My car is having amt gear unit, (it’s a fiat Punto evo 2009) recently it doesn’t engage in moving when I set the drive mode. It keeps shaking seeming trying to setting to its first gear. When I try to engage gear just to revers al of sudden, the car stops having a clutch slumping … I’m fed up with this hving no solution to recover it.
What unit? DuaLogic pseudo-automatic? If so, it is still MANUAL gearbox with hydraulic selector attachment. You swap the clutch just like in normal manual one.
@@GrandePunto8V yes it is. And problem was sorted out after changing the oil pressure pump and now there is an oil leakage from the pressure censor. Of the unit,
I just bought a 1.4 t jet but the GP not Evo. Nice car but i got it cheap and one reason is because it’s very hard to get any gears lol hopefully the clutch is ok (it feels fine) I suspect it’s the gear selector cables are seized. my other car Volvo v70 also has a dodgy DMF 🤣 I seem to love cars with these kinds of faults!
@@WMCS I may well do especially the Volvo! I can do the work myself but I’d rather meet you and have you do it once they give up. I won’t get the work done until the car becomes undriveable 🤣
@@newchannel3575 it’s not the gear linkage cables as it turned out. They are fine it was the gear selector on the gearbox that was seized up, I couldn’t find a replacement so I took it apart and cleaned it up and greased it. Now it’s ok but still not 100%
With all the different cars and engine layouts how does he know exactly what to remove and how? Amazing skill and with the restrictions of only having the car up on axle stands. I once replaced the clutch on a Ford Capri and I dont remember having to take this many components off.
This is called experience. All cars are similar in design. You don't have to remember all bolt patterns and so on. It doesn't work that way (that's not the point in being mechanic).
You could replace the differential only, laying under the car. But it's inconvenient (cleaning, using adhesives etc. to install the diff cover/housing back in place). Diff is a separate part, obtainable (used good condition). No need to throw away whole gearbox. Before the "bearings go", you can try to adjust pre-load, there is a washer/spacer under the short axle seal housing (4 bolts holding it). Range 2,00 - 3,00 mm if I remember right. Steps 0,10 mm. Install next size bigger (thicker). Don't wait until something really "pops" (then yes, you will be forced to replace entire gearbox). General tip: don't start the engine without axles installed. Differential parts ("gears") can pop out and lock the diff = you will blow the gearbox apart.
