This is a good video, exactly to the basics. I'd say OBVIOUSLY get screens and whatnot.. but nowadays some have lost the connection to free thought and imagination. Gotta be told EVERYTHING step by step and then bitch cuz "omg what if a critter fell in!!"
Dude what about a screen of some sort on the top of the barrel? What happens if you have a critter fall into the gutter? It's going to go straight into your water and you'll have to dump the whole thing. I put a screen at the top of the gutter and where the water goes into the top of the barrel.
Need to cover the openings with some kind of screen to keep mosquitoes out, and also connect a drainage pipe close to the top so any overflow gets drained away from the building's foundation.
Near as I can tell "bung" is another name for a "Bulkhead Tank Fitting" or "Tank Bulkhead Fitting". I think that "bung" might be just a regional nickname for it. I couldn't locate one at Home Depot (go figure) but did find one at Grainger Industries website. The UA-cam video, "Installing A Bulkhead Tank Fitting" explains a lot, as well.
Kelly Burns Gray I was really looking because I was about to make a video on how to make a rain barrel or a rain bucket, I just wanted to see what I was up against. I did the rain barrel video already I just cannot figure out how to blur my license plate out. Otherwise I did it with all the parts from Lowe’s The SKU numbers with that in the description. I did it all for about 30 bucks. Are used a brand new garbage can, it’s pretty neat
Remove the bung and wrap teflon tape to the threads! Actually you didn't need a bung, drill a hole that will accept the spigot and wrap teflon tape on the threads! How about the overflow hose fitting near the top of the barrel?
I just watched a Canadian spend 30 minutes doing the same thing. so you didn't torque your wrist using that drill? you didn't even wear gloves while screwing in that spigot. I'm surprised you didn't lose a finger. and how come you just screwed that bottom part in instead of putting the whole thing together and then sticking a hockey stick in there with duct tape on it.
That's a great idea for off grid .
Teflon tape dude!🎉😊

Michael Raduazzo in Canada I got them at home hardware. It’s a hardware store in the plumbing section
There is good advice and detail on how to fit the outlet connection here: ua-cam.com/video/FhcCXLbOKvY/v-deo.html
I might just do this hehe

Never heard of a “bung”, is there another name for it? The guy at Home Depot looked at me like WTF is that?

What are the names of the parts you use
Yo, what the hell is a bung? And where do I get one?
Voli Jay at the hardware store.
Search for a "union bulkhead". "Bung" is slang for this.
