Bushcraft overnighter in the woods, camping out at a natural shelter made of eastern red cedar logs and leaf litter. Campfire cooking inside the shelter a nice dinner at the campsite.
I get out to a new location in the woods and build an open a-frame / lean-to type shelter to spend the night in. A very time consuming build. First i started off by finding two trees that were about 8-10 feet apart that i could secure my ridge pole to. Then, i began leaning cedar saplings up against it, and cutting them to length. All of the wood i am using in this video was sourced from a neighboring plot of land, where the landowner was clearing out some land for some sort of building. The trees were cut down, and i offered to haul them off for free.
The project required me to use an axe to clean them up quite a bit, so that they fig together snug. Once the back wall was completed, i spend about an hour getting leaves together to cover the back wall to protect myself from the elements: rain and wind.
The front and side of the shelter is enclosed to keep the smoke from the fire, blowing out. It worked very well for the majority of the night while cooking and hanging out in camp. I hope you all enjoy the bushcraft overnighter, i hope to get back out and add to the shelter and make some improvements to it soon!
Thank you all for watching, i hope you enjoy this one.

Scrambled O Video was spot on, so nice to see you sharing your craft🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲😉⛩🌲🌲🌖🐺. Don’t get in trouble at the farm🏯 with the wifey☯️”balance my grasshopper “.🐉🙏🏽🐅
I watch a TON of videos in this same genre from about a dozen different people I like, but your videos are BY FAR the most entertaining. I generally watch them before I go to sleep, and normally wake my wife up from my laughing. I've been a fan for years, and will continue to be as long as you are willing to put out content. Thank you for taking the time out of your life to do this. God bless you and yours.
Thanks man. I try to have fun with it and break the mold that is the bushcraft community. I won’t make videos that I wouldn’t watch myself.
What he said... yeah. Spot on. This has to be one of the best ones yet from Scrambled O. Most excellent.
@@BIGBUBBADIESEL Thanks Ken! Glad ya guys liked this one.
Totally agree with you!
That voice over was hilarious! Properly crying with laughter. My vote is for tree house/raised platform thing, overnight in a hammock. 🤘
Challenge accepted.
Yeah, I'm good with the treehouse.
Martin you rock.
Been watching your vids for a few years. You are indeed one of the most entertaining bush crafters on the tube.
You have found your niche. Cooking. Dropping bacon. Bad feather sticks trouble splitting wood and a smoky fire makes us less than Joe R bush bums feel like equals.
You make us feel like we can do that too.
Keep it up dude.
Thanks.
Jim from the Erie Shore.
When the “FOOOOOOOLLLLKKKSSSSS” started at the beginning I immediately got chills and almost started crying 😭 I’ve missed the CHECKIN IN sooo much!!! This was an amazing video and I’m so glad that you’re back! All of O-Tube has missed you!!
The voiceover was brilliant
That intro tho!!
Yeah buddy mixing it up LOL
Bless you, brother. You're making some magic here, in an era of uncertainty.
Digging new scrambled introooooooo’s
Thanks bro! I did a little work on it 🤗
I have to say that was one of the best you have put out recently. They are all great, but its good to see you having a great time on a longer video that keeps one on the edge till the end. Loved the meal, the fire, the verbiage, the midnight scenes and the shelter. Classic!!
GO MARTIN!! GO MARTIN!
I hope your well and enjoying married life!
We miss you!
Stay Safe!
Thanks for the 'giggles'!
LOVED. THE. FORMAT! The voice overs were awesome, an amazing representation of American old west literature. I enjoyed every minute of this. Thank you for the hard work.
Nice to see you back out there again. Stay safe man 🤙🐺
Thanks, will do!
"That sounded weird too." Needed that belly laugh.
Ha! Ha!
I almost forgot about that!!!
ahahahahah
That narration is a special touch of O that, in my opinion, makes your videos ten times more enjoyable. They're always funny, but this one makes me feel like I'm reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, or Huckleberry Fin with a modern bushcraft twist. Top notch, sir.
Wow, thanks! a very kind comment. Thank you Stephen.
Videography, voiceover, camp, fire pit and steak : Everything looked and sounded perfect. Might be the best scrambled o video to date. Pure perfection sir!! Always looking forward to the next one!!
Thanks so much! Means the world to me that people actually enjoy the videos.
@@ScrambledO I had to pause after the intro to comment on it. The narration, voice and performance were amazing. The Road to Self Reliance? Awesome! Back to the video.. Cheers!
“Fine as cream gravy”. This was good.
hahaha i was crackin up when i heard that playback for the first time
When is the misses gonna make her debut to the world of scrambled o?
Everybody loves a film noir western
Yes to the voiceover; yes to the treeehouse!
Others may have already commented on this, but when your meat isn't thawed all the way and you're using it for stir-fry (and other recipes where you're mixing it in), you can slice it up and then cook it. This will help it to cook evenly and MUCH faster. Your stir-fry looked delicious!
Man. This content is just awesome! Great camerawork and editing as always Martin, keep it up G
Started as a Goodfella then ended up as John Wayne. That's real good Bushcraft as it can get.😂
Keep us entertained O. Can't thank you enough how much of a relief it is to watch the forest woods, dry leafs and camp fire. 👍🤠
Thanks Martin for the balanced entertainment. This is a very functional camp as well as pleasing to the eye. Brian 79
Love these vids!! Keep 'em coming plz.
you're an artist, Mr. O
Just now saw this video, don’t know how I missed it eight months ago. The voice over narration was hilarious. You are one creative fellow, and your humor is second to none.
Thanks man. Had fun making this one.
FIRST! You're a goodfella, bud.
😀 Hahahhaha you like that? 🌲😃
@@ScrambledO you think I'm funny? Funny how?? I'm a clown, I amuse you??

Best narration yet!
Thank you for a very fine video! I laughed until I cried! I LOVE the Trapper character. I am looking forward to seeing the ole Trapper make a treehouse. Cya next time. Stay safe and healthy! Love from Canada.
Video was fun, shelter was great, but that voice over was next level! Excellent video!
Yeah! I thought it was pretty fun. A couple haters… But you’ll have that
My son said Scrambled O is the bushcraft Ricky Berwick and now I can't unsee it 😆
Its 3am here in the Philippines and I just woke up. And saw the notification. Another one in the books. The book is called "List of my favorite days of my 2020"

When someone asks what a good bushcraft channel is, your name definently comes up .You add so much of yourself in the videos ,such personality.....👍😁🤪🤣
Thanks Josh I hope people can take a break from the other channels to watch mine from time to time. I try not to be so serious with this type of content as it’s just a hobby.
@@ScrambledO LOOK A DAT REPLY BOI !

Thank you Brian I’m very much appreciate you watching and commenting have a good weekend buddy
@@ScrambledO You as well, scrambled O 👍
His voiceover sounds like one of those Dutch knife guys when they do their American Southern/Western accents. Hilarious.
Or narrating a southern wildlife documentary.🤠
This was a masterpiece!
Hello from Ljungbyhed Sweden 🙂 Smokey Mountain outpost sent me here 💕
LOL, LOL...very funny, entertaining. Thanks!
you know hat we come for sO do more out side cooking and make easyer shelters.. learnt the hard way most bush craft shelters with out tarp is going to leak on u horribly... =(

Great to see you out there doing your thing and providing some entertainment. I would keep working on that shelter and have another over night or 2. Looks awesome.
Thanks man 👍🏼
Great one! Loved the voice over. Like listening to a narrative of a 200 year old journal.
Glad you enjoyed it! i thought it was fun :)
cool man real cool
Awesome video, enjoyed the story telling along the trail
ahhahaa Yeah I thought that was a fun way to edit it together glad you enjoyed it Jerry
"Good time to sit by the fire, figure whatya did whatya ain't done"
Hahahaha I liked that line too
@@ScrambledO the voice over was top notch hope you keep it up. Attaboy cowpoke!
Hell yeah the intro is back! woot woot!!!!!!
Really liking the southern Batman persona
Awesome videos.. Thanks
Loads of fun. I'm seeing the old "O" relaxed and entertaining with a new flair of videography there too. Keep up the good work, I personally can use these videos to keep my sanity during these times. I appreciate you and your work. Going to coin a new phrase for you to use " O Isims" meaning those sounds and wisdom imparted only by The Great Scrambled O himself 😁
Lowell Williamson 🧐💕🤗✝️. May I suggest. PRIMITIVE SURVIVAL / primitive living channels. They are so relaxing. And interesting. You won’t be able to stop watching them ✝️
Smokey Mtn Outpost sent me here! Great channel!!!

Hope you're doing well and putting together another cool video.
You are my hero bruh. I've been watching your videos since you started your channel. Foooooooolks! Thanks for checking in.
Thanks man! Nicest thing I have heard all day!
I like watching you on UA-cam. I hope you stay on for a long time.
The BEST VOICE in Bushcraft rides again. Best original writing, too! Great idea for a series. I like to see shelters used overnight...at least once. Yes I have been that tired, especially after a hard day of hiking.
Haha thanks buddy. Yea, I like the idea of trying a few different shelters until I find one that suits me best.
Superior entertainment Martin Thank You buddy...
Smokey Mountain Outpost sent me.
Thank you so much for taking me away to a beautiful dreamland....away from these modern day worries & troubles.
😀🙂😉
Nailed it boi . Lovin the voiceover .
Another awesome day at camp! Your hilarious narration made me think of Mark Twain! And that big ole shelter - I definitely wouldn’t feel skwamptious in there! 👍
Dam Boa 7.5 on a fine stir fry in the bush, that was a 9 if not a 10. Like the experimenting on intros, and the back woods Arkansas voice over is my favorite next to scrambled ooo . Almost like a 1800's trapper talking, Martin you are entertaing and I thank you. my vote platform, hammock across & maybe a natural cooking fire. ..maybe 3 vids there have fun....loogedat boa go.....
Looks nice and cozy in there !! love it
LL Bean Slipper Socks are perfect for that situation where you wanna take your boots off but still need something to walk around camp in. Much more pliable that regular slippers too.
Thanks Matt I will take a look at them
beautiful shelter Martin..... keep being genuine
You're getting so creative with your videos. I learn..I chuckle..I watch
Keep watching and I will keep raising the bar
Lunch look good and great job on the shelter
Gotta keep it balanced, I agree with you O!
Thanks for your time and videos!
Awesome shelter and all that good cooking, everything look delicious! Buen provecho amigo😋
The BEST introduction ever!!

Hey Scramble O You seem like you having so much fun coool man
Hahahaha the narration was epic!😀👍🏻👍🏻
I'm always watching..Exotic scenery ... good ..
HOLY SHIITake mushrooms!! That look's freaking AMAZEBALLS! The shelter the cooking the good vibes and funny sh*t, PEACE&LOVE🤙😁
A++++++ would watch again. Thanks for the entertainment!
Thanks Ben. You da man.
I love the shelter. Great video thank you
I like it.
Very entertaining, educational and relaxing. That meal looked great, I'm gonna try it. I love seeing good food and good recipes being prepared and cooked, not so much the chowing down. Some make you watch them stuff in the whole meal. Ugh, I'm surprised they don't record getting rid of it. Yours is good, you sell it, but not too much. Open fire cooking, fresh air sleeping. Good for the soul.😎👍
