Topkey in Lithuania sells these for just over EUR 4. They also stock other Red Line locks.

The cheapest Abus I can find around here (in an allegedly rich country) is about £2.30, but it's not that red variant, just a tiny brass thing that looks like you can rip it apart with your bare hands. In fact, that's how I've seen many of the Abus padlocks here opened - they've been cheap and flimsy, and didn't even need picking or cutting.

I was as sorprised as you when I first saw it. And as you said is difficult to beleave that a company that is making now padlocks as the Granit risk their name and reputation by selling that kind of Chinese manufacturing for export.
I know you like rare things like these Abus, glad you find it interesting ;o)))
Take care my dear friend! ;o)

    Abus what are you doing?
Surely life in the lock world isn't that bad?
An Abus kick should in UGX Ugandan shillings, how confusing.

Interesting... Ash, how does picking it compare to the Abus 75/40? or if anyone else knows??

I reckon picking it took slightly longer than removing it from the blister pack. 🤔😂

Yes, they've been doing that for a while now, and shockingly some of them are door cylinders. BUT the difference here is that the ABUS one seems to be smooth in the mechanism and pins, whereas the YALE cheapos are shockingly rough.

Did you say it was the "Red Line series"? Seems appropriate. Almost a don't buy label?

They're all doing this these days. Squire and Sterling are outsourcing a bunch of crap locks to China to be made dirt cheap.
Must be a good reason but it certainly reduces my faith in these brands.
