I've since upgraded this machine to the RatRig Killerbee! Check that video here ua-cam.com/video/lMeUc2sMNYs/v-deo.html
Thank you for your honest review of the WorkBee Lee! We really appreciate the feedback you have given, and very happy to hear that overall you would recommend our machine :) . Thanks again for bringing the lead screw error to our attention soo early on, it allowed us to quickly rectify any issues for similar-sized machines who were made in the same batch as yours. If you ever need anything feel free to give us a shout. Ryan Lock
Hi Ryan. More than happy to recommend Ooznest and show it off in my little corner of the internet! With the screws, stuff happens. It got sorted out quickly and I was up and running in no time. Just placed an order for a couple of end mills actually, looking forward to deep diving into this! Thank you again for an awesome kit! (PS shout about your learning portal! amazing resource)
Can you get these across the pond in the United States fairly easy?
@@robertbooth1399 Yes we ship to the US!
I must admit. Totally agree with you. Support is superb. Also had a couple of niggles. Mine were when commissioning it. I had the Ethernet version of the board and you need a crossover cable for direct connection from your PC, a normal one doesn't work. Which they don't tell you on the manual.
I do 3D stuff which I design with Design Spark Mechanical CAD, save as a *.stl file which I then import into vCarve Pro to set up toolpaths then out as gcode. It works really well. Super happy to see the idea in my brain come out on the WorkBee. The machine also needs to be calibrated which they don't say in the manual either. I found it here in UA-cam when doing my research and 'homework' for it.
Features I would like or able to retrofit. Be able to position using a digital numeric display on my PC as opposed to the probe. Linear encoders would be great. Manually be able to cut a straight line with perhaps a dial to regulate feed, maybe even an analogue joy stick. Temperature and amperage display to monitor how hard the machine is being worked.
Overall I am super happy with it and recommend it as a good purchase.
ive got one of these on order, watching this video is pretty reassuring.... i know its going to be a pretty daunting assembly for me
Hey bro, can I give you some advice? enjoy the process. I really enjoyed following the instructions and building it. If you get stuck Ooznest will sort you out
That sign is legit man. Can’t wait to see what else you do with that machine bro.
Thanks Mark! Some legit sheeet hopefully bro!
Nice setup Lee, I remember using one in college, annoying thing back then was once you switched it off it would reset so the g code was gone, I’d love to do this sort of stuff, can’t wait to see more videos
Thanks bro! Yeah it’s exciting for sure, can’t wait to get into it a bit more!
Oh, you will have fun with this, Lee! This type of manufacturing technology fascinates me.
Looking at all those parts would amaze me as well...but not in a positive manner:)
Yeah this small garage manufacturer stuff is quite amazing really, can’t wait to get more into it
You can build one with more sturdy cnc for the same price. With flat linear rails and 1.5kw watercooled spindle kit. It just takes time planning and searching for parts.
Lee the legend. Mate If I was to say how seriously jealous of this CNC machine I am.... That would be a lie. There are no words for how jealous I am. Great job!
Hahahahah, Mark, how are you geezer?
@@LeeWright Very much well mate, cheers. Hope all's good with yourself. Look forward to catching up with you soon if we get a chance!
Dope bro. I know you going be doing amazing things with it. I love that all the screws are the same size unlike the evolve thing you too apart. Jejejejejejeje. Got one for you, unwilling tag you on my next video.. Hilarious
Thanks bro! I'm going to try! Lots of prototype stuff on here then send off to be made elsewhere
This is exactly the video i needed to see! Im also looking to buy a workbee and would love for you to show me what you've learned about Fusion 360, how to use their software to load designs into the cnc and anything else that could be a concern for someone wanting to start! I've not seen a video like that on youtube and would find it a massive help
Im still a very basic user on the CAD side of thinks so I wouldnt like to dve into that just yet! Have you checked out the Carbide3d youtube channel? loads of good info on there! im glad you enjoyed the mate! I hope I can do some cool stuff going forward!
Hi Lee
enjoyed your video, considering getting myself one of these great machines.
Can you buy the 1750 x 1750 complete kit or do you have to modify it yourself ?
Also is it possible to buy the enclosure to fit that size from Ooznest ?
greetings from me, cnc youtuber from Indonesia🙏
Greetings brother!
nice video man, wish I had one of these aha
yeah its a nice tool to have for sure
Great video. What board is this using? Are the drivers built into the board?
Wow bro had a lot of experience with cnc routers looks a great bit of kit
Yeah tbh mate it is a fantastic kit! I realllllllly enjoyed putting it together
Good video, will this cnc machine work with Light Burn?
Hi, great video. I'm thinking of getting one myself and was just wondering about noise levels. Did you find the encloser works and was it worth the extra? Thanks 👍
Hood question. The enclosure definitely helps with the noise of the cutting, it is a big difference. I think you could easily and cheaply design an enclosure yourself that is better than the ooznest one though.
Thanks for this. Can you tell me if it's possible to cut through 38 mm. (1.5" ) with the spoil board set as you did with your logo?
I believe that set like this you have 40mm of Z travel.
Lee I have an important question I have. 48v 20 ah battery and one of the connected bits corroded away so it lost connection can I resoldet to fix so it can charge
Depends what connection bro, If you send me an email or contact me on Instagram with pictures I can better advise you
Nice!! Will that DeWalt do metals and well? Guess it just depends on the bit?
Yeah I think it will do aluminium tbh, I want to get some experience and to do a few bits to this machine before I start stepping up to metal
I'm curious as to what kind of speeds you are obtaining on the X-Axis before you have to worry about whippage of the leadscrew?
Some of the models you can buy have tingle tension which puts the leads crew under tension which eliminates the whipping. I'm getting the rat rig version with leads crew and linear rails. And it's upgraded frame from oozenest version
I notice they recommend the cheaper brand Oooznest router when selecting one, and you bought the DeWalt one, any advice on this?
The Makita can go lower in RPM, the default was just what was available when I ordered. The new one they have, think it’s called Katsu maybe? Not sure on it, have never used one
Where is the link for buying the mechin??
Hello
Can someone tell me if i can use this cnc for drilling and routing of Printed Circuit boards?
Thanks
Nope. It can't. I have ended up retrofitting a closed loop system on it: stepperonline kits + NVEM Novusun V2 controller and Mach3. The WorkBee although a superb build and support comes with open loop steppers which are just not designed to be all that accurate. Buy one, but without the electrics.
Can you run material longer than the surface? Im looking to cut grooves on a 6 foot board every 2 inches. on the dot. but the surface isn't that big, is there a way to let it cut the grooves the first two feet. slide it down, get the next two feet and so on
Absolutely you can do that, you would just need to index the stock correctly
@@LeeWright thank you!!
Hello Lee! i have a Lion 18650 - 10S5P battery 36V, power 360 Wh. Capacity 10 Ah. I wanted to ask you a help. How can i know how much this battery can give discharge amps? I need to adjust it on the Vesc settings. Please tell me what should i do, how can i find out. Thank you! 🙂
hey bro, depends on the cell type? can you tell me what it is?
@@LeeWright i think it's 2.6 Ah. not sure. Can i maybe send you picture of the battery? It will be then easier.
Ham sandwiches for lunch anyone?
At risk of being 'That Guy' ...1:33 s . Back out material with a cross-cut fence on a sledge or a sliding carriage folks.
That aside, enjoyable and informative video .
yep, deffo a bit ghetto there mate. I need to use that thing properly
Yes buddy, stay safe .
The HSE do some useful short documents on working with woodworking machines ...all sounds a bit 'elf n safety', tho worth a quick read if you want to tighten up your skills and keep your fingys

PS My Workbee arrives in September - Woo!
Custom engraved decks coming soon?
Now we are talking....
Anyone else thinking all that red light at the start hes either taken up photography / on the bridge of a submarine or in Amsterdam
hahahaha! Brilliant! aye aye captain!
I realize it's kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good site to stream newly released series online ?
@Keagan Quinton Flixportal :P
@Wyatt Kairo thank you, I signed up and it seems to work :) I appreciate it!!
@Keagan Quinton Happy to help =)
What is the file format used by this machine?
.nc mate
What is the price of new?
Hello Lee, does the machine handle hardwood as oak or ash easily ? Any experience?
No experiance in that matey but it does Aluminium and even Steel so I would assume it would have no issues
@@LeeWright where did you buy it and what was the cost ? I’m thinking about something like this
Hi Lee i have just messaged to Ben and he said I should ask you.
Sorry for bothering you,do you mind me to ask if you have bought their software ?range 300-1700quid or you guys has some alternatives by any chance?
I think I should mention I like to get the:
1000x1500 kit from workbee
For small and large scale wood and softmetal work.
Many thanks
I use fusion 360 to do my work but V carve is very good and you should consider it for simple carving operations.
@@LeeWright thank you Lee.so do you think I should just buy with their basic free software which limited to 600x600work surface and then just instal the Fusion360?
I mean by the software the 3option you have when you buy from ooznest...
Thank you
"It took 4 weeks to get here" .. ahh for the good old days :(
apex custom gear drive coming soon hahahaha
Haha
Hi there, how loud is the WorkBee? I'd like to buy one to use it in my flat but obvoously don't want it to be too loud.
I'd say it's too loud for a flat tbh mate. It's also a very continuous drone and I dont think your neighbours would be too happy about it going on for hours at a time bro
A bit louder than a vacuum cleaner. The router has a little sign saying you have to wear ear defenders. I certainly do and I am in my garage. You can put up with the noise for 3-4 minutes, but after that when the noise stop you do feel you have been exposed to high noise. Don't forget you also have to consider the noise of the dust extractor. The quietest I found was a Stihl SE62E unit and that is still as noisy as an upright Dyson.
@@perro0076 I also wear ear defenders. I am using the enclosure now though and that has cut the noise significanty
What VESC is this running LOL
Lol. I was about to ask the same thing but you beaten me to it.lol
Hahah dude! A departure from my normal content but it's cool!
Now you can make a lot brother
yeah deffo mate, have already been making some cool stuff
Lee I need a battery esk an controller for 2 70amp motors on my diy still waiting on my motors at the mo they are taking forever lol I was thinking 10s 2p but I was told that I can go to 12s with the 245kv 6364 turnigy 70 amps I don't no if this is true facts but ist important to me if I can have more power I will but not sure can u help me setup the power an put this to bed for me then I no what I need to get an I'll do it.
@@neontv6605 yeah you can deffo go 12S on the motors but the Kv is a quite high. will be very fast! it going to depend on the gearing and wheel size - google the esk8 calc
@@LeeWright e skate says 48mph 200wheel 72tooth gear.Motor gear 20 tooth I think.With a trampa bigger beast box for the battery box.
I don't intend to use all that an die I'm going to battle harden them I got some miniputty to do that as well.
Expect to spend $2000
🤙🖖👍👍👍

Mine works too. I used the Woodglut plans and performed it without any problems.
