Staying at a toxic job will make you miserable and you will take it home with you. Better to find something else if you can.
Agree
Agree. Extra money is not worth it if it causes divorce or worse
@impossiblypossible mental health is super important. hard to put a price on that
Toxic job environment will make you sick!
@@hikerhobby1204 yes !!! That is a fact. Stress is a killer of the body
I took a job that pays a third of what I used to make, happiness level is at an all time high and since I'm not roaming around wanting to KMS all the time, that opened my mind to other side hustles with my newfound energy :) I now make more.
this needs more likes
Absolutely fantastic.
Keep on doing your thing.
Leaving a toxic job/boss is worth the pay cut. No paycheck is enough to justify being abused.
I found every work environment toxic until I started working on my own. No drama. I love it.
People are toxic! I hear that.
Mental health is very important
Totally agree
Absolutely correct.
I’ll take happiness over better pay every time.
Me as well.
The new job, the moment you admit that your current work environment is toxic then it’s time to move on. A peace of mind is priceless.
I believe you mean peace of mind good sir
And it's happened before where the new job is even more toxic than the previous one.
PREACH!
I've learned to treat your job as a place to make money and nothing more. No personal feelings.
Depends on the kind of person. Some people are hardened, some people are more emotional. This is true for both males and females.
Sometimes people want you to be personal and that’s a problem when you don’t care to be. They will take it personally then it can affect you.
I took a pay cut to get a job that was less stress, less drama and more stable. I have a routine and am much happier now. If you can afford to do it, I highly recommend it. Your mental health and physical wellbeing are very important but often over looked.
I say work as little as possible, you only get one life. For me work and money isn't everything. A proper home life s is very valuable, got to find that balance, live below your means and enjoy every day...
Make sure you save enough for retirement
Amén 🙏
@@lr4454 just be healthy, have a job you live that doesn't feel like a job, then work till you die is the solution : ) banks and governments want you to save, better to learn to create new everyday
@@DrAJ_LatinAmerica I just don't wanna be relying on social security and complaining it's not enough 😊
@@lr4454 agree. I never want to collect it. I hope the delete the whole system.
Mentally committing to leaving a toxic job in X months will be a huge relief. The day-to-day problems will still exist but knowing there is an end will allow someone to feel better about going there everyday.
No amount of money compensates for a bad boss/work environment.
How is the first question not "toxic in what way"?
always will make more money when the environment is non toxic.regardless
Facts!!!
👏
There is something that bugs me about Ken's attitude towards toxic environment type of calls he tends to dismiss them and that is so terrible and can cause so much pain. Working in a toxic environment can be detrimental and at times many times in fact is not worth the money
Agree with u this is my first time watching them on the show however to be dismissive of someone's issue is sad. From what I was hearing I sort of felt that from him as well in a way. I wasn't sure.
He’s always like that. I can’t stand him.
I agree and I'm finding a lot of so-called experts just dismissing people when they call an environment toxic because the word toxic is thrown around so much nowadays. I understand that many people use words incorrectly or exaggerate but at the same time there are many of us who know exactly what a toxic environment really is and to have experienced it and are desperate or were desperate to get out for their own mental health. I really wish these coaches would be more understanding and ask more questions about the environment so they could understand that it's real and it's not just made up in people's heads and not everybody is exaggerating.
I gave up a career that I made twice what
I make now…but i no longer need to be on meds and I actually have time for family and friends now
It depends, if your being work place bullied and have PTSD 7yrs later like me, then heck no! Being homeless didn't give me PTSD.
60hrs and it's toxic.. bruh I won't even think twice!! I'm out. ✌️ Your mental health is more important.
Bingo. No way I will do more than 40hrs or very rarely 45hrs a week. I've got a life outside of work.
It's best to protect your mental health by leaving a toxic workplace.
Agreed.
Christy has a point to could cut back hours then just pick up side jobs if you want a little more money that month. Or just scale back to only two days overtime a week and current job.
How come there are so many bad work environments?
Can you quantify "so many"? I mean, if you've ever been in customer service, you hear the bitching, but rarely the good things. Same goes for calls into shows like this. "Dave, I work in a great place with great pay, should I stay in this job??" aren't call you're going to get.
@@larrybud not my point. What can employers do so that people don't have to call into talk shows asking if they should leave their jobs.
Companies allow these bad behaviors
Companies allow it
Employers allow it and encourage it by promoting the wrong people.
It would definitely depend on how the toxic environment impacts you. Sounds like he can handle his current situation which is awesome. I had one that eventually impacted my health. So I found a new position. Health is wealth!
Jordan stones II🇱🇷: Thanks for your comment, will introduce you to something totally different and quite profitable
I took a nearly 25k paycut because my boss was nuts. It was very hard to do initially, however, I regained my personal time, drastically reduced my stre level and as of to I am doing just fine.
I was in a very similar situation and I regret leaving my old job there’s a 20k difference in salary now financial issues are popping up at home because my significant other still spends like I made my old salary
Then the salary ain't the problem, your wife's lifestyle is....
Why are you letting that happen? Get your teammate back on board.
I’m looking into what this guy was; a change of jobs but for a pay cut. And it would be close to 15k less, but maybe more down the road and open up new doors plus it’s what I’m more interested in but like you I don’t know if it’s worth the stress of lack of finances.
If you keep the stress it could kill you. Is the extra money worth your health?
No.
I did, the stress wasn't worth the money
Staying at a toxic job will make you misreable leave
Do it. I left. I took a pay cut but now i work in a happy/ funplace and make more money than I did at my previous job. Doing the same thing.
It's crazy they are all looking at it as a "pay cut" when it's paying a higher wage (and still full time hours). Why not take the new job and try to negotiate some part time hours at the old place as long as it takes to achieve the goal.
@@saulgoodman2018 the benefits factor in, but OT doesn't.
@Mike Dickinson my point is its not a pay "cut" it was simply additional hours. Caller can then fill those hours as he sees fit, including part time work if income is the main priority
He makes 40K a year and at his current job with OT he's making 70K a year. The new job with crappier benefits will pay him 44k a year, You are stating well just get another part time job for the 20 hours at like 12 dollars an hour so you can work the same hours and make 10K less a year(plus scheduling issues, travelling issues etc.). Lon you have worked a job before true?
Simple math 60 hours of overtime is 70 hours of actual pay that's 30 more hours of pay regardless how you want to look at it that's a lot of pay and while he's trying to get out of debt yeah that means a lot
You have such a loving heart, Christy!😊
This happened to me about a year ago.. long story short - I TOOK THE PAY CUT
Good, especially with a family they want you at home more and in a better mood. They would rather have less money and a happy husband/dad.
If you can change something at your current job to make it better then do that, no work environment is going to be perfect. If not then yes leave and find something else because money means nothing if you are not happy/ fulfilled.
I moved from Flint to Phoenix. Turned out great!
Depends on the pay cut and the toxicity of the job
That is why spend less and invest more when this happens you can take pay cut
Spot on.
This poor guy. He sounds exhausted. 60 hours a week. OMG.
I'm not surprised with that workload.
Definitely!
You can only be treated as poorly as you allow yourself to be treated. You can leave or you can put your foot down and tell them to change the toxic situation. I Guarantee that you are taking that Toxicity environment home your family even if you don't realize it.
What if come March that other option is no longer available?
MAKE A LIFE, NOT A LIVING.
Your mental health should always come first. LEAVE
Agree👍🏿
No money is worth the soul
let's be honest toxic job doesn't just affect you mentally and if you are sick you cna't make money
Ken Coleman is the most obnoxious person on this show. Dave needs to get rid of him
The contrast when he is side by side with Christy is painful. She is so concise, clear and has good intentions. For his sake they shouldn't pair them together.
Two questions missed.
Dave: wait a minute, what do you mean by toxic?
Delony: are you safe?
He should work from home with to 20 hours he has spare.
He's a diesel mechanic. Working from home is likely not an option.
@@rcairforceone LOL
I'm looking at a 27% pay cut right now to get away from a bad culture. I WOULD like the job if it weren't for the politics. We do almost nothing but bullshit up the chain of command now. I need to be growing and creating value for my fellow citizens. The job I am applying for will be working with students, managing a lab and workshop. I would LOVE that kind of work, rather than sitting at a desk and going to meetings about the possibility of one day doing work, while at the same time being blamed for management not knowing how to manage anything.
Trust me its worth it!
I guarantee his wife and daughter would rather be in debt for an extra year and have their husband/dad at home 20hrs a week more. If I were him I would pass on this new job but look for a better 40hr/week job asap.
How about working until March and then find another job then.
I left a city job with better benefit higher pay for my happiness n peace of mind….. not worth it If I’m sad everyday go n there
"I know you were going both ways" 🤣🤭🤣🤭🤣🤭🤣🤭🤣🤭😭😭😭
He can stay long enough to get out of debt. Then go look.
What was toxic? I didn't hear what made it toxic.
People still live in flint Michigan, I'm surprised
Ask for a better amount to subsidize the insurance and tell them this is why you want the better offer.
Stick it out
You spend most of your life working. I would leave for sure
Or he would be prn or part time at his current job.
Mental health and physical health are paramount. Work some place where you love and you will excel enough to recoup your financial standing.
They work in unison
@@Ez3s Then work unidaughter. XD
@@wewhoareabouttodiesaluteyo9303 Missed your joke, but I was stating that mental health and physical health go hand and hand.
Horrible advice. Never stay at a toxic job because of the money. Your mental health is more important than a paycheck ever will be, and there are places that aren't toxic and still willing to pay good money.
Sounds like the wife wants him to get the money and have him at home for her to vent.

Another incel boy who hates women. He said nothing to support your inference.
Could just call and say “I work at Amazon what do I do?!”
He should quit ASAP
I took less to be happy.!
All this future future talk. I think ken needs to read the Power of Now!!! Life can stop on a dime. It’s good to have a plan but everyone is living for tomorrow mentality. No good and breeds discontent
Take new job…
Take a new job sooner than later
He goes both ways.
I would keep the 60hr job and get a part time job delivering pizza's.
So he would work 80 hours a week? Not good.
At least you have a job. Just be thankful.
Title of the video is ironic for Ramsey, eh?
Guy calls in about toxic env.. and instead of talking about that.. talk about all the BS around that..
God dave will be missed...
Why is the job toxic. Because he is working overtime? He is saying he can reduce his hours? I do not think the work is Toxic; I think he is working more than he is comfortable working. He has heard the term Toxic and is applying it to his situation. Pay the bills and reduce your hours when you are out of debt.
Jordan stones II🇱🇷: Thanks for your comment, will introduce you to something totally different and quite profitable
Get out of debt so you don't need to work yourself to death.
Good Lord YES!
I think the biggest problem is that he works 60 hours a week. God. I can barely get through 40. I think he should try working 40 hours a week at his current job and sees how he feels about it.
I drive big truck otr 70+ every week sleeping in a truck imagine that xD invest 1100$ a week in penny stocks tho so
@@ryanrok3064 Hats off to you, sir. That would literally kill me, lol. I need sleep and rest!

Told him he can free up 20 hours to work more? Maybe if work/life balance isn't important to him
