I like the textures and vegetation but I prefer the original's fantasy colors, even if they're not realistic.

I was thinking the same thing until it showed the guards side by side. The towns looked better too. But the world itself... I prefer the vibrant fantasy
Especially in Toussaint, that sweet over-saturated feel is a part of the game.
The new colours are actually unrealistic, the level of saturation is about the same but they have kind of overcorrected. All they needed was a de-saturation filter of some kind if they wanted more realism.
I prefer the mod, Vanilla is too saturated

I like the texture improvements but not the colour palette change.
yeah bums me out when all these mods think changing the colour tempariture to look neutral is an imporvement when 9 times out of 10 its an intentional artistic decision
@@RhysClark97 Vanilla is way too colorfoul and oversaturated, especially in Velen imo. It's all subjective, I guess. But I agree, normally all the ENBs, Reshades and SweetFx presets for any game just ramp up the contrast and oversaturate the whole thing.

thats because candyland fucked up with the lighting. that is not how immersive lighting and resoance are supposed to look (apart from toussaint) they are obviously running a 2nd lighting related mod that breaks the whole look

The darker color palette makes it look realistic. However, I am not a fan of how this changed Toussaint. The colors were a major part of that world....

@@astroreflux I live in southern France near the Italian border, the region which inspired Toussaint (called "La Provence") and in the campaign, in the fields, between 12am and 4pm it's like in the unmodded Toussaint. When you're under the sun it feels like there is a filter in your eyes, irl.
The modded version of Toussaint is vomit worthy, darker, uglier, and yet less realistic.

@@astroreflux the real problem is that some people don't understand that "good" is subjective. I like a fairy-tale-ish atmosphere of Toussaint in the vanilla. This one is just out of place for me. It doesn't resonate with the place, with the music and with the plot. Again, for me.
So sad this channel died, I was hoping to see a PS5 , XBOX series X and PC comparison here :(

@@astroreflux A dark fantasy world has nothing to do with how colorful it is. I especially like the colorful vanilla game because it looks beautiful at first look and the world looks so innocent because of it, but if you look closer you can see (or hear ;) ) the true darkness of this world with all the cruel details that the game shows.

@@astroreflux You're right somewhere, of course, but in my opinion you don't even notice it when you play it and it also somehow shows the atmosphere of Toussaint extremely well. When something terrible happens or night falls, you are all the more surprised at what is hidden behind the beautiful facade.
This video successfully proved that Witcher 3 doesn't even need HD rework. Great video.

After reading the comments I assume that I'm in minority here but I really like the more realistic colours.
The world of Witcher is grim, dark and unfair so the darker realistic portray of it it's just right by me.
Finally someone with their own opinion! It isn't too bad yes the game introduced good looking vibrant colors for it and all but it's still a dark fantasy story and this mod fits the description better with books and previous games and series!

I'd argue. Only few textures looks better in the mod, like guards armom. Some of them, like paving stones looks really ugly in the mod. Most of textures are pretty much the same
@@mon4eg it's meant to be ugly. We're talking about medieval cities after all. You'd be surprised how you can see the difference between roman,medieval and modern roads in Italy. Plus, all the texture recieved a smooth upgrade, you can see it at 0:55

The original graphics are definitely brighter, the mod seems to give a more a gloomy cooler toned cast to the game and I'm not too sure if I'm a fan of that. The turquoise water and sky blue sky captured my heart in this game not ready to give it up : / I know its not for everyone.

The mod has a blue hue in your videos. It kills the original color palette and mood. :( Also, I think the shadows look too dark. Almost no detail left.
The HD rework is great, you can dl only this one, they use ligthning modifications in this video.

GameFormative i saw other channel with the same problem. The owner had to demonstrate that all the stuff he used to make the comparissons were made by himself / that he owns the games he was showing, etc.
I think if you make this kind of video you have to add more stuff like comments/ opinions about the things you are compairing => “Add some value”.

The HD Models and Textures mod by HalkHolgan is a must have. The "Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project" @ Nexus for any PC users. Hundreds of thousands of downloads and V12 coming soon.
This video, however, has messed up the lighting to the point where it's terrible. Go for Halk's mod. The lighting, not for me. Sorry.

@@MP5Kakay to be fair, this video fails to show off the best parts of the mod. Most of the shots were showing entire scenes where the improvement of the textures don't really stand out.

The original color palette is much better. The mod has all the colors are kind of gloomy, although it improves the graphics
The tessalation grad is higher and it got more blurring. So the contrast also are less colourful. That's my opinion.

why is the grass less lush than before 1:16 ,something does not work correctly. but good comparisons :)
Because they messed up the shading of the grass, to make the grass look good you need to use uniform lighting from above otherwise you get the harsh shadows at weird angles. The grass in the mod no longer blends together nicely because the lighting is too contrasted.

its been a year since I replayed this game (8 replays so far lol)
and I already get a sense of nostalgia from the music. Waitin on my 2070S to arrive on friday so I can crank the GFX right up with mods like this,

The lighting rework doesn't work in the Blood and Wine DLC. That area of the game has a specific widgit in how it does its lighting that the base mod isn't designed around. I'd recommend disabling it before going to that region in the game world, because the lighting and colors of Toussaint is one of the best parts about it. Really gives it its own unique tone and flavor from the base game, and it's not worth it to miss out on.
Finally upgraded my pc now can finally watch these videos without being jealous
This may be the only game where I actually prefer Vanilla over modded graphics.

Nice textures, but it looks like the contrast is cranked up and global illumination was lowered / more bluish to get an more depressing look ...

I don't know why but the person who is doing the mod is somehow COLORBLIND or whatever like the colors in vanilla are more pleasant for the EYE

Toussaint recolororing is 1000000000000000000000 x better than original!!! I just cant watch those unrealistic fluorescent colors in original Toussaint!!! Best mod ever for Witcher 3! :D

Higher res textures are nice, but I dislike it being more sepia, dimmer and lacking saturation compared to the original color scheme.
textures, LOD, DoF and TESSELATION??? look dope.
But shadow areas are too dark while sunny areas are overbrighted. Don't like such lighting.

The color grading looks awful and the textures look out of place. This is ugly.

As is always the case with these mods, I prefer the original. Except maybe the shadows on some of the vegetation are better in the mod and their LOD billboards are better.
Toussaint looks weird. Like it's cloudy weather, even thos it's supposed to be sunny
