The first shotty I bought cost me $215, was a Mossberg 500, and holds 8+1….
The M1 garand is amazing, it can still defeat most body armor as well, it's a tough old man.
I just wanted to mention that the mark of the imperial family being ground off done on many surrender rifles as it was thought that it would be a disgrace to the emperor by not grounding the mark off and not because it has a meaning like a nazi swastika. Also I believe you shot a arisaka rifle that was not last ditch but not one of the better early war rifles that were vary good rifles. If you thought the rifle was badly designed this may be because the type 99 arisaka rifles weird sights compared to traditional western sights. These sights were made for a more aggressive and sorter distance engagement rather than to improve the accuracy of the shooter as much as possible.
@@Rick_Sanchez_C137_ I moded my shot gun so it holds 7+1so 8 that's crazy if I went 9 the mag tube would have stuck past the barrel just a little bit hahah
@@lizerdmanwithagun7609 the type 99 I have actually has special sights on it that fold up and out for shooting at planes they're really weird but cool. They are original btw.
This isn't America, it's New York lol.
I'm from the UK, but I live in America now. I lived in NYS for 12 years, and it is probably the worst place in the country as far as gun rights go.
I now live in a free state, and it is a night and day difference. I hope your trip to America involves visiting some other states. If so, you're in for a treat!
So true
Yeah, NY / California are prob the least American places in the country.
@@moonday5521 Add Illinois to that list. If it wasn’t for New York, California, and Illinois we could be so much freer!
@@117rebel Illinois is bad, but we can still have regular capacity, not the 10 round crap.
Don’t forget California. Thankfully everything is starting to get overturned and deemed unconstitutional
And you was in New York, one of the most anti-gun places in America. Imagine if you went into a pro gun state
Yeah, as someone from upstate NY, this state is kinda ass. Upstate also has a very low gun law compliance rate, but it still sucks.
NY state not that bad before Hochul.
@@MbisonBalrog no, it's been bad for a long time. Especially since Cuomo's safe act bullshit
@@MbisonBalrog hey, but I guess it could be England, so I shouldn't complain
@@lincolnwaffle6038 at least you can have guns NYC basically can’t. No where is worse than NYC not even 🇬🇧
I love how sad/defeated that store clerk was when you asked him about mag capacity. "Yeah... ten rounds" *looks at the ground
I noticed that too
Recently relocated to South Carolina from Virginia, my new coworkers go hog hunting with nigh vision and a belt fed machine gun. Perfectly legal in the state by the way.
Edit: Just got this video recommended to me again and saw all the replies from a year ago. To answer a few of the comments there is no statute that limits the use of a firearm for hunting in SC other than certain state owned lands, IE no shotguns in this area or typical safety that says you must be X feet off the ground with a rifle (know what is beyond your target). Helibacon is a company in Texas that lets your do exactly what I said but out of a helicopter. See other companies in other states such as Porkchoppersaviation, Sky-Hunter Outfitters.
The states that I found online that allow you to use machine guns are, SC, TX, and OK
That's sounds like a great time.
"hog hunting with nigh vision and a belt fed machine gun"
One of the most American things I ever heard :)
@@0p3nh4ym3r you beat me to it, haha
FN, PTR Inc, Jarrett Rifles, ATI, AUTOMAG {yeah, those are back...
...now they work right} and PSA.
PSA owns several companies acquired ,before, in the The breakup of Remington.
Best state in The Union.
Anything is legal here in WV and NO permit required for concealed carry!
In the past, there was no difference between a hunting rifle and a battle rifle. The ar15 itself is a traditional design being over half a century old.
Correct. As a matter of fact, some AR15s are so old that they qualify as Curio & Relic guns.
Battle rifle is a term that doesn’t just mean a rifle used for battle. A battle rifle is a 30 caliber rifle, so an AR 15 is not a battle rifle.
The question should not be whether it is? The question should be why should we care? The right to bear arms should have never been limited as it has been and since the bruen case and the soon to be case with crs firearms. The NFA will be gone within 10 years.
There is No other right that states so imfatically that it is Not to be fuxked with. SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!
Wdym by traditional?
Love seeing a Brit that enjoys guns. That Garand is very accurate, but you have to sight it in.
Have 5 all Springfields...
They're also shooting at like 30 yards, it's guna shoot high as hell that close essentially no matter what
Like every firearm

@@jxy_vbn8156 the only thing i hate is that we let twitter run the county lol otherwise it’s a cool place!
As an American and a New Yorker, I thank you for not just decrying the types of firearms we're allowed to own or how easily we can get our ammunition, I understand that you are well experienced with firearms in the U.K but I appreciate that you respect our culture surrounding firearms and don't just default to calling us gun nuts like a lot of other foreign tourists from across the pond, Just discovered the channel today and I look forward to watching the rest of your journey in our beautiful country and your other content you produce
I'm a gun nut and damn proud of it😉
@@brucem6442 I know we use it as a tongue and cheek adjective for someone and there's nothing wrong with that, I'm just talking about those that use it as an insult
@@Max_Unknown498 gotcha
Gun nut here.
New York definitely isn’t anywhere near something I’d describe as a “gun nut” state Lmao
A person never forgets the first time you fire an M1 Garand. I think I've had more people shoot my M1 than I've shot it myself. It's just fun watching people's reactions.
Absolutely I remember going with a large group of people to the range with probably 100+ guns and alot of high end guns at that.. the m1 garand was still the one everyone including me wanted to shoot
Very true. I remember mine. The concussion cloud that formed at the muzzle was unique. Never shot anything that formed a basketball sized air pulse like that M1. I'm sure the 100% humidity had something to do with it but either way, very memorable.
@@Charsept The power of the 30-06 cannot be denied. The fact that the M1 will fire 8 rounds semi-auto gives a true sense of power.
@@nickking7666 Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang Ping.
What's funny is my first Hunting rifle at age 16 was a 30-06 that I got in 1984. A 1980 new old stock Remington Model 742. Then I got the opportunity to shoot a M1. I wasn't impressed. Wish I still had that Model 742. I was young and sold it not realizing that guns gain value over time.
Welcome to the States, great good to have you here. But why would you go to the most gun restrictive states!? New York and California is akin to the proverbial red headed stepchild in the gun community.
They're still *incredibly* liberal by the standards of most of the world.
yeah I know right, all I could notice was the neutered AR in the thumbnail lol, i’m surprised these guys called themselves a gun channel and the first place they go is new york💀
Same with Hawaii!
Maybe easing into it? Reducing the culture shock?
Transatlantic airlines don’t land in West Virginia. That’s why NY.
It’s comforting to me that there’s britts out there who know more about guns than me. I’m glad to see Americans aren’t the only ones holding onto their guns.
My father brought two Arisakas back from the Pacific Theater. When asked how or where he got them, the answer was always, "the hard way." The one had a dust cover and the action was almost impossible with it. Removed, it was smooth enough but you wouldn't want to have to do it in a hurry or under pressure. The other was worse. It was later production and it showed everywhere. Then they were smashed to bits in a tornado. Just occurred to me.... their 1st owners came to a bad end, and the 2nd owner's house was leveled. Maybe it was for the best? I still want one, though.
An even better rifle would be a K98 Mauser. My dream rifle is a K31, Swiss straght pull 7.5x55.
@@mikegriego3671 my dad has one at it is a very cool and well designed rifle up there with the swedish Mausers for sure
I'm glad your father always left it at "the hard way", I had a few beers with my Grandfather after I cam back from deployment. I learned about some of the horrors he experienced, that fortune spared me during my wartime service.
@@mikegriego3671 The K98 would be even better but the Arisaka is based on the Mauser action also after owning a K31 it's a great rifle but sadly 7.5x55 is not the easiest cartridge find and has gotten worse since covid. Also when you can find it it use to be a dollar a round now it's over 1.50 a round.
@@LavitosExodius That's about the same as .44mag ammo costs
I had a Garand in virtually brand new condition in Aust when we were allowed to have semi autos. I concur owning other rifles that I loved, I still get fond dreams about that rifle even to this day. Old George was right,, the greatest battle implement ever devised. God bless US !
Hope one day your countrymen wake up and decide to live as free men again. Hope that old Garand was lost and not turned over to the state.

Clad You Enjoyed The Trip To The States !! Iv Been 3 Time So Far And Enjoyed Every Shooting Visit ,
Hemingway was a very keen admirer of the mannlicher shoenauer, and for very good reason. It is perhaps one of the finest rifles I have ever handled.
I greatly envy you in that regard because I've only had the opportunity to shoot the 8mm Mauser and .30-06 M1917 out of all the classic bolt rifles.
This was great. Iooking forward to the rest of your trip!
I like the selector on my citori for single trap because depending on position, I can choose which barrel to load and have a different choke in each barrel, very useful
Great video and welcome! Next time stop out to Pennsylvania for some great sporting clays in Lehigh Valley. Exceptional experience!
The great thing about the Garand is we in the states could order them via US mail through the civilian marksmanship program. I did exactly this last year and the rifle was delivered to my door by FedEx lol.

@@tgsoutdoors Model 1911 pistols can be acquired the same way, except in the most restrictive states. Another great video!!! I visited the Beretta Gallery in NYC when on holiday pre-lockdown and they made me feel really welcome. It was a highlight of my trip. I think Hemmingway bought the Beretta because he was hunting duck in the lagoons around Venice.
Pre Covid on a New Years trip to NY I made it a point to visit the Beretta Gallery & had the same experience practically verbatim. It took a magic touch to get the side plates of the Sparrow Hawk to pop open for me too. LOL. The staff was very generous with their time & also shared the Hemmingway Gun, I have great photos. If your into the shooting sports & find yourself in NY I highly recommend you visit the Gallery.
Seeing an AR with an American flag hydrodip while also sporting CA/NY-compliant parts (basically neutering the rifle) is a class act in irony.
That must have been a particularly rough, late war example of an Arisaka. Most of them are very smooth. One of my favorite bolt actions.

Just had this video come up in my feed. Dont know who you guys are, but loved the vid. You like guns, I like you. I'm glad you got to shoot the Garand , the look of satisfaction on your faces says it all. Your smile made me smile. Lol!
7:41 basically NY, like a few other asinine states, is trying to deem various guns to be "assault weapons" based on arbitrary features that in no way contribute to the weapon's lethality. Collapsible stock for example, it's purely for adjusting stock length for different user fitments (like sliding back a seat in a car for taller passengers) and in no way contributes to the gun being deadlier. It's purely aesthetics that make the weapon more "scary" looking that they want to ban. That actually sums up these gun control initiatives pretty well actually: it's not about pragmatism or effectiveness, it's all about optics and politicians looking like they're actually making real change.
Shooting iconic weaponry like that is so much fun!!!! Glad yall were able to do this!!!!

You got to judge that Arisaka on the context that it was built for smaller Japanese men. And late war examples are rough in finish and fit to expedite production to meet the need of the imperial Japanese army. The Germans also made a lot of last ditch weaponry that are rougher than what the Japanese built. Pre-war examples of that rifle are fine and well built.

One quick thing about the arisaka, ive noticed a lot of first time shooters not pushing the bolt all the way closed before rotating the bolt. This is a problem because unlike a more traditional mauser action, the arisaka is a cock on close system, meaning you get resistance before you close the bolt all the way. My experience with arisakas is that if you operate the bolt properly it doesnt feel very clunky and they are actually great rifles
