    You were correct on mounting it upside down, that's called a reverse mount wheel. Also for best results have somebody hold the tire halfway up the wheel while you blast it, it shows fit the air to fill the gap better and makes the space it has to cover less

    • @sparkythefiredog1234
      @sparkythefiredog1234 2 роки тому +1

      He shows the drop center of the wheel in the video, its a top mount not reverse. He flipped it to blast because trying to blast top mount on that specific wheel as he said is all open space until the last inch, can be very hard to seat a stretch on a drop center that big

    That's an impressive stretch! #MajorProps Here in Germany I do some tire stretch. I have special tools to cover the gap between the tire and the wheel. One cheep solution on less stretch can be a bicycle tube at the lower lip. The tire moves up and the compressed air can be shot directly in the gap. // Nice edit - like it a lot! 😎👍

    • @n0eLoL
      @n0eLoL  5 років тому +2

      A few people had mentioned this one to me. I have yet to try it. What would be the size of bicycle tire to use? Same size as wheel?

    • @WestBerlinCustoms
      @WestBerlinCustoms 5 років тому +1

      @@n0eLoL I bought some a long time ago, so I don't remember exactly. But the diameter should be the same size. These parts are dirt cheap, so I bought a few in different widths. I recommend to buy the widest possible. For Dirt-Bikes or Downhill bikes für example. Worked pretty well. Cheers, TOBi 👋😉👍

    It might not make a whole lot of sense, but I work as a tire mechanic and I’ve had people asking me to stretch tires out and it’s been a pain. What I’ve found is that do the same as you are having the larger part of the drop center seated first, than putting it vertical on the balancing machine so that the rim doesn’t move at all and there’s no downward force of the weight of the tire to blast. That way once the bead is atleast some what seated on the back there’s a smaller pocket on the bottom side of the tire to blast. And the top of the tire is somewhat centred between both the beads on the rim. Not easy to explain in text or this extreme of a stretch

  • @randomtoyotadude8952
    @randomtoyotadude8952 2 роки тому

    You did everything by the book.
    Would never use burning gas like some do..
    Yes fill the tire allmost to max air pressure. Then lower it after a few min..
    185 is kinda extreme on a 13 inch.. but look good. Just a tip, be carefull stretching premium tires. Some of them are not strong enough to be stretch to much
    Supose to be some of the best to stretch is Falken tires

    Back when it was the fad to put stretched 175/70-14's on 8-10" knock-off wire spoke wheels (usually on an 80's cutlass for some reason), we would simply inflate tubes in the tires ahead of time to help form a 'stretched memory' into the tire's sidewalls before mounting them.
    Think of it like this: tires at the shop were normally stacked by size, applying a squeezing (compression) pressure to them, and when you un-stack them they don't immediately return (relax) to normal width between the beads. By inflating tubes inside the tires ahead of time (days or weeks), we could reverse that squeeze and if we worked quickly, could get the tire mounted without a cheetah because they would momentarily hold that 'stretched memory' shape.
    We still required a signed liability (hold harmless) waiver, and warranty waiver.

  • @calebsanders6653
    @calebsanders6653 4 роки тому +2

    Keep the air hose connected to the blaster after you build some pressure. Make sure the small input valve is opening and blast the tire right as the overpressure relief is about to go. This will keep forcing air for longer after you initially blast it. Be careful tho, the blaster will kick like a mule.

      Caleb Nation i had 195/45zr15’s an they felt way better beating the fuck ou of it, i tried 195/50-55, 205/45-55 and 185’s aaand 215s. The 195s felt better in terms of quicker turn in, overall response and how planted it was on the road. (And the fitment was 10x better altough i wouldve preffered 185’s but since i could pull 195’s and stay as low i stuck to that

    No weights to balance? Wow. Like you, when I get a tire come up that says it needs no weights to balance, I turn the wheel 90 degrees on the balancer and test it again. Well done!

    Use a p3 or also know as a quick air. You can also tube the tire and seat one bead then pull the tube out the drop center side. Pop a 413 stem in it and push the tire to seat the other side.

    Mine use 185/55 to 16*9.0 on rear. 16*8.0 on the front. It’s kinda hard to mount new tires. So I always move the front to rear wheels. And put new tires on the front. It’s already pre-stretched so it’s easier to mount on the rear wheel. Front camber was neutral. But rear was -1.5’. I purposely let the rear wear the thread and finish off the tire.

    Those are reverse mount wheels, a ratchet strap would help you a lot, I've changed from low profile tires to stretching big super swampers on 15 inch wide wheels

    what happened in your successful attempt was the bead on the outside clung to the rim. i do it first time by seating the bead in the outside or inside rim with the standard bead breaker on my tyre machine then lift the tyre with hand until i close the gap and fill the tyre the normal way from the valve without using huge burst of air.

    To get a ridiculous stretch, it was the lube. It's always the lube...lol

    Something to consider with tore stretching is most if not close to all vehicles running them are show vehicles. Meaning they don't go on 100+ mile drives so the risk of a blow out is considerably lower then someone with a regular tire driving on a 500+ mile trip a few times a year

    I noticed. most of your attempts you were shooting air at the tire. when it went up you were shooting air downwards at the tire when it inflated on the rim 🚘🚘🚘

      all depends on the amount of stretch and the air pressure. a 205 or a 215 on a 8" wide rim is a normal and safe stretch, but what shown in this video isnt considered safe. but safe enough that you can drive normal with high air pressure. people who know a bit about what they are doing dont have issues with debeading and stuff. stretching a tire on a rim so wide it doesnt even meet the edge of the rim is considered dumb :p showcars often do that.
