Ok, this is gonna be long one:
Ok my perspective on the album. Something that really stood out to me was in an interview, Tyler talked about how this album doesn't have solution or the answers to the problems because he doesn't, but (I cant remember his exact words) he realised that it's all about people, those close to him are what's important and his strength is in them. I think this really reflects in the album, some might say that songs like My Blood (his brothers), Smithereens (his wife), Legend (his grandfather) are of topic or a side track from the main narrative, but actually those songs are the most important and I think it's no coincidence that those songs are the most up beat. This theme even comes back in other songs such as his "pride" and references to his fans throughout the album. One of the last lines of the album is "in Trench I'm not alone" and I feel that's very fitting. I can really see this as something he thought about singing at the concerts "these faces facing me" the fans whi are there with him and know what he means. So even though this album is a cycle of him constantly falling back into his problems and the bishops recapturing him over and over, no matter what he still has those fans, friends and family right there with him. The other Banditos will always come to get him.
Having the CD I particularly like how even the backing pictures seem to assist the narrative. Jumpsuit opens with him outside Dema thinking he's doing been doing well, but these pressures of start to come and he's got to try and deal with them, dust off his jumpsuit to protect him. Also the backing picture for that is from the music video in the "trench". Levitate he still seems to be outside of Dema still as he sights his strength and almost introduces himself to the listeners in a way. Now I think he is in Dema by Chlorine, because he speaks about it like he's there. I think the point where he gets recaptured is the end of Morph. Throughout that song he's fighting a mental battle and Nico is coming for him and for most of the song he seems to be doing quite well, but then in the last verse he says "lights they blink to me (like neon lights, those false solutions. Also blinking lights could be quite hypnotic) transmitting things to me, ones and zeroes (this binary lifeless code, like Nicolas Bourbaki the overly logical mathematician) ergo this symphony, anybody listening? (He's calling for help) ones and zeroes (gets nothing, being taken over), count to infinity(he tries to get past those 2 simple numbers), ones and zeroes (but it's no good). This parrels the music videos which are meant to be a different telling of the same story. This would be the point where Nico comes to take him, he tries to run, but it's no good he falls anyway and gets taken back to Dema. I think from this point it goes back and forth a bit. Morph- story/lore expanding fight. My Blood- support system. Chlorine- story/lore expanding fight. Smytharines- support system. Neon Gravestones- story/lore expanding fight. This keeps that support system constantly with him as he gies through these fights, even time he struggles he falls back on them. Nico and the Niners has always been the rebellion, planing the escape from Dema song to me which seems to be backed up by thd music video which depicts the same point on the story. "East is up" is almost like a rebellion code phrase which is why he's "fearless when I hear this on the low", on the low obviously being in secret and passed around. "Careless when I wear my rebel clothes", he risks the plan when he shows signs of his rebellion. "When bishops come together they will know that Dema don't control us" the event they plan to rebel on. And obviously there's more of that thoughout the song. I also think the song previous The Hype is almost preparation to have this rebellion, "my interior world needs to sanatize" he needs to take a step back and revaluate, before he moves forward. This is where the pictures come in the most important as they depict him getting further and further away from dema now that he's made out. Cut my Lip sees the in the tunnel like you do at the end of the Nico and the Niners video. Bandito sees the Banditos up on the cliff from a low angle, so further out. Pet Cheetah sees cliffs to the side, but mostly it's opened upand there's much more scape and clearing, he's even further out. Legend has Dema very small and in the distance, so he's been getting further and further trying to get away. But then in Leave the City we learn that he's tired and worn, he can't keep going out here, he can't survive out here. So he has to give in, he accepts that in time he'll try again, he'll leave the city, but for now he'll just focus on staying alive and that's enough. So like the last music video levitate he is take back even though he escaped and got further away, but it's ok, there are still people here that understand and want to help. He's not alone

I came across your video reaction to 21 Pilots watching other responses to the new album and I just loved your reaction to the latest album. I've just recently started listening to and watching their videos and so enjoy their artistry. I presume you are identical twins, appreciating how your energy is so complimentary. My wife and I had identical twins, but unfortunately they started to transfuse, resulting in one twin stillborn (Grace) and the survivor (Merry), severely handicapped with cerebral palsy. Merry passed away just prior to her 12th birthday in 2014. Their 16th birthday would have been the 5th of this month. I always notice twins and, obviously, think of how my daughters might have been, had they survived and been living normal, healthy lives. Just wanted to thank you for giving me a sense of what twin sisters could be like. As I mentioned before, you are adorable. Keep doing what you do. You're bright and beautiful souls. Namaste, Neil
wow I don't even know where to begin. well first off thank you so much for sharing something very close and personal to you. I can't even imagine how hard that must've been for you and still is. it really opened my eyes to how we as humans can take small everyday things for granted. I never really took much thought into being a twin and the risks that could of happened or not even being a twin at all. I guess when people have always found it amusing I've just thought of it as regular and like another sister and not giving much thought into the possibilities. Im sure your daughters were strong loving girls and wish nothing but happiness for you and your wife. comments like these make me realize no matter how small or big you are, you can have a great impact on people. thank you so much again for sharing and I hope youre doing okay.
