Great video and I love that they are backwards compatible with the vintage vehicles too. Which makes perfect sense for Playmates seeing as they are re-releasing alot of their vintage vehicles. I saw the Donatello by itself at Wal-Mart yesterday but passed on him until I was able to check out some reviews first. And the price on these can't be beat in today's figure market.
these are really incredible figures it's nice that they are updating old molds with modern improvements. i am loving all of this 40th anniversary stuff, the 1983 sketch figures are great also
Honestly for the price these are incredible. I got these and the vintage sketch turtles around the same time and i have to say i find these so much more fun. I definitely mess around with them more than my neca turtles
Prediction: they’ll reissue these without the dimples (after everyone buys them) and fix the Leo / Don portraits. Again - *after* everyone has already bought them.
Was stoked about these when they were announced. Even more excited when we saw them in packaging. They did not disappoint once I got them. My only gripe are the looseness of the bases - just like you said. The figures themselves are great.
Love these picked up 2 sets one for display one to keep in box skin texture doesn't bother me real turtle's have ruff skin so complements the figure just fine everyone has a preference but for those who passed you will be rethinking you're decision especially for the price point great review there even better in person
The head switch isn’t a big deal. People forget (or don’t know) that the gold Fifth anniversary Leo was actually a Donny figure. Check the head sculpt. It’s Donny
@@ToyAttics And the expressions not matching with the vintage ones is disappointing to most. That’s what the MOTU community thought when the Origins He-man had a non-vintage inspired head. Resulting in Mattel giving re-releases & future He-man figures a vintage inspired head.
If you go back a couple years I was championing for them to make these lol. Took them long enough. And they are a grail to me. Want another set. If they did the variants, like ninja action to head swap. Oh buddy lol
Still haven’t pulled the trigger myself. Liking what I’m seeing about them though. Getting strapped for space and still a lot of true vintage figures I need to add sometime too. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on them, definitely making it a harder decision!
Totally irrelevant, but why have so many people started saying "a tad bit?" That's like saying "automobile car" or "feline cat" - they mean exactly the same thing. I apologize, but you are the fifth video in an 8 video queue that has done this. That being said, fasten the loose bits to the display bases with that sticky putty stuff made for hanging posters on your walls. You'll still be able to move them around, but they won't keep getting knocked out of place if the display gets bumped. You can probably do the same with the figures, but they are obviously a lot heavier than the little greeblies, so it may not work as well. My son was balls to the wall for TMNT when he was a kid, and got me one for my birthday one year - Leo the Sewer Samurai. Unfortunately, it got lost during a cross country move, but I might just snag these up as a change of pace from my usual 60s G I Joe and Captain Action figures.
I’m not a tmnt fan but just kinda wanted a set of them for some reason and I saw these all at Walmart so I grabbed a set. I can’t really complain for $13 a figure but I am worried about the paint on the weapon handles rubbing off if I put them in the hands and take them out from how tight the hands are. Maybe heating the hands up a bit would help
Playmates has been pushing hard into the adult collector upscale products, but mostly failing using decade old bucks such as in the karate kid vs tmnt turtles, and now they re use the ankle pivot from 1990 toys. For the price its a real cop out. If youre gonna push for adult market price points, the quality is just not there. Overall nice releases, but they also re used the classics 7" scale tooled weapons (lazy). The blue on leos sword rubs right off after putting it in his hand a few times.
For all the accessories and box art, the price point is dead on. Ankle articulation? Do they stand? Yes. You want ankle Rockers; Super 7, NECA, Mezco, Mattel Turtles of Grayskull. Have at emb
@@ToyAttics that's a very fair point. I would have even preferred a single hinge without rocker over the swivel, but the swivel does keep the shape pretty classic for the most part. For the price and a small Dio, they are excellent
