- This is the first guitar I ever owned, a 1998 Epiphone Les Paul Custom in Alpine White
There is nothing particularly unique about this guitar, and it has been neglected for far too long. So I decided to put a set of very unique pickups in it, and suddenly I am playing it a lot more frequently now.
I wish I still had my first guitar
Can’t wait for the Synergy stuff
Nice. They sound a little warmer than I expected, but definitely nice to have 4 tone options in one pickup.
Yes, warmer than the old pickups, but more clear.
Fun site! Keep up the good work! 🙏
Thank you so much!
I’ve got a 1992 Robin Medley Standard that’s been sitting in a case for oh… around 14 years. Needs a total rebuild. Frets, eclectronics, tuners, bridge. It’s on my list. It was my go to for years. About time I give it’s due and resurrect the beast!
Definitely! Reconnecting with your old guitars is a great experience.
I don’t blame you. I don’t like having the exact same picks in any of my guitars either. It doesn’t work too well that way for getting “your tone”. But, keeps things interesting with your other gear choices. You have a new subscriber! Keep up the good work! Y
Thank you sir!
@@IamMusicNerd You are more than welcome! I hope you had a great holiday weekend! Looking forward to more videos!
When I started playing gtr in the late 70's the weren't the choices that there are now. The inexpensive gtrs were really cheaply made compared to today. The fact you bought a well made gtr (compared to what we had) plus you still have it congrats. Hang on to it you'll find that it will be better for you than any other.
Thank you sir!
lol, I have the same story. I bought my white glory MIJ jackson back in 2008 in order to start playing and getting serios. I started only when covid came!.
Glad to know I’m not alone! :)
Hello,
Nice video. I saw a guy's video who turned his neck p-rail 180 degrees so that the rail coil gets closer to the neck and the stratish tone pops up... Here you go!
ua-cam.com/video/HyfBvrnkDBw/v-deo.html
Go to 5:00 minute and listen to what he's got only rotating his neck pckup 180 degrees.
Yep, I did that initially on my Strat too, and it sounded good, but since I use the P90’s more, I turned it back around when I put it in my LP. Thanks for the link
@@IamMusicNerd the tone difference for the P90 coil is not that big if the pickup is turned upside down as far as it's polepieces move only 1cm.
However, the tone difference for the rail coil is way bigger as far as it moves almost 3,5cm from where it was when its turned upside down.
It worths at least a try as far as your les paul has more wood an vibrates more (set neck) than your strat .You can very have a good surprise there. :)
I've did that in the bridge position, testing tones from a 5-way circuit and I was impressed with the difference.

Good point. I did have it with the hot rail on the outside before, so I might move it back again eventually. Thanks!
@@relicguitar You have a great channel by the way. I just subscribed!
