For a Diageo brand, he mentioned that it was incredible and a real top-class whisky. Mortlach brand is the premium Singleton.....

Thank you for mentioning that american oak can also be sherried and used to mature scotch! This is the first I've heard of this. I'm still very new to the world of scotch. If I'm not mistaking, this is why scotch matured exclusively in spanish oak is more expensive. Think I'm finally catching on thanks to these educational reviews.
How unfortunate for me due to not being a fan of the vanilla notes or sweetness imparted by american oak. Oh well instead of buying several bottles of drams like this, I'll buy many fewer bottles of the dryer spicy nutty drams matured only in euopean oak.

Yes they will be, as Diageo are releasing them all by early next year!

Or you can pay for international shipping and have them now. That's what I did after observing Horst's obvious love for it. I'm not usually one to make a purchase based purely on one person's recommendation, but over time I've come to discover that when it comes to sherried whiskeys, if Horst really likes it I almost invariably like it too (e.g., several different Glenfarclas offerings, Glendronach 18 Allardice, a particular Glenrothes, etc.). I look forward to trying this Mortlach and finding out if that continues to hold true.
