I rewatch your videos so often. The more experience I get with teching and the more I learn, the more I'm able to pick up little lessons from these videos. Quite awesome. Thanks for putting these out.
I felt the entire length of the video in the bottom of my heart. I've been fighting with a vfc 417 since march 20th and have done lots of things to it. And the worst part of the entire build it's been, with no doubt, that fucking "416 style" pistol grip. The lid on the bottom of the grip it's so fucking thick, that it pushes the motor and also de the wiring so deep inside the pistol grip, that you have no room to adjust it with the adjustment screw. You have to grind the hell out of it for the motor to fit properly inside the grip, and allowing the cables to rest nicely inside. So I recommend you try to grind the inside part of the bottom lid and try to fit the motor in the grip. Nice video, love watching these mate!
Hello negative. Absolutely brilliant videos mate. Thank you for your time putting these up for us all all to enjoy. Just a quick question if I may. What are your views on the double bell BY813s (dboys) hk 416 model in tan it’s available n Taiwan gun for around £180 and fancy one but wanted to know your thoughts. Look forward to your reply. Thank you mark
I've been fighting with a Classic Army G3. It came to me with a broken piston and I gutted a Classic Army Sportline 416 gearbox for it's piston. The sportline had shitty plastic bushing yet worked so I figured it was best to just part it out to fix the G3, plus the SL gearbox had issues with low fps, either worn spring or seal?. ANYWAY. I reassembled the G3 gearbox (A standard line with brass bushings out of a nice full metal SAR Officer.) It seemed to go back together fairly well. There were no shims to worry about getting back in place, and everything seemed to spin and move freely before closing the shell. When I put it back in the gun it would only turn over a little then jam up. I'd pull the motor and drop the antireverse to let it go back to fully decompressed and it would still do the same thing. Multiple batteries, fully charged. So I don't think it's a power issue. I've heard of this happening with guns left partially cocked but never with a fully decompressed one.
Had this same issue last week with a ggv2 series 2 and a pts grip . If the shimming was correct the motor would not work. Dam thing was at a hard angle and deep as hell . Changed grip everything 100% w.t.a.f
motor assembly: put an allen key through the allen hex bolt hole and push the motor down while sliding the cap on the grip. harder to say than doing it yes this rifle is a PITA.
>Why are people still buying VFC? If you price your product high, put out some expensive marketing for it, and doll it up with trades, you can give out the illusion you're buying into a high-end product to people who don't know any better. *Cough*Novritsch*Cough*
E&C are the go-to platform in my country. Reliable, cheap, good externals, universal internal and external parts, and a lot of variety you can choose from. Great video by the way bitter truth is always better than a sweet lie because in the end people are paying for these.
You can actually do the flat hop bucking mod and leave the guide in place but you have to make sure you shave the contact nub off perfectly/almost perfectly, i used my expensive craft knives and a magnifying glass and it works an absolute treat, also with an S hop patch.
From what I know CYMA is pretty great, I use an M4 that they produce (I’m not a m4 basic I promise!) and i use .30s and .28s and it works great! I use a SBR setup and runs accurately and cheap.
Had the same motor problem with mine. Only way I got it to work was using very low power battery so I could have the gear turn while pushing the end plate into position. Only stripped one gear while trying to get it to work!
Love the content, could you possibly make a video explaining how to put the right amount of grease inside a mech box and where the correct places are to apply it
theres plenty of youtube videos on that. its not a very complex thing. you can get really picky with the different types of oils and grease to use and where each type belongs, but you can just get some synthetic multipurpose ptfe grease and be just fine. Use silicone oil on o-rings/compression parts, though. its designed for air seal.
How are the ICS M4's now-a-days? Thinking about restarting airsoft, once the world isn't on fire, and was thinking ICS M4 Sportline (i don't like the idea of built in smart triggers or mosfets that can't easily be replaced by a non-tech), is the split gearbox easier to maintain? is the safe position spring decocker... a problem?, if the sportline has one, does the decocker interfere with a warfet in anyway?
they're not terrible, but not great. i think this guy would point you towards a G&G CM (aka combat machine) model unless you've got some experience working on a gearbox. In that case, go for a specna arms or e&c (same manufacturer). If you're willing to spend another $100, you'd be pleasantly surprised with a stock cyma platinum series, but also have a very simple upgrade path. New mosfet, motor, and hop rubber in one of those and you've got yourself one hell of a gun. MUCH better than a stock krytac or vfc avalon for the same price (after the aforementioned upgrades).
After finishing my vfc m27 (kh416 but longer) fitting motor is pain in the ass, fitting hop up same story and the fake bolt had to be removed cause when it got stuck i couldnt even disasamble the gun. But with m120 spring shooting cosistent 450 fps with 0.2 bb

Honestly i think the guy either got a lemon with that 416 or vfc has started to fuck up. I have owned a vfc 416 for 6 years now, ran flawlesly for a year straight being used every sunday (then i started upgrading it). I have never encountered those problems, ammitedly i could not replace the grip since every other grip just made a shit aoe (motor got replaced right away). Imho vfc externals are good just for the tight fit and quality of materials, finishes sucks, mine got scratched almost immediatly. (regarding the price thing, a big cut goes to umarex for those nice trade marks, so realistically that is a 350ish euro gun, just like marui's price is inflated by imports)
Maybe they started to fuck up with the whole mosfet wave, like g&g. A friend of mine has one pre-mosfet era and it shoots pretty accurately, it hasn't been opened yet tho
you could technically build a gun like that but it would still be needlessly expensive. idk if retailers sell vfc externals. G&P externals are also great, but you might have to do some custom work to make them fit nicely with whatever you throw in it.
The Specna M27 I use to own had an E&C gearbox and man was that thing a dream to work with. They deserve a lot more attention. I kinda regret not going with an E&C gearbox when rebuilding my current m4 (decided to build one from scratch with an ASG Ultimate shell - that thing was expensive, but at least I learned something... I think).

I have not encountered such issues with the grips whether 416 or standard, but always went forward and corrected alignment as this makes the whole system work better. The wires are tricky in the 416 grips, the self shimming blows, the old polycarbonate parts are weak and not that resistant to chemicals. The threads to the GB can strip easy if mistreated, the aluminum selector plate can bend out of shape, and other brand GB shells are tight fits in many VFC receivers.
