Media 1990: "Metal is dead"
Priest: "Hold my beer..."
Juliette is very smart and observant, congratulations dad!
This.
This song is the very definition of metal.
Sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know of a way to log back into an instagram account?
I somehow lost my login password. I would love any help you can offer me
@Lyric Ishaan Instablaster :)
The smile that came after she said she likes the song. That's how you know you're parenting the right way lol
Priest's answer to anyone doubting that they could keep up with the young thrash bands that had risen up in the late 80's. Classic!
Did they ever!
And as a thrash metal fan they outdid all of them and their albums couldn’t touch painkiller
This song always makes me think that 1990 really was the breakout year for three of the best metal drummers ever. That year Scott Travis (Judas Priest), Nick Menza (Megadeth) and Vinnie Paul (Pantera) all showed up and changed everything.
Lars still hasnt recovered.
Because Lars was kicking their asses in the 80’s lol
Travis showed up that year? He was playing for years in Racer X and everyone all ready knew about him.
@@stevej.1428 So was Vinnie Paul but like only fans knew about them. They hit mainstream in 1990. Hell half the comments here wouldnt know who Racer X even is in 2019.
Dont forget when motörhead added mikkeydee
@@deaconj3406 funny because 2019 is when I found them. Granted I’m young but still
This is the song that perfectly encapsulates heavy metal, perfection 🤘🤘
I love Judas Priest. To me, they are the image that comes up when someone says "heavy metal". Rob Halford is one of the best metal vocalists. Great reaction!
Iron Maiden as well bro . But yeah they're embodiment of metal
@@leethibidaux1641 I always tell people my favorite heavy metal band is iron maiden. But my favorite heavy metal song (or speed metal whatever u want to call it) is painkiller
@@genesis11am agreed. They set the tone for all other bands.
🎸 Iron Maiden!!! Awesoooome!! 🤘
Death - The Flesh And The Power It Holds
This, or Spirit Crusher
Or Scavenger of Human Sorrow
Yes yes yes yes
Any song of The Sound of Perseverance.
Alejandro Reyes worst death album in my opinion. The most accessible album is probably symbolic. We don’t want to scare them off, maybe suggest something off that album, or spiritual healing
Another incredible solo and example of Rob Halfords vocal range is Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver from the Sad Wings of Destiny album going right back.Look for the BBC Old Grey Whistke Test version which is excellent and the hair is priceless!
This is one of the best their songs but try one the old stufs:
Judas Priest - Victim Of Changes
This is a masterpiece!
Especially the one from the 'Unleashed in the East' Album.
xConundrumx ?
xConundrumx oh okay so it’s a live album. I was confused at first lol
@@xConundrumx or the sentinel from the same album!!
Check out the Chicago School of rock cover...its amazing.
One of the best metal songs of all time. Period.
i love playing this song drums. it’s literally the most fun song ever
"Ghost rider?"
"I didn't see that one"
"You didn't miss much"
What? "excruciating pain made worse by the sequel" doesn't count as much?
Saw/heard him sing this one in 2009 (Portugal): perfect voice, almost 60 years old!
Hi Juliet, yes it's a surprise to hear Rob Halford's normal voice near the end. Wonder how he can scream like this without ruining his vocal cords!
If PAINKILLER is your first exposure to Judas priest, well, that's like learning to swim by being thrown into the deep end of the pool... or more like the middle of the ocean, lol!
No messing around on this one! Full-on, melt-your-face metal from start to finish for 6 solid minutes. 51½ minutes, if you factor in the whole album (including B-side Living Bad Dreams).
Tbf, it was kind of like that even for some of us who had listened to them for more than a decade! XD
It was definitely a comeback from all the commercialized glam of Turbo and Ram It Down (which was okay, but not the same raw metal as Defenders Of The Faith or Screaming For Vengeance). As the Painkiller title track vocal styling demonstrates, you could say they came back "Screaming" with a "Vengeance", lol.
I saw someone ply a small section of the solo on TikTok and was like “Judas priest is a band I haven’t checked out” I only heard a few older hits and started with painkiller and boy was I hooked
Another, older, fave of us Priest fans at concerts is Beyond the Realms of Death
Live version of Victim of Changes too.
Best song I saw live was The Ripper back in 1980s but not sure if recorded.
And the riff in Bloodstone still gives me goosebumps.
First saw them live - my first concert in 1979. Hanley in UK. First time I ever heard my dad swear big - turned around to a 6' 6" guy (my dad's 5' 6") and told him to f' off for pushing when the queue surged. I thought we would die. The huge fella said "sorry, pushed from behind, everyone's wanting to get in there" - rock fans are, for the most part, the most polite at a venue
One of my best experiences was watching Judas Priest performing in Rock In Rio concert years ago. "Painkiller" literally shook the stadium foundations. And Rob Halford entered the stage riding a Harley Davidson costumized as the chopper in the album cover. :)
My god .. top 3 metal / thrash songs all time. This gem came out the blue in 1990 .. my ears are still ringing at 47 l💯❤️✌🏼🙏.. but this song 💯🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
The 90´s : Metal is dead
Judas Priest: Hold my beer...
This song is so heavy it has it's own gravitational field.
Judas Priest has always been a great band. They are not satanic. They are just great. First time I saw them was in 1982! My husband and I saw them many times through out our marriage . 13 times to be exact. But his favorite song was Painkiller. We played it at his funeral recently. Priest Rocks!
Painkiller is the reason to call Judas Priest....METAL.GODS!!!
Metal-hit metal-molten metal-Painkiller Pruest raised the bar ten levels up its genius from start to finish not only are the solos off the scale but how many people are on the drums even the late great Prifessor would have been proud of that from Scott Travis.
Do Victim of Changes! very different song, just as good
My son is 14 and I’m doing the same with him. You are raising her right.
It's also the first album made after the were sued in a wrongful death law suit. They spent months in court defending themselves after two young men commented suicide while listening to priest. Many longtime fans believe this was their response statement!
I love it at 4:36 when Juliette starts to think how tha F*ck are they doing that lol :). That is literally finding out that god exists....the metal god
Thanks for checking out this video! What do think about the idea of "School of 90s Rock"? Any suggestions for School of Metal?
Metallica - Fuel
sepultura - troops of doom
Eluveitie - Rebirth
Crowbar - Planets Collide
Deli Creeps - Time
Mr. Bungle - Travolta
Faith No More - Smaller and Smaller
Overkill - Who Tends the Fire?
Cyclone Temple - Words Are Just Words
Death - Empty Words
Extreme - Get The Funk Out
Therapy? - Going Nowhere
Nirvana - Lithium
Rainbow - Stargazer
Suicidal Tendencies - "Trip At The Brain" and / or "War Inside My Head"
what's interesting is that if you listen to painkillers , and then listen to some of their stuff from the 70's like'' dreamer deceiver '' it's such a stark contrast, judas priest is VERY prolific!
Man i wish i could hear this song for the first time again... 9 years old and it blew me out of the water instantly. I really hadn't heard anything like it. Love this band, now and forever.
The scream before the last solo... That shit still brings a chill through my whole body. Nearly 30 years later...
This song is extremely heavy for its time, if you can get down with this, then you are a Metalhead you can't deny it. Classic recommendation Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell, thrash recommendation Alison Hell by annihilator, death metal recommendation just-for-fun obituary chopped in half.
*Thumbs up* for Heaven and Hell awesome song/album I,,I_ (^,^) _I,,I
You have raised a very intelligent astute and open minded daughter you must be very proud of her and what a great thing to share together! Love your reactions!
These guys where like something out of mad max I swear 😁
Love your reactions. The way you interact with your son and daughter is great. Also how you analyze the lyrics, singers, and instrumentation. Always enjoy watching you guys. That said, please react to Devilskin - Never See the Light or Mountains. Also Mushroomhead - We are the Truth.
THE....ULTIMATE....DEFINITION....OF....HEAVY....METAL! .....turn the Volume to Level 11 !!!.....nothing below 100 Metal Tomatoes is acceptable !
Rob Halford the singer is gay is why they are glam, I used to see him play with a local band in Phoenix Arizona and go to after-hour parties at his house. That was in the 80s but you should listen to some 70s priest specifically victim of changes it's not as fast but it's pretty awesome. Look forward to watching your reaction.
For me.. this is a 100/100. This is a perfect song.
love the intro to this - great song - great review! yep, a 90's metal series gets my vote 👍 but then any metal series gets my vote 😂🤘👍 keep an coming...
You just got a new sub! Love this part definitely hilarious!!😂 10:14
VinceFreerun Paul Welcome!!
The ultimate metal song! Blow up your speakers with this!
I've loved this song for decades, but haven't the foggiest idea what the lyrics are about. Thanks for another great reaction vid!
The Priest are known for their mystical creature creations the Painkiller is just one of them as is the Sentinal, Jugulator, Night Crawler
@@onemangang5212 It's true! Another, more recent example is the Spectre.
Great reaction, greetings from Norway
Please react to Judas priest victim of changes. From the Sad Wngs of Destiny Album only. Rob halfords vocals are amazing. And it's great to hear their earlier sound before the became heaver on painkiller.
Juliette's reaction to Angus Young's (AC/DC Thunderstruck reaction video) weird prancing made me subscribe! That was funny! The first time I saw Angus Young's antics, I had THE same look on my face!!
Judas Priest was my first metal concert and they ended with painkillers such a killer show
still in my opinion the MOST metal song ever written.
Priest's first commercial release was actually in 1974. An album called Rocka Rolla. It wasn't very well received and it wasn't until their follow-up, 1976's Sad Wings of Destiny that they found their feet with what could be considered the metal sound. Black Sabbath's debut effort was released in early 1970 and was the true pioneer of the Heavy Metal sound.
Never seen anyone react to this song: silent scream - live version from Halford. That’s the singer of Judas Priest solo project band.
Another awesome song that was meant to introduce a new drummer through the intro is Where Eagles Dare from Iron Maiden. They didn't want people to worry that their favorite drummer Clive Burr could not be replaced. To some Nicko still doesn't match up to Clive but I'd say at this point he is an icon of metal music.
For heavy metal with great vocals, anything with Ronnie James Dio. 90s try him with Black Sabbath "I". 80s Dio "Last In Line", "Holy Diver", "Rainbow in the Dark", 70s Black Sabbath "Heaven and Hell", "Neon Knights", "Sign of the Southern Cross", or Rainbow "A Light in the Black", "Stargazer", "Kill the King." He is amazing live. Oh he had albums in the 2000s like Magica which is a concept album. RIP Dio.
Ooohhhhhh yeeeeeesssss, just woke up and this is the first notification I have on my phone 😱
Unfortunately I have to get ready for work but once I’m back I’ll watch it in it’s entirety
Love this channel, love you guys and love to the PRIEST! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Rock on!
Just finally finished it 😎
I’m glad you both enjoyed it!
Quick points:
I also didn’t understand Halford’s voice at first but I kind of acquired the taste, specially lately that I’ve been listening to a lot of Priest’s stuff.
They have at least 1 awesome album in every decade since the 70s up until now.
With Halford it’s kind of impossible to not like his voice because he’s like the god of vocal variations, even nowadays that he’s in his late 60’s he has managed to find yet another variation that keeps him sounding badass and metal AF.
Tipton has pretty amazing riffs (next songs of Priest could be breaking the law, dreamer deceiver & deceiver, beyond the realms of death...) and he incorporated a lot of different techniques over the years, the other guitarrist KK Downing followed up, but the main riffs were all coming from Glenn Tipton.
As for other recommendations for School of Metal:
Have you guys listened to Rush’ “2112”? A 20 min song... I’ve been listening to that one lately and WOW, also Passage to Bangkok is badass and under 5 min if you like something shorter , lol.
Great reaction, sorry for the long ass comment but had to be done 😁, hope you guys read it, been a fan and subscriber almost since the beginning 😎🤘🏻

You both may have heard Judas Priest more often than you realize. Their songs are in movies cartoons commercials and guitar hero. The singer Rob Halford often startled the audience by riding on stage on his motorcycle during the opening performance.

V7avalon Yeah, definitely know a few of those
Painkiller is the Chromium plated boiling metal centre of metal! I don't mind that the video isn't here. We all know it, I'm just glad that you saw it because the visuals are as hard as the music.
JP had loads of songs about a BEING (good or bad) that were a THING rather than a reference. The only song that people really "referenced" for them was Beyond the Realms of Death - and even though I became a christian 32 years after I first saw them perform it, I love it but don't know OR CARE
Ur daughter is a cool kid! Love watching u two!
Meet Judas Priest and their lead singer "The All Father of Metal" Rob Halford
Love this song!
I wonder how many metal fans would say that painkiller is the ultimate metal track!
The metal god Rob halford was born on this album. The first lest stuff was cool Thus was next level omfg greatness all around. The whole is shear badassery💯🤘
Great reaction! Here's some Judas Priest songs you may have heard...somewhere:
-"You've Got Another Thing Coming"
-"Breaking The Law"
-"Living After Midnight"
-"Heading Out To The Highway"
-"Hell Bent For Leather"
Songs you may not have heard but should check out:
-"Demonizer" (sort of a sequel to Painkiller)
-"Metal Meltdown"
-"Angel"
-"Freewheel Burning"
-"Ram It Down"
-"Worth Fighting For"
"You've Got Another Thing Coming" - Judas Priest classic
Juliette is very smart!!!
Painkiller, great song, great album. I saw JP on tour for this album, and it was excellent!
Awesome choice
This is a ace reaction love you guys rock on dudes 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
My first time hearing this song was when Rob Halford did it together with Su-Metal and the Kami Band from Babymetal (They did Breaking the Law too). Loved the colab but this song is so good in and of its own too daaaaamn love it
This is the song that plays when you look up "heavy metal" in an audio dictionary.
Yeah... that and Iron Maiden.
Best 3 bands for me are Judas Priest, Montley Crüe & ACDC, but hell I still can't leave out Iron Maiden!
@@robertomurri1278 Motley crue? Priest Sabbath Maiden & can list 10 other bands before crue. Disagree but respect opinion

That's the end of my suggestions, as anything after 1990, I am not familiar with (cos once Halford left the band I sorta "lost interest"). I may go back and pick up where I left off one day, though, see what I missed.
An often overlooked band from the 90's that still puts out music today would be Monster Magnet...among a few others....I honestly can't decide which album to start with or even which song on it....Shuffle works...

Girl Judas priest is pure molten METAL
two guitarists - two solos
and I loved Cage's Ghostrider ;P
Freewheel Burning is another great by JP. In my opinion, it was kind of Painkiller before Painkiller.
Judas Priest you've got another thing coming, a very motivating song lyrically "in this world we are living in, we have our share of sorrows, answer now is don't give in and aim for a new tomorrow"
The crazy thing about Rob Halford is that he can still hit those crazy high pitches at 67yrs old!!!
Theirs so many awesome Preist songs you can't pick a bad one.🤘✌💣💥
This is my all time favourite band screaming for vengance was my first album they started off hard blues in the early 70s this band evolved to today's power metal PLEASE can you do there song , the sentinel . Awesome reaction guys
Oh man, I remember when Painkiller came out. Blew me away. As far as 90's grunge/rock goes, I would recommend Soundgarden - Jesus Christ Pose
That song is basically metal to me 😂 i love Soundgarden!
One of the best metal songs of the decade. Also check out “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming” the live version from the ‘86 fuel for life tour will show you Priest in all their live glory Another great reaction
Iron Maiden- Aces High (Flight 666)
Listen to Sleeples Nights by King Diamon, great song with a "similar" vibe.
Great reaction to a true Metal track..
You should give some of the Priest new stuff a listen. Anything from Angel of Retribution, Redeemer of Soul or Firepower they are all amazing albums. Fill ya boots.
Nostradamus is a must but it's a sit back and listen to it in it's entirety it's a total masterpiece.
OMG you did it! Thank you!
Crack a smile youngster, you know you want to.
Motorhead! Ace of spades/Overkill live will be awesome
Another great reaction (Juliette is brilliant, as always). Anyway, I'd love to see a reaction to Queensryche--almost anything off the Operation Mindcrime album (though my pick would be for Suite Sister Mary). ... It sort of fits in with the Painkiller vibe, but a bit slicker.
That album needs to be listened to from start to finish
@@buhnerboy1974 I know, right? ... I've listened to so many metal albums over the decades, and that one still stands out to this day.
I think it was be awesome if you do a vid on something from their album 'Angel of Retribution' because that album was when singer Rob Halford rejoined the band. He left after Painkiller and rejoined the band 15 years later for 'Angel of Retribution' and the rest is history. I would recommend the song "Demonizer". It actually has one of their best solos in my opinion and a few other cool things that I don't want to spoil. There's also the song "Hellrider" because the second half of the song is legendary and it's already a great track to begin with. There are so many great tracks on that album but I feel like those two would be perfect as a follow up to Painkiller, especially "Demonizer".
Hi Chemical Fam...🤟 you need to listen The Sentinel from the Defenders Of Faith Album...Greetings from Germany 🤟😁
I just subscribed. I very much like you two.
I think they heard Glen playing that solo wile messing around and said ''Holy !?#%" we gota write a song around that.
You should listen to Accept - Fast as a shark! That's a killer song.. literary..
I prefer "Princess of the Dawn" - what do think about that one?
@@kingofkopponis1961 Thats a good song also.. but i like the shark.. it's a fun song to play on guitar...
