Crazy I had no idea this was the first time they used Australian kangaroo cranes in the US. At the time of 9/11 Westfield owned the retail part of the world trade centre at the time Westfield was still 100% Australian owned. We are a country that remembers every year what happened to our American friends 🫂
Minoru Yamasaki, the architect of the Twin Towers, disliked the idea of workers hanging outside the buildings to clean the windows. Instead, he implemented automated window-cleaning machines, operated from the top of the towers. I used to work there, and beneath the surface, the World Trade Center had an entire underground city, invisible from the street. It housed its own police stations and utilities, supporting a massive operation that kept everything running smoothly while 70,000 people entered the Twin Towers daily.
The technology behind the construction was ahead of its time. The outer walls were load-bearing, and also the "kangaroo crane" was new to the United States. Very good documentary film!😊
01:45 in this video... Quote "The exterior walls were designed to bear much of the weight of the towers"... End quote..... So how did that "Pan out" then?

He also didn’t want wide windows. They were narrow because of this
@@spjfrat Because he had a fear of heights.

modern tech is underwhelming
I just liked how once they were completed, you had that King Kong remake taking place on them. Move over, Empire State Building!
As an Aussie, I loved the "Kangaroo Cranes" bit which I've seen before. It really was a World Trade Centre!
Super tall building construction is one of the fascinating things ever ☝🏼
It blows your mind how they move men and equipment to great heights.
Always wanted to be there, then 9/11 came... Sad.
Those high altitude shots were making me dizzy.
Look at how hopeful this film is… Look how it all ended. It is so sad.
