Country music in general has been in a protracted aesthetic slump since the so-called New Traditionalist movement ran its course in the early 1990s. There have been occasional great tracks here and there since then, but nothing on that scale. However, After Hours might be just the good swift kick in the pants that the genre needs to get it back on course. Magnificent.
