I am just wondering why you would need this? You are going to wire the receiver to an FC and once you do that you can plug your FC into your computer and write the ELRS that way, right?
For me the best feature of elrs receivers is the fact that you power the receiver without radio wait 60 seconds to let it enter wifi access point connect to it with your phone connect it to your wifi box and then you can update it with elrs through network.
I had gotten the product anouncement mail and was not sure what it would be and if limited to radiomaster only. But this looks more like a swiss army knife for elrs receivers - from my impression. They should have called it therefore swiss army knife for any elrs receiver. Would raise more attention and sell far better. I had not bought it , but now after your watching your video I guess I need one even though i have some usb uart converters but no pogo pin adapter and all connectors. Looks like a must have once someone has watched your video. I have to find it on aliexpress or so cause radiomasters usual 10€ shipping fee is far too high. thanks a lot
Tbh it's not really a swiss army knife for elrs receivers either. It's a generic USB to UART Converter, with flexibly usable harness. Can do much more than just flashing ELRS. Heck, it can even flash F3 FCs with Betaflight, if they have a broken USB to UART bridge. It can also be used for configuring betaflight, if you have driver issues (that is, if MSP is enabled for other ports than just the USB VCP)
Unless bricked, pretty useless for quad RX. But yes for Aircraft 100%. Good to see with the kit etc only $10usd as the chinese UART programmers are like $5 so a reasonable price
I have never had a problem, and I use the high power telemetry receivers. 🤷♂️ Do you know if/how much telemetry it transmits if it’s not connected to your radio? I have no idea personally.
@@lemonsquareFPV I have no idea, but probably none. It's not just the telemetry though, it goes into WIFI mode if no radio is connected after a minute.
@@icebalm I actually keep the Wi-Fi disabled on my receivers. I rarely use it. And that itself has an etched antenna in the PCB so that not really relevant. Honestly I never felt a receiver get hot, so never worried about it, and never had any issues, but I’m very interested to look up how and when it transmits telemetry. Thank you for the thoughts.
it's cool but too long and you have to pay, it would be better if they updated their "open source" firmware to be able to flash correctly using uart, wifi and above all to be able to overwrite/flash with page 10.0. 0.1 because you can't erase and flash you can just flash and as the rx memory is already full it doesn't work you have to go through the PC configurator.. in short it requires work and not gadgets...
Here is some insight for you, I am sitting on least 10 items sent over the last 3 months I have not actually got to yet. I decided to do a video on this as it’s bloody handy. I never said I would stop reviews I just said it’s my intention to slow them however that will be something take takes time and regardless they will always be reviews on the channel. As for affiliate links please provide the time stamp where I said I would stop using them or slow down ? . I have always said I will be crystal clear where they are used and where they are not. Radiomaster is a brand that I use them on and have for over a year and that has not changed and will not change. I’m sorry but you seem to have heard something different to what I actually said. How I run my channel has not changed and I remain i believe one of the most open and honest channels in FPV and beyond. I say what I feel regardless of links If you have a problem with that you are more then welcome to unsubscribe.
This one is great! I've been using FTDI USB to TTL Serial Adapter Module in restoring my friends bricked Receivers
Agree, nice kit, but if you have an ftdi adapter lying around that would suffice for most receivers
I am just wondering why you would need this? You are going to wire the receiver to an FC and once you do that you can plug your FC into your computer and write the ELRS that way, right?
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but those are servo pin headers. Pogo pins are spring loaded pins, like the sockets under Intel CPU's.
Nice assortment of connectors!
Great idea! Being able to program before installation is a game changer.
Saving this for when I get my fpv gear in the near future!
What you getting?

Thanks Didn't know about the boot button press.
Awesome! Thanks a bunch for all the info and the tutorial, Ian! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Merry Christmas and happy new year!

The channel to learn. thank u
Great video Ian
Hope your not feeling to bad made. It’s everywhere it seems. It’s even in my family now.
Ah, thank you@@MadRC, much better thanks. I still have a pesky cough, day 5 so hoping things will improve from here on in.
Thanks mads...

@@bspringeryep, that’s right.
I have a $1 UART USB converter I use for my receivers and FCs occasionally.
It’s most useful after a failed flash.
A nice device, but not useful for the receivers that are already installed in the drone

Just a warning for everyone: DO NOT POWER ON A RECEIVER WITHOUT THE ANTENNA CONNECTED! They can fry themselves.

What happened to your realization about doing less reviews and not pushing products and affiliate links? Guess that didn't last long.. typical
I'm really grateful for this review

A shill for the ELRS industrial complex... Comments for algorithm.
I can see way to much work to me, your really need to learn a new system/ tool, I feel you would have to study each receive.
