 😃😃
Brilliant! Thank you so much for the technical information. I've learned a lot watching and listening to this. I'm in a hard water area too, now I understand more about some of the problems I've been having.
Very Insightful!! Thanks for taking the time to explain in such detail. I am so interested in the science and nature of paint and pouring mediums and it sounds like you are too! I think all artists should understand and learn every aspect of their craft, and science is such a huge part of art.thankyou!!!
BEST DIRTY POUR VIDEO I HAVE SEEN!!!! Very informative and included all the information one needs to actually try this. Love that you narrative was clear and concise without a lot of nonsense. I enjoyed viewing this over any other that I have seen. Wonderful
Honestly the best video I have watched on pours :) So informative and detailed yet delivered black and white ( so far all the others I've watched long it out sooo much and waffle, mumble and digress so much it becomes fused with too many grey areas!!) Yours...Crystal clear! Also so lovely to hear you mention your kids ( I have no idea why but it made me smile!) Well done and Thank you so much for sharing your video.
Thank you for giving the "scientific" reasons for your recipe. Now the measuring finally makes sense!! After viewing at least 7 videos....not finding any rhyme or reason...I found your video! Whoopee! I am equipped to pour with confidence for a good outcome. Thank YOU!
I really enjoyed the science behind the creativity. I've done a few hours which have come out amazing but I didn't know about the effect of white as a heavier paint, which then goes more lacy. That's been my happy experience and I'm grateful to you for pointing out the why! I am going to use your recipe. Thanks very much x
Thanks very much, Danny. The oil-specific floetrol also has a great unintended use: it stops further oxidation and rust in steel. People use it to preserve a rusty patina and stop it from going further or to save stripped metal from rusting again. Dries clear.
Super cool!! Just did my first one and am VERY pleased with it!! TY Danny!! Wonderful explanation. I didn't the tube acrylic paint, but the Apple Barrel paint and it worked very well

Hello. How do I make the formula in cups. I would like to make a small bottle. Thank you.
Danny Clark thank you , very nice. If there is no cilicone , what else can be used to make cells, please .
You can use oil! Any oil.

How do you finish wood before pouring. . I have 4”x 4” squares that a carpenter made to finish doorways and windows . They are prerimed.

This is the most informative video I have seen (and I have seen many) absolutely beautiful. :o)
+Tunis Best Thank you for the kind words!
awesome video Danny!
Thanks for all your research and then sharing the results!
Glad to do it! Thanks for watching.
I agree wholeheartedly with Lea Rene’s comments. Now looking forward to trying your method . This is all new to me as I am a card maker but totally hooked on this craft, thank you so much for your in depth tuition. Scotland
Had to see what all the hub bub was about about. Now I see. You rock!!
+Rick Cheadle Thanks mang!
DUDE!!!!! this has helped me understand this way better than anyone else has been able to explain since you provided and broke down the mixing process and how it all goes together. THANKS MAN.
Thank you so much....just started with painting for something to do with my great niece...done a few that haven't turned out so well...lol...I will try it your way...wish me luck...LOL...
I love how you explain everything in detail and the end results are always beautiful. Thank you
Thank you. Have a great week-end.
What a great tutorial! I've watched numerous videos and have taken a dirty pour class, but your video make it so much simplier.
What do you use for resin ? Nice work, good info too thanks for sharing your knowledge 😃
That is the best explanation about mixing out of all the videos I've seen on UA-cam. Thank you!!!
Hello Danny
I love how your piece turned out, really beautiful. I was wondering if I could use this technique using tiles instead of panels or canvas, and how to apply resin after the paint has dried.
Thank you for your videos and keep them coming !!
+Heber Perez honestly I have no idea about pouring on a tile. Sorry I can't help. Thanks for watching and good luck!
PS; I think there is a video here in UA-cam of a guy doing a kitchen project in which he lays out pennies on the floor and then pours resin on top to seal and finish the floor, search for it, maybe the guy mention which type of resin he is using and that just might help you to figure it out :) !!
By far, if anyone is a beginner - this is a great informative video!
You mention you top coat with resin. Can you tell us what type of resin or perhaps a link? Thank you for this demo.
Ditto! What type of resin is used?
@@jlcollins7673 Usually it's Art Resin, but really most epoxy resin clear coats will work. They're pricey but make for a really nice finished product, just be careful to make sure you get something designed for coating. I've had issues with clear coating with other resins not designed for that purpose.

I just want to say thank you! I have been watching these type of painting videos and have seen very few people talk about ingredients and proportions etc. and most aren't very informative anyways.. I just do these for fun and for artwork pieces in my apartment so thank you for being so informative and helpful! It is very appreciative!!!
Thank you for the kind words. Hope the info is helping.
Dave what are your thoughts on using WD40 for the silicone component?
Right? Good question. I have some of that, but not silicone. 🤷♀️
@@vermontmom4232 you can use it. Most people spray it in a cup to get the drops (1 or 2)
One of the best explanatory videos on acrylic pouring I've watched ! .. regards from Great Britain 🌈
beautiful
I love your work and I appreciate this video so much. Not only do you explain what goes where but you also include WHY and that is great. I now know more than I knew yesterday. Thanks and have a great Holiday with your family.
Omg awesomeness!
Thanks for watching.
You have really helped me. Surfing did not give measurements I could use. YOU DO -now I can move ahead. Loving your vids. Addicting for sure. YOu explain things so clearly.Love, love, love
Thank you and thanks for watching!
What can we used in place of floetrol and pouring medium cos both are not available here!
You can use pva glue like elmer's glue. I have a recipe for that in my playlist.
The Best video on explaining Floetrol I have found, in addition to mixing instructions. Awesome, man!
I absolutely love how meticulous you were through this process. Props to you! Your paintings are stunning.
+Fatima Sumair thank you
I spent hours yesterday trying to find someone that gave ratios/recipes to no avail til I typed in something different and your video popped up.
Gratitude for all you do in sharing your talent and taking the time to explain how this process works so others can enjoy in creativity! You ROCK! ❤❤❤
+Pamela Gaskin Thank you for the kind words!
Dude, you are serious with this! lol Measuring your paint on a scale! You got this down to a science!
Thank you for some great explanations on reactions with the paints and medium, and the floetrol properties.
The painting was beautiful.
I've learn more from your videos than any other. You're an amazing teacher
Excellent, clear explanations of method and why everything works the way it does. Thank you
Thank you!
By FAR the best detailed video, easy to follow and informative, I've saved this as my instructional video
You are awesome! The first person on UA-cam I have found that TEACHES what and why! Very clear and helpful!
THE BEST. I’ve watched so many videos, but you’ve explained it clearest. Thank you! I really want to try pouring.
Super cool!! Just did my first one and am VERY pleased with it!! TY Danny!! Wonderful explanation. I didn't the tube acrylic paint, but the Apple Barrel paint and it worked very well
