Totally agree. During a preseason interview Mike MacDonald was asked about the right guard spot and his reply was something along the lines of " I'd like to see somebody step up", I may have been misreading it or just hindsight but his body language on that comment did feel like he was taliking about more than just guards.
I’ve been saying this for a few years now. We need a “heel”. That guy who’s a shade dirty and rough around the edges… but will terrorize an opponent, even at the expense of a few penalties.
I remember years ago an interview with a university of Berkeley player talk about Lynch in practice. He said the tackle lunch was like stopping a boulder rolling down a hill. He said he was glad he was in their side Absolutely agree. They need a guy that has at least some of that on offense and some of Lawrence Taylor that said against the 1980s 49er team said he was was going to knock the snot out of Montana and did. The great Chicago bears team that of the gave up a FG were angry Where is the alpha ? Not the blustering paper tiger ?
Leaders are people everyone listens too, because they have integrity. When people say, "Why would I listen to him?" and it's clear, the reason is they clearly know what they are doing. They clearly bring it, every day. They excel at every task they are given, they don't complain, they hold people accountable for their actions and they show love to their teammates. They don't smash tablets on their foreheads and they don't lay back and sulk on the bench like a bitch (excuse my French). Guys like Dough Baldwin, guys like (yes) Russ who would try to motivate the lineman after a bad series instead of stick their bottom lip out when they go 3 and out. I am sick t o death of this group. Where is the moxy? Honestly, the only guys I would keep on this team is k9, Hall and Witherspoon. The rest of them are replaceable imo, none of them have that dawg in 'em like Lynch said.
Leadership tends to happen with success. I felt this way BEFORE the season that the roster simply didn't have the talent to win consistently. PRIOR to the season I predicted an 9-8 Season and not making the playoffs. I now think it's looking more like an 8-9 season. I believe it was a HUGE mistake to keep the PC approach of believing this Roster was just a couple Veterans and a good draft away from being a contender. Mike MacDonald needed to make this roster his from day 1. That means he should be allowed to use his instincts about players and allow him to make this his team. Yea it's probably more painful that way, but it's giving the guy a more fair chance to allow his leadership skills shine in how he molds this roster.
I'm not talking big money to Geno stone, queen, neccessarily. In hindsight think it may have been a mistake to not get Mike any one of his guys. Demeco Ryans, wade phillips ( rams) and of course pete carrol all had players that knew what they were about when they started at new teams.
@@iron_bison meant one of the Ravens guys to come over with MM. I was against spending on them, but safety has looked bad enough that now I really wonder about Stone (and you know how I complain about no Iowa kids. Bk26!).
They lack a RT, S, LB, G, NT. Get slightly above average players at those positions, then they are possibly 6-0. 2 more drafts and they could be a top team. But they will need to start drafting later round QBs soon and carry 3 QBs until they find a good QB.
I’d say Spoon is that guy but he’s still immature unfortunately. I think Big Cat has it in him and Jarran Reed. But we are missing strong leaders like Kam and Marshawn for sure. 100%. Mike will instill that fight in guys. I trust him. He learned a lot from John Harbaugh.
Geno Smith is the leader of this team. You see him make all those throws with constant collapsing pockets rob? Being classy in press conferences when it was DK's fault for drifting upfield? Geno is the guy. And I hope they extend him and upgrade the o line. Getting an eye poke and only going out one play? Geno is keeping everything in line with his play, leadership, football iq, and grit. Your take on Geno is completely wrong. He always keeps his guys accountable but he doesn't tear them down. Patrick mahomes is the biggest crybaby when players make contact and you talk about his heart is on his sleeve. Leading the league in yards, 68 percent completion rate, 30th ranked o line. And he isn't just going out and making a run, he's keeping composure and slinging darts and making good reads while throwing with accuracy in positions where he can't properly throw the ball . Stone Forsythe is a 3rd string right tackle going against a generational great DE in Nick Bosa. 14 pressures rob. The most any single player has produced in 4 years. Unsubscribed for the Geno bias. You should watch the top billin video actually analyzing what Geno did against the falcons. He actually has credibility as an unbiased analyst and a former high level player.
Having Rob cover the Seahawks is an absolute treat.
It was great having you on Rob. I loved that leadership chat
Back in the early PC/Schneider era we had leaders at nearly every position. In recent years those guys have been difficult to find.
Loved your appearance on The 12 Talk! I've never heard of it before but am now subscribed!
Thanks for the sub 🤙🏻
Rob’s videos are the best Seahawks coverage and content any where!
I’ll be at the game this weekend LFG

Great video🙂
Brilliant.
This team is finesse as we all can see. Badly in need of BAMFs that are naturally leaders as we saw from Lynch and Chancellor
Chris Clemons was one of the main leaders of the D and kept the young one's inline.
Team might not win a Super Bowl without him being there helping ship.

We all forget about Earl.
Exceptional player but not really someone who had the pulse of the team. That was Kam and Marshawn

Definitely a lack of dawg in this group

They definitely needed an example to be brought in now, in hindsight.
@@bretkester8316not convinced that a sub average dlinemen with a 6th round pick in two years is going to tip the leadership scales?

This team is not on a SB trajectory. ‘More time’ and more picks isn’t the answer
I feel like i've been reading just two more drafts for about four drafts in a row.

I thought Witherspoon could be that guy but he's not really shown it so far
No more failed drug tests, DUI or other scandals because every body is a goid guy now
