Hey there Mike, anytime you're dealing with electrical flooded systems try spraying everything with "Corrosion X" let sit a few minutes, wipe or dry air it off and re-spray and don't wipe off and plug it back in. You'll be amazed!
Check and/or change ALL oil & fluids. You may want to have extra headlights, headlight bulbs, brake light bulbs, & any other bulbs that may need to be replaced along the way.. Wouldn't hurt to have extra fuses. Better safe than sorry.
Hola saludos desde Colombia. Un fuerte abrazo. Les quiero contar que soy un apasionado de todo lo que ustedes hacen. Y solo puedo decir que con usted yo trabajaría hasta gratis 😊😊😊😊
I’m new to all of this so I’m wondering how were you able to legally drive the car off the lot? Like the insurance and tags? Any advice would be greatly appreciated
From what pros say is first naturally salt water versus fresh water only makes a slight difference but corrosion will happen and salt water is just faster but unless you clean every electrical connections they will eventually fail..and the cost of replacing ECU etc gets very pricey so the vehicle will run fine for awhile then shorts begin to happen weeks or months later...most mechanics I watch say most should just be used as parts because electrical nightmares are coming
Well that looks like a Virginia inspection sticker. Funny cause we actually have a copart in VA. In my days as a technician we totaled out countless cars due to flood damage. Those wiring harness and control modules get expensive fast. The labor is what totals them. It's a risk at best buying a flood car.
Most of the auction car I've bought were not drivable. I only did heavily collision damaged cars. Ones that got a new frame and nose clip or a frame and bed. I would buy two at a time so I got the parts to make one good one from two.
I'm in Georgia...are there any rules that keep you from driving a salvage title car back from the auction? Maybe it's just Georgia, but I thought you had to trailer it back until you have your rebuilt title approved.
In Michigan it is not legal to sell a flooded vehicle. Not sure how many states support this. The key takeaway is that you need to be vigilant when buying a used car, even if you don’t live near a traditional storm area. That’s because flood-damaged cars are often transported well beyond their original region after major storms to locations where consumers may be less aware of the warning signs to look for. Water can ruin electronics, lubricants, and mechanical systems. It may take months or years, but corrosion can find its way to the car’s vital electronics, including airbag controllers. Consumers need to carefully inspect any used car before buying one (or pay a mechanic to do it). Consumer Reports’ chief mechanic, John Ibbotson, says to avoid vehicles with signs of deep-water exposure “even if a vehicle looks acceptable and may be working when you inspect it.” That’s because the long-term effects of water damage can haunt buyers for the life of the car. Too often, when an insurance company declares a flood-damaged car a total loss, that information isn’t communicated to potential buyers. Once a flood car is totaled, it’s supposed to get a new title, called a salvage title. Those titles are usually plainly marked (known as being “branded”) with the word “salvage” or “flood.” In some states, this warning is shown on the title as an obscure letter or number code. Totaled cars are typically sold at a salvage auction to junkyards and vehicle rebuilders. Reselling them to consumers may be legal if the flood damage is disclosed on the title. Those “salvage title” cars can’t be registered until necessary repairs are made and the vehicle is reinspected by officials. Then the vehicle is given a “rebuilt” title, which allows it to be registered for consumer use. But as Consumer Reports found years ago in an investigation of rebuilt wrecks, some flood-damaged vehicles reappear with a clean title. Be especially wary of any used car being offered with a “lost” title or with only a bill of sale.
Can you drive a salvage title vehicle on the road? Can you talk about changing a title from salvage to clear so the vehicle can be sold as roadworthy. Thanks very much for your great videos.
I have a question. If you purchase a truck from copart that has a cracked windshield, could you use this same process to deep clean it, and prevent further humidity/water damage from rain getting through a hole or 2 in the windshield? Is there any further steps you would take to prevent damage
def check the cavities under the doors and corners. Ford puts holes across those, and if they're full of water they'll rust. I guess it's Ford's way of guaranteeing their products won't last forever.

I don't think it was legal. I work for a KY dealer and buy cars here. The same Copart makes us tow them out, charges an $80 fee to bring to the front gate for pickup and we are 30 minutes from the facility. He was driving from behind the front gate. I guess rules don't apply to everyone.
