Loved this. I hope you do more videos about your studies as and when you’re ready.
Its so good to see a student loving their courses!!😍 Keep going😁
You are such a bright, academic, smart young woman. It makes me proud to be studying with OU this year too!
Wishing All the best for your studies ❤
I was so happy to get back to your channel and hear what you have been doing! It is so exciting that you have chosen a on-line program. That is how I did my Master's degree here in the U.S. I loved my program and learned so much!! These types of on-line only programs have been around for a long time here, way before covid. I remember thinking that you would be such a great teacher and that by getting a degree you would be able to do that. I need to get back to Booktube. I took a detour to another community, but miss the support of readers.
Lucy, It is lovely to know that you are able to balance your writing career with your university studies. As a student in school, I am struggling with pressures everywhere. Some days, I don’t get the opportunity to write because my mind is flooded through all of the time I have had to dedicate to schoolwork and I know you were in the same position a few years ago. From working as a professional author for two years, you have certainly developed time management and how to work productively. You began writing The Paper and Hearts Society when you were in school and I know I can do it. I just have to keep going until the end of this draft, which I am working on. I would love to study History at the Open University in a few years. The wonderful thing about the arts and humanities module is that I can also study English Literature, Creative Writing, and Philosophy aside from History. At present, I love history and I have always had a fascination for exploring and living the past. I have merely wanted more in-depth study, which I am sure I will acquire when I study for my degree. I am glad to know that you are able to find time for everything. Studying is your priority, but you have been able to make some progress on your historical fiction novel. I love learning about revolutions and I know that this course will be best for me. For now, I am escaping to the stories my imagination conjures and hoping that one day I will make it to the end and that someone can read it. I have been enjoying learning history on my own outside of school through research online. I love you
So glad you are enjoying school! It's such a special time ☺
It was interesting to hear about an university experience so different from mine. It's great that you are enjoying your studies!
I am so glad you are enjoying your History degree. I am looking forward to your next update to tell us more. x
I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying your OU course. :)
It's interesting to hear about how the BA is run - quite different from my BSc in Computing at the OU. Our ETMA is like our previous TMAs instead of a project.
I did an OU Degree. It started with Aa100 which was the predecessor to the one you did on the Humanities. I knew I wanted to go down the English language and literature path but one or two others changed their minds and went down a different route which was why it was multi disciplinary so that we got a taste of what was available within the Humanities. Once you get to Level 2 you start on your chosen pathway. I loved it. We did Dr.faustus, The Burial at Thebes and Shakespeare's plays later on.
Thank you so much for a great video! I'm a new student in the OU for the next semester, i'm really excited because english is not my native language at all, I'm Spanish, and this is a great challenge for me :). Hoping you have passed your first year with great honours!!
Agree: time management and study skills are vitally important. Good luck with your newest book!
I got procrastination down to a fine art too when I studied!! 😂
This is really interesting!!
I am also studying a history degree with the open university and I’m absolutely loving it too!!! Good luck girl
I'm doing A225
The Best of luck 🍀
It's so interesting to hear about uni from an OU perspective, it's making me wish I could do a PhD with them!
You should!!
Hi Lucy! I am studying an Arts and Humanities degree at the OU as well. I am an English Language major. I completely relate to what you said about certain tutors and their tutorials being hit or miss. I particularly enjoyed the Blues tutorial more so than others despite my lack of musical knowledge but didn't enjoy the Creative writing.
Hello ! Even I’m studying English but I’m studying it from India and I’m having a hard time to manage it all by my own as there’s no proper guidance from the tutors on how to proceed ! Any tips ?
@@mansijain6960 Hi! Would you mind telling me what modules you'd like some help on specifically? A general tip I could give you is that read the assignment questions right at the start of the year and reread them at beginning of each block (book) or when you finish one assignment, read the next one. The thing is, I think most blocks tend to deal with a VERY wide range of topics and its near impossible to retain all of the information about all of the topics. Instead, know what points you will need to answer and remember the keywords in the question and look for them in the materials when studying them. Hope this helps!
@@noorkhan215 yes that really helps, I’m struggling a bit with history of literature any tip there ?
@@mansijain6960 great! and ah, unfortunately not since I didn't study any literature modules.
@@noorkhan215 ok no problem!! Thanks for the help tho 😇
Would love some study videos. Please do some.
I'm interested in knowing career paths with a history degree, what do you plan on doing in the future? It sounds like a massively interesting degree
I really enjoy Spanish but I’m unsure I’m at the level expected at uni which I presume is almost fluent. How are you finding it?
Hi Lucy was great to gear your experiences. How accessible are the materials they send you? Are there lectures on each topic live online? Or pre recorded?
Sounds like it's suiting you well, Lucy, and the flexible structure is a good fit with your writing. :-)
Totally irrelevant I know, but your hair is gorgeous! 🤩
I'm considering starting an OU course soon, but I can't decide which course to take. I really like the idea of either doing a History course like yourself, or an English Literature course.
Ideally I'd like to get out of working my current factory job, and go into something more rewarding. But I have this feeling both of them will just land me into a teaching role - which just isn't for me (I think). Do you have any plans for what you're going to do once you graduate?
I have signed up for English Literature with them . October Start.
Same as myself. I stared in October A111 Arts and Humanities and then studying English Literature. I hope you are enjoying it, like I am
Is the curriculum the same as a more traditional curriculum? My main concern is that OU might not cover all the materials and books a offline degree in literature would 🤔
I am doing history: and politics with the OU and hope to be a history teacher. I wish you well.
Good Luck with your studies 😊👍
That's an awesome ambition, David - best of luck!!

What did you like about Russian revolution?
😀😀😀
You remind me of Princess Beatrice
Are you doing it over 3 yrs? I took 10 hrs to do my English lit degree with the open uni
10 hours of classes in total, to graduate?
@@user-ld5hp5ql5o lol
Did you enjoy it? That's the only thing that matters!!
Great content and subscribed! Would love to hear what you think of our grad school channel. Thank you.
