Mike was 15 here. Jermaine Jackson, (with the luscious hair), became the 2nd most famous Jackson before Janet with his solo career. Jermaine's son Jaffar will be playing his uncle Michael in the upcoming biopic.
Not only was MJ doing the original puppet dance, back then we didn't have cordless mics... so he was constantly aware of where the microphone cable was around his feet and he was constantly spinning the other was to untangle himself. That's an awareness and stagecraft that comes with years of experience performing. He was a veteran even back then 😂🇬🇧
I remember catching this during the summer 74 after coming home from the park watching baseball games. The Jackson Five ages at this airing in 74; Randy 12, Michael 15, Marlon 17, Jermaine 19, Tito 20, Jackie 23.
MJ would have been 16 in this performance! Love your guy’s reaction to the Jackson 5/Michael Jackson! Hopefully y’all can continue with more Jackson5/MJ reactions! :)
It amazes me that it took for Thriller to drop and do the Motown anniversary special for MJ to become the mega star we know today...because this man has had something special about him since day 1....just pure magic its ridiculously good
That was the best one because he messed up a little after his robot and was so smooth with cleaning it up. I remember watching it on Soul Train as a kid. Someone on Instagram pointed out the mistake, and I had to go back and watch it.
I think their performance of this song of Carol Burnette is where he really gets into the Robot big time....I could be wrong the memory is not what is was...sorry..but there is a video out there that is amazing.
It’s definitely going to be dope seeing you react to MJ’s career in order, it’s like you’re getting to see him grow and evolve in real time as the fans did
That’s actually Randy on the congas, not Marlon. Randy is the youngest brother. He was a baby when the Jackson 5 started, that’s why he was not part of the group until much later:)
Check Out The Osmonds! Another kids group and still doing it! Donnie Osmond was 5 years old when he started singing ! They came out around the same time as the Jackson's!
Y’all def have to react to the Maybe Tomorrow by Jackson 5, studio version (not live performance version) one of the most beautiful songs you’ll hear as well as their biggest ballad by far, I’ll Be There as well.
Jackson 5 Jackson's without Jermaine and Michael solo Must people forget that Michael had 2 or 3 solo albums with the J5, plus the Jackson's was the second group after leaving Motown, Most people knew that Michael was more then what he appeared. He truly was a man in Childs body and a child in a man's body. He was gifted! He could draw, sing, dance, act, and he loved other's. However he didn't have a childhood, even at 5, they would leave school on Friday and go to different places to sing, and get back home 3 or 4am Monday morning and go to school. Like I said before, you have to watch Jackson's An American Dream.
Please React to Jackson 5 “Sonny & Cher Show 1972” it’s a 8 minute and 15 second video please React to that specific one😅🙌🏽👑✨(MJ was about 16 in the video y’all watched here and I say let’s just marinate in this Era of the Jackson 5 cause it really shows how MJ voice changed through puberty etc. I’m glad y’all caught onto that I’m telling you you’re in for a treat for the MJ vid I just recommend!)
Hi, love to see new J5 reactions, you guys aren't even near the beginning of the Jacksons/MJ treasure chest of divine musicality. Please react to J5's" Goin Back to Indiana", concert where they perform a medley of songs, "Stand", "Walk On" & "Alright". This took place in 1971 I believe. Hope y'all react & enjoy it! 🤎
His first solo album was got to be there but he was first seen as a solo artist in 1979 after the off the wall album and then the group broke up in 1984 after the victory tour
I have so much of Michael Jacksons comcerts and music videos and interviews on old VHS tapes all the way back when he eas younger to is last this is it DVD he broke so many records that no artist nowadays will evwr break.
Hey!! I love see people experience their MJ journey. I've probably seen everything, but I can't resist going along for the ride😁😁😁Check out the other performance from this Johnny Carson show where they sing a little of Let It Be(by the Beatles of course) and Never Can Say Goodbye.
I just found this channel. If you guys hadn’t checked out the Ed Sullivan performance of the Jackson 5, please do so. It’s the youngest MJ performance I’ve been able to find. They sing 3 songs, including When I Had You. ❤
Michael copped moves from Soul Train. There was a dude on there that used to do the robot, but when Mike got hold of a dance, it’s like he took it next level. Same thing with the Moonwalk, which he saw Shalamar singer Jeffrey Daniels doing & other dude who was a alocker dancer. Jeffrey called it the backslide, & Mike asked if he could call it Moonwalk. Jeffrey also choreographed Smooth Criminal years later. The Carol Burnett Show appearance was better. They had same clothes but the camera work production was handled way better. The camera producer usually watches a run through & then can get the right angles live. The fact that the camera shot went on Randy’s hands playing conga, during the dance breakdown shows that production was lagging big time. That song began to put the world on notice for Mike’s incredible dance skills goin next level. Soon after this is when he got the spot to play the scarecrow in The Wiz movie.
Jacksons were greatly influenced by all the dances on Soul Train: The Robot, locking and popping etc. ❤ when they performed together at Motown 25 when he debuted Billie Jean.
I wish you guys would have looked at the soul train performance of dancing machine. When I was a kid that's the performance me and my friends waited for, because we Heard he was supposed to break out the robot on soul train🚂
You should react to Dancing Machine when they were on the Carol Burnette show. This video cut out Mike doing the whole robot, where on the Carol Burnette show they showed the whole dance.
Ya'll need to look up Jackson 5 on the Carol Burnett show... Ya'll will understand why I recommended...ALSO... Watching "The Jacksons: An American Dream" with Vanessa Williams... Just thought ya'll wld enjoy ❤❤❤ KEEP MAKING MORE AWESOME VIDEOS ❤❤❤
He looks so happy but this age was his most depressing age not only did he miss out on a lot of kid play time as a kid but at 15 he had acne and didn't like showing his face and his dad would make fun of him and call him ugly.
Yeah unfortunately I guess Johnny Carson didn't know how big of a deal "the robot" was so when Mike started dancing they put the camera on Randy instead...
This clip didn't do the performance justice because you didn't get to see him really do the breakdown of robot i would like to see y'all react to another performance of this same song and actually get to see him perform it's definitely a treat.
Michael Jackson has a song called farewell my summer love it's Michael like you have never heard before most people don't even know it was Michael please do a video on this song I would like to know your thoughts and expressions
He was like 15 here. And yes the anount of hits that the jackson 5, the jacksons, Michael, and Janet had as a collective is crazy!
Mike was 15 here. Jermaine Jackson, (with the luscious hair), became the 2nd most famous Jackson before Janet with his solo career. Jermaine's son Jaffar will be playing his uncle Michael in the upcoming biopic.
The cameraman must have been fired for the reason you said, “ put the camera back on Mike.” Panned away from Michael’s dance solo to a set of Bongos 😂
Randy hitting dem bongos was way more important. lol
@@confucius12012 exactly 😂
It's not the cameraman. It was the director in the booth calling the shots and switching cameras.

Depends on the month he was most likely 15
It amazes me that it took for Thriller to drop and do the Motown anniversary special for MJ to become the mega star we know today...because this man has had something special about him since day 1....just pure magic its ridiculously good
MJ became a mega star after his first solo album came out, Off the Wall. Thriller launched him into "God" status. lol.
The afro will never be out of style.
Must be difficult to maintain though
Not at all I'm Rocking My Afro Now😘
To see the original robot catch them on Soul Train in 1973.
They should check out the robot compilation video. Shitty quality tho. ua-cam.com/video/tILn5TbUH9A/v-deo.html&ab_channel=NOLAsoulchild

Gotta hear" Stop The Love You Save May Be Your Own. "
Stevie Wonder was also a child performer, in fact he was called Little Stevie Wonder. Like MJ, SW was/is a musical genius.
They are also cousins😅
They are also cousins😅
They are also cousins😅
Stevie Wonder recorded his first song ( also with Motown) at 11 yrs old with Fingertips part 2.
That’s actually Randy on the congas, not Marlon. Randy is the youngest brother. He was a baby when the Jackson 5 started, that’s why he was not part of the group until much later:)
The camera that doesn't film MJ while he dances is criminal
And not even SMOOTH about it either. 😏
yep yep yep that's the robot!!!
They were truly Amazing! I grew up as a teen in the 70’s. I loved Michael Jackso my entire life. Their music will live on!❤
Growing up my favorite Jackson 5 song was rockin Robin.
love the reactions guys. I remember the Jacksons from way back and Michael was an incredible once in a lifetime talent. Very cool channel you have.
They weren't nervous unless they screwed up. They had it drilled and down everytime.
Check Out The Osmonds! Another kids group and still doing it! Donnie Osmond was 5 years old when he started singing ! They came out around the same time as the Jackson's!
By that time Michael's voice was at the tail end of his transition.

The Osmonds also grew up in tv. They were a singing and dancing family if children. They were friendly competitors of the Jackson’s 5.
Please React to The Jackson 5 “Forever Came Today” on the Carol Burnett Show 1974😊🔥

Back in the day before moonwalk was the robot for us!
Hey guys, I would love to see a reaction for The Jacksons - Forever Came Today ( Soul Train Performance).
Great Reaction. MJ is the G.O.A.T
Dancing Machine was released in 1974. Michael would have been 16 years old.

I had the biggest crush on Michael when I was a kid!
He was amazingly special. ❤️
Donny Osmond of the Osmonds had similar track as MJ. Same era also.
Yes the original robot
Corner of the sky Jackson5
I cant believe the camera guy was on the congas while Michael was doing the robot, what was he thinking!

The Randy Jackson in this is their brother!
Now that's the real Mike..
Please react to Jackson Five: I'll be there, Ben, Music and Me
That's a very young Randy on the Congos not Marlon. Marlon is in the line with the other brothers.
I can never watch a video with young Mike in it and not smile ear to ear
Michael was 16 in 1974.
The robot trumps the moonwalk any day of the week
Looking forward to following your journey down the MJ rabbit hole
React to rock with you 1987 Yokohama live. You won’t be disappointed!!!🙌🏽🙌🏽

I am the same age as Michael. Michael, Madonna and Prince were /are the same age. In 1974 Michael was 15 and turned 16 in December.
turned 16 in august.
You have to react to dancing machine when they show the whole robot

You should react to Dancing Machine when they were on the Carol Burnette show. This video cut out Mike doing the whole robot, where on the Carol Burnette show they showed the whole dance.

Few hairstyles look as equally fabulous on both men as women as the afro does.
If you want to check out Micheals crazy robot dance, look up Jackson five with Cher. He doesn't do it until the last song which is Dance Machine.
I think MJ was around 16 here :)
They cut to the drummer for that small classic bit of the original robot. They did this on a number of videos so you can punch it up.
Randy Jackson (American Idol) was Michael's brother lol
😒Sarcasm. 🤧🫤🤨
THE CAMERA MAN HAD TO BE FIRED FOR THAT CAMERA CUT OFF FROM MJ
I've often wondered... if it bothered his brother's deep down inside that he was so damn talented and that he outshined everything
Gotta Check out Ben from mj when he was 14 it was one of his singles as a child

That was Randy on the bongos
The Carol Burnett show performance of dancing machine was better 💯

React to heartbreak hotel by Jackson 5
The robot was not created by Jackson. Moon walk was not created by Jackson. Black clubs is where he took his dance from.
Please Watch.... The Jackson's An American Dream!

Great reaction. Check out Michael Jackson "Blame it on the boogie"...
The cameraman sucked on this one. Y'all should check out the one he did with Cher! Killed the robot!!!!
