I actually think Shane has this problem himself. In his recent series he's always putting himself down, calling himself poor etc with this massive house with pool in the background. I think it would be more real if they admitted to their wealth because we can obviously see that. Of course you'd also need to stay humble so it's a fine balance but people seem to like brash displays of wealth (like J*) more than saying you're still poor when you have millions of subs and the reality is right there in your videos.
I loved your essay. such an interesting choice of a topic! thank you for bringing our attention to this subject!
I'm here again rewatching your essay :) I'm still loving it. Thank you for sharing your insights.
This is such a great video, it deserves more attention. Keep up the good work!
It really does
It’s funny because I find you relatable! I love your analysis’. I agree with most everything you’ve said on the videos I have watched so far. And envy your hair styles :)
I love your content!
I agree. And I just found your channel (from your AHS videos) and I’m so glad I did! You are the breath of fresh air I needed today.
Xo 🧙♀️
Watch this Channel!
I guessed you were Milanese! Somehow. Your analysis are preternaturally adept. You speak EN. beautifully, which is not common in Italia. And Furthermore Paired with your erudite commentary, I find you a welcomed unicorn!
Cool perspective! I see relatability as necessary part of connecting with others especially by experience.
However glorifying negative thoughts about ourselves (jokes) do get old and cycle habits. I don’t like to think people use it to take advantage but celebrities and media do it, as you pointed out.
- my boyfriend and I love your videos btw!
(From the perspective of a social worker )In my helping relationship class it can be good to relate to the client and let’s them know you’ve been in their shoes, giving you credibility to earn trust. But yes in this age being relatable is falling into a self conscious pit!
This is fantastic, also love your accent!
Completely off topic but can you do a breakdown of Mr.Robot? I love hearing how you dissect things!
Yes, I love Mr. Robot! Anything specific within the series you’d like to hear about? Thank you for your feedback!
@@Seriesable I'm about to start season 3 soon but I'd love a breakdown on the first two seasons if possible!
Relatability is important, and it’s not destroying empathy. It’s just bringing emphasis to how different groups of people can be represented by works of art. I am tired of empathizing with 20 year old white boys. Different, more broadly relatable stories need to be told.
I think what you are referring to has more to do with a problem of representation, rather than relatability. Representation of stories of non-white, non-male, non-cis people are indeed important and still a minority compared to the cultural norm of what you call '20 year old white boys', and I agree. But I don't believe that someone that just looks like you or just sounds like you is necessarily 'relatable' to you. They are two different things, in my opinion.
I am tired of having relateable of teenage white girls who are pretending to be poor.
I’m tired of relatability. It’s incredibly self absorbed.
Now relatability is more of like story teller and audience patting each others back
