I guess im randomly asking but does anyone know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the password. I would love any help you can offer me.
Foreal man , he’s so generous and real with us . Kerry’s gotta be in some hall of fame or some appreciation for what he does. Kerry man we appreciate you !
This guy is the best teacher period. Simple and it’ll get you gigs. Learn chords and play the music and you’ll get on anybody stage. No other guitarist is teaching what he’s teaching.
Nice lesson Maestro. This should open doors for a lot of folks. These are what I call Holly Grail chords. Add a few straight minors, 7's, 9's, and 13ths and you can seriously play THOUSANDS of popular songs in several genres. I know eith out a doubt that I can play dozens of Oldskool jams just using the shapes you are teaching in this video. Everything from Luther, EWF, BarKays, ConFunkShun, Brick, Isley Brothers, Prince, Commodores and many others. Same holds true for today. They just call it Neo Soul now...but it's all just OldSkoolFunk and R&B to me...👊🏾
@@michaelgottlieb9083 Cut my teeth learning Al McKay rythms growing up. Shining Star, Sun Goddess, September, That's the way of the world. The Emotions Flowers and E Street Band stuff. I can handle all of that...but right handed only...😉
Bruh, that was a GREAT TUTORIAL! I’m beginner/novice in learning to play R & B music and this just opened up my soul and brain to a whole new world! You explained that so simply and that made it very encouraging for a self taught guitarist like me. Believe it or not but i’ve been a metalhead for most of my life and probably still am but somehow gravitated to funk/soul/r & b in the last couple of years and even wrote my first few complete songs this year (feels damn good). Thanks for sharing and i’ll be watching! One love from Singapore
Thanks Kerry - I have known these chord shapes for years but it is your phrasing with the hammer on and pulls, arpeggiating and sliding between the chords that make you 2 smooth...You are a great teacher and player.
My favorite chords are Major & minor 7ths with a couple of Major 9th chords from time to time. I play more of a fusion funk/ Latin fusion, so that's why I like those chords. I think you're one of THEE BEST teachers out there, God Bless you for that!!! Stay safe my friend, Rock(R&B) On & God Bless!!!
2 months with an acoustic started lessons learning the fretboard by discovery and ear. Just reps, reps, rep. 53 yes old with a alto tenor voice. Gotta make it happen.
In fact, I came to the video not knowing much. I was familiar with the chord shapes that you demonstrated. putting them together in a meaningful progression was where I hit a wall. And using arpeggiation? How subtle is that? So your video helped me with both of those things. Thank you Kerry
Your passion for teaching is appreciated. I've already subscribed. Reminds me of Donell Jones type-of-stuff. I am a huge-fan of smooth R&B Slow-Jams. oNe LovE from NYC
Love what you do. It seems like your way of arpeggiating and phrasing owes a lot to Hendrix, even though harmonically the R&B music isn't frequently using the same progressions he used.
Kerry's videos have been immensely helpful through my guitar journey so far. I'm translating everything to acoustic though so I may be breaking a few rules and cutting a few corners here and there. @K2S.... We appreciate every nugget dropped!
Hi Kerry, can you do a guitar comparison? For instance, take one song and play it on several different types of guitars so we can hear how it sounds on different guitar platforms... Example Les Paul strat hollow body solid body that kind of thing
Thanks for watching! Feel free to post any comments or questions below.
Hey Kerry! Hope all is well.
Is there a list of recommended songs to listen to for vocabulary?
Hey Kerry! Which Bigsby is that on your Les Paul?

Do you have a tutorial on how to play your intro song? (The song in the start of this video)
I did not expect you to have grown kids bro!
