I've owned a 2nd hand 2020 CB500X for about a year and a half now. It's my daily commute to work and I've also taken it on a 3,500 KM road trip and a ton of gravel roads. Have always been very pleased how in handles just about any situation. As far as the slipper clutch is concerned, I hardly ever use it and much more prefer to use the clutch handle for engine control. One of the great things about it, (as it's an adventure bike) , is the instrument mounting bar behind the wind screen. It's a perfect mount for either a Quad Lock or in my case, a Garmin ZumoXT2. My CB500X came fitted with Rally Raid lv2 suspension kit, which really helps to smooth out the big bumps and keep the rear wheel planted just right. So far I've ridden it 12,000Kms and hopefully with regular oil and filter changes it should be good for another 100,000Ks. I'm averaging about 4.1 liters per 100KM, (52 fill ups) but I do like to twist the throttle pretty hard sometimes. 😁

Excellent review of an all around really good bike. For the price, this one is hard to beat, I would think. I am thinking of either this or the CRF 300 Rally, as I am coming back to riding after decades away, and I'll probably go the Rally just because it is lighter and probably an easier bike on which to develop riding skills, but boy the 500x is sure tempting!

@@ridewithwarro Now that is insane! ALL THAT BIKE for only 2k more?!? Now I see why so many folks raised issue about the CT pricing down there. Its $3,100 dollars more here. Which still isn't too terribly bad considering what you get. Speaking of what you get, Honda-Claus let me down 🥺👎 no CT125 under my tree. So much for my dealership saying "Hopefully December". I even called another larger dealership in the next town and inquired and heck, they weren't even taking pre-orders and had zero clue of when they would be getting one. I'm disappointed but expected as much. Im just going to keep socking the money away so I will just pay it off in full upon arrival. Grateful I have my Monkey and XT250 to keep me company. Gained a sub, great review. So.... the vibes through the bars and pegs, I've heard other reviews saying its unbearable on long runs, is this something you have experienced?
11 hour trips in the seat during my 48000 kms since new 2019cb500x. Vibes?, yep plenty, good ones. Do these knocker's even ride? Not a problem for me, did mod to 16t front sprocket early in the piece tho. Do yourself a favour.
@@malcaithness9889 not sure what you mean by knickers. I ride a CBF1000 and considering buying a CB500X and commute around 80 miles a day all year around. Heavy vibrations through the bars and feet is annoying, I've had it on my old FZ1 and I have arthritis in my hands. It's a relevant question.
Hello Warro, good review. I'm seriously thinking of trading in my 650Versys for a new CB500X. I'm getting long in the tooth (70+) and i like the fact that the CB500X is relativley light (440 lbs) compared to my Versys and my previous Vstroms, makes it much easier to wheel around in the garage. From your video I think you mentioned you were 5' 9" and you were geeting some wind into your face. I'm just about 6 feet and it's a peeve of mind that almost any bike you buy needs to have a bigger after market windshield fitted. Thanks for the information, lovely day on Christmas eve, take care.
CB500X. It is 471cc parallel twin vs 373cc thumper. The price is very similar. I've seen both with under $7k on the road. Weights are also very similar. I was looking into maybe trading my 2017 cbx for it because it is lil taller and I thought little lighter but, cbx is so much more bike for the price. Not to mention bad ktm rep for quality and reliability.
@@oknevals your probably talking used at $7k -ive had 3 new and never bought any for under that figure. ktm's run well so it comes down to personal preference and what the buyer feels most at home with
@@ridewithwarro No. I put my brand new 2017 with 0 miles at the very end of year for $6800 on the road. That was in Texas. I've seen similar deals on 2019+ models but, closer around $7k. The best I've seen ktm 390 adv was for $6000+tax+fin fee. I didn't get exact quote but, that would round up to $6700 since that dealer lists destination and prep in sticker price. I've also seen some very good deals on v-strom 650, tracer 900 and few other. It is all matter of timing (rebates) and looking around. I've put 4 new bikes on the road for MSRP +/- $200 without trade in.
yeah no shortage of those 4x4 vehicles about here plus i was on one of the local roads to the goldfield country too. all the best for the festive season to you too.
@@OldCarsAreFun i've had 3 and only ride them at speed limit so thats 100 kph or 60 mph. bike runs to that speed and holds it very easy so i'd say it would cruise at 80 mph/130kph pretty easy too
@@OldCarsAreFun it's actually unexpectedly good! Can cruise all day around 120km/h and have seen a max speed of 175km/h on a flat straight with no head wind. Very frugal bike too, you can easily do 450-500km on a tank (just around 17lt)
Its not actually heavy as it is quite big (for a 470cc bike). It fits my 197cm (6'6") body quite OK with no extras. And is really well balanced. When it starts rolling, even with 5km/h, you feel like you're on a lighter bike. Its one of the bikes I can keep my feet on the pegs up to the last moment when stopped, and some times I just do a track stand without any foot down.
That flashing digital rolodex would drive me nuts! The bike might be technically advanced but too much plastic and lacks character. A CB500x doesn't need you, it has allegiance to no one. It looks down on mere mortals from an AI perch of superiority. I froze it at 11:55.. there appears to be eyes looking back at you .. that's rather unnerving. lol
actually sold it to one of the sub's on the channel. he has to date put up 16,000 klm on the bike trouble free. sold a few bikes to subs at good prices. always a bargain on this channel
Getting back I to riding after over 20 years, and this one has caught my eye, thank you for the great information.

hard call between the cb500x and the 390. i think in the end it would just be be a case of personal preference. both very good bikes to ride
@@ridewithwarro has the KTM been added to the ex Warro bike list..?
No mods needed on that machine. Very nice ride.
its a bit quick for the ct so i decided i will not be running it up the same road ...lol actually a pretty good bike to ride and its a pity the ct didnt come with an intrumetation like this one- you can read it under all light conditions and has that gear postion selector which i think is pretty cool.
you know in Australa that 500x is only $2000 more than the ct.......how did that happen!
People got it worse than that. Merry Xmas Warro. Hope you have a great one.
@@findingneutral now if you add my extras...they are both the same price...lol
@@ridewithwarro This is true 😄
Gained a sub, great review. So.... the vibes through the bars and pegs, I've heard other reviews saying its unbearable on long runs, is this something you have experienced?
my thoughts on the vibes are they are prettty mild and nothing to worry about and those guys have never been on a bad vibrating bike-
11 hour trips in the seat during my 48000 kms since new 2019cb500x.
It's a relevant question.
love your video, revieuw and bike. but most of all the area.
yeah its a pretty good place to ride.just bought a tracking drone so once i sort it out i should be able to catch it on the move
Thanks for the information, lovely day on Christmas eve, take care.
all good. i think you'd be happy with the new model cb500x. pretty good easy to ride bike
It is 15:15 here and the sun is just setting. It is 3c and tomorrow we might just see a high of 3c again. Oh, and its due to start raining.
not what one would call idea riding temp!
nice ride sir, ride safe.
thanks-glad to hear you appreciate the bike. all the best
Are there any model changes between 2020 and 2021 CB500X model?
maybe just new colours and that splash of red paint on the frame
@@ridewithwarro Thanks!
Which one would you pick. CB500X or KTM 390 ADV?
both great bikes so its more a coin toss
@@oknevals no probs -your talking usd not aud which equals the 10k here
I wish the monitor was 100-150% bigger
nice looking colour the new cb500x in white. i think it looks preetty cool
MERRY CHRISTMAS WARRO,!
thanks, very best wishes your way too
would the vibration you mention make you consider selling and stop you buying another? Anyone else have any views about it?
no way...lol this is just more of a slight buzz. no real worry for concern at all. i could name several i've had which are far worse but i won't!
@@ridewithwarro Thanks Warro
@@fhtrucker62 all good-its well worth buying
i would raise the camera a bit higher so viewers can see the road ahead but otherwise a nice viideo
yeah -that day i had a bit of issues with the camera angle and it sort of ruined the whole ride experience. all the best!
I get false neutrals if I don’t oil the chain.
interesting?
lot of 4x4 pickups where you live. it looks like it rides really well warro happy xmas by the way :) from wales uk
yeah no shortage of those 4x4 vehicles about here plus i was on one of the local roads to the goldfield country too. all the best for the festive season to you too.
This bike its buzzy? Merry Christmas
slightly
Nice my fried
prettyhappy with the white paint scheme. it blends in nice with the bike an i think give it a more classy type of stance
What is it that make this bike quite heavy?
when you sit on the bike its actually a fair size bike. saying that though i guess its all in the motor
@@ridewithwarro The CB500X might be my next bike. Is it any good on the highway?
This or a Suzuki 650 V-Strom?
never ridden a vstrom 650 or actually seen one up close
@@ridewithwarro They are big for a 650. I walked into a bike shop in Melbourne. I thought it was the thousand model. Much bigger in size than a 500X.
Hello Mate , you are driving on the wrong side of the street ! LOL Merry Xmas form US ... Enjoy
Happy holidays! can be a bit scary at times...even downunder ...lol all the best for the fextiveseason. ride safe!
@@ridewithwarro Like your work . Please stay safe and enjoy !
@@karltraveldude7817 thanks and many more clips to come. all the best
Very lame
That flashing digital rolodex would drive me nuts! The bike might be technically advanced but too much plastic and lacks character. A CB500x doesn't need you, it has allegiance to no one. It looks down on mere mortals from an AI perch of superiority. I froze it at 11:55.. there appears to be eyes looking back at you .. that's rather unnerving. lol
you get use to it after a while...lol
what happend to 2019 one you had did you miss it lol
actually sold it to one of the sub's on the channel. he has to date put up 16,000 klm on the bike trouble free.
sold a few bikes to subs at good prices. always a bargain on this channel

bit unlucky i guess - i missed that target by 450cc....lol
Worst camera position ever.
well i just looked at a clip of yours and all i can say is - i might have to buy you a tripod!
