    Given that I currently design my own FC with integrated RX, I caught one mistake: "RF Frontend" actually refers the PA/LNA (and potentially filtering and antenna switching), while the SX1281 is called Transceiver/Radio. Great overview otherwise

      can you help me, why this one better than for example some cheaper 10usd elrs receiver? i mean is it better range ? because camera feed drops wayyyyy sooner than your radio :/ im a noob, just trting understand how things work

      @@BasementDwellerFPV-sf5wpYes, it does help with both range and reliability. Most 10$ receivers (with some exceptions) don't have an LNA/PA onboard so their telemetry is gonna be weaker than this one's and you'll have about 1/4 the range (mathematically, practically probably a bit more equalized). Furthermore: Reliability (the more important point imo). While ELRS is quite good with this, I've seen two failsafes (from me and a friend) at about 100m distance only. How? In both cases, the TX antenna was horizontal, leaving a null in the horizontal line outwards from both ends of the T antenna. When this null hits your drone (worst case while the drone has its antenna at a 90° angle to your remote's) then you'll have bad range. The second antenna helps lowering the risk of the TX and RX lined up 90° from each other, thus you have a lower chance of the RX not picking up the packet. Also: chop one antenna, and the other one is still good if you have two :)

    Has anyone tried to use the Radiomaster RP4TD rx in Gemini mode with the BetaFPV SuperG ExpressLRS Module? What are the transmitter options available now for the RP4TD rx in Gemini mode? Any suggestions welcome.

    What’s the point if 1w tx power if telemetry is only 2x100mw,s

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  8 місяців тому +2

      Because your receiver is in the air and a much better hight and location. That 100mw will still massively out perform your ground 1W that’s having to contend with you, the ground and anything else around.

    elrs diversity receivers have an Achilles heel, they cancel each other out and cause failsafe in close range if you are at 1W so if you are flying a long range quad at full 1W and when the quad comes back from a flight it will continue to failsafe around 1meter to 5 meters.
    i wish Mads Tech would do real world testing before recommending them. Radio connectivity related items are sensitive items that can make some people lose their UAV due to bad reviews and recommendations.
    elrs diversity is not ready by any means need to update and fix the issue of close proximity signal interference before they can make products for public.

      You can use dynamic power.

    • @emon6436
      @emon6436 8 місяців тому +5

      @@thirtythreeeyes8624i didn’t have luck with dynamic power had failsafe 2/5 times but still that should be mentioned in the product description page or something MADs Tech should mention.

    • @GiantAntCowboy
      @GiantAntCowboy 8 місяців тому

      @@emon6436I also had failsafe when using dynamic power when I first switched to ELRS.
      My personal opinion is people should never use 1W… it uses excess power, creates heat which wears out components, and the real issue, it creates a ton of RF noise directly under your FPV goggles.
      2.4ghz ELRS at 100mw was tested to 100km; and in my personal testing I’ve found ELRS drastically outperforms our 5.8ghz FPV feeds.

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  8 місяців тому +9

      First of all how are you losing quad at 1-5 Meters range ? . I also would not really be specifically aiming to land a quad with in 1-3 meters of my self 95% of the time so again o don’t see how this is an issue even IF it happened.
      Secondly I have used the diversity receivers from others at 1W with no issue like you have mentioned.
      Thirds I always use dynamic power and it’s been massively improved in later firmware releases.
      As for making “bad recommendations” im sorry but that is nonsense.

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  8 місяців тому +10

      And further to this let’s break this down more.
      Most of the diversity receivers have an LNA, it’s hardly surprising that 1W of rf power at 1-5M would be an issue if you were not in Dynamic Mode.
      This would stand for any RC system including crossfire and anything else.
      Saying this is an Achilles Heal of the ELRS diversity received and that I’m giving bad advice is like saying it hurts when you punch your self in the face but it’s my fault as I did not not tell you to not do it.
      FFS come on and use the hardware and product as it’s expected to be used. A high power RF system is always going to have an issue at very low range and take that into account with your behaviour. Stand 5M back front take off of landing, use dynamic mode.
      Alternately you could choose to set power output via a switch on your radio and then reduce it when you get closer.
      It’s not rocket science, they literally have a specific mode for this kind of thing so use it.
