Just to give some recap here on this video. We talked about my top recommendations for places to live in the country as well as what the media says. My list includes Charlotte, North Carolina Washington DC, Tampa Bay and several others. We also gave the most recent census bureau data for population and growth. Overall it seems like Texas, Florida and Utah seem to be some of the favorite states for people looking to resettle.
Charlotte is NOT a favorite for people who live in NC, because folks outside Charlotte hate to drive in Charlotte. Same with Atlanta--traffic is crazy. Ever thought about the panhandle in Florida? Inexpensive and friendly but def. a hurricane risk. NC does have tornado and hurricane risks. We didn't get any snow in the last 2 years in NC. I think it is because of the HFCs (HydroFlouroCarbons), which is the replacement for the CFCs that companies like Dupont was generating that had put the big hole in the Ozone layer. The Ozone is shrinking since the world stopped using CFCs. However, the HFCs are causing more greenhouse than anything. Notice how AZ is getting hotter?
Summer in Payson AZ. Winter in Apache Junction. You’re right about the restaurants there do kind of not measure up. You didn’t mention Chico, CA where it’s gorgeous.
I absolutely love your UA-cam channel. A buddy of mine lives in Gilbert, and when I visited him we went to lots of these places that you talked about. Your channel is one of the best. You spend lots of time making these videos and they're very detailed and well made, and it shows. 😁👍

Love the videos Jeff thank you! I am from Boston and I'll give AZ and Texas my top two. I disagree about Houston over Dallas though. Thank you for all your knowledge though and AZ is the best hands down!

I moved to Tonopah Arizona bought a house there after I sold my house in Lakewood California. I started watching you in 2021. You’re the reason I moved here. Keep up the good work fine job.👍🏻🇺🇸
Same feeling with the east coast being cloudy in may. I just got back to my home in arizona 2 days ago after visiting the east coast for the first time! I went to PA, NY, NJ for a week and it was cloudy and rainy my whole visit , with just a little tiny bit of sun shining through Pa at times. But yes pa was beautiful with all the green, Philly was cool to see all the history! And NYC was definitely an experience, loved to visit it! but def could not live there, you're right about having to have a high stress tolerance to live there lol.
Phew! No mention of East Tennessee. Hopefully that means it may still remain a little bit if a hidden gem. Sure, it gets a bit humid in the Summer, but so nice to have 4 mild-temperate seasons. :) Sound like most all of these places are for the big city folk with major population centers. CoL has become a problem in the PHX metro. Lived there for 20 years and crazy how much more expensive it has become there in the last 5 or so years.
I've seen where the rent is more expensive in Knoxville than Philadephia. Knoxville is really too expensive for what you get. East Tennessee doesn't offer the work opportunities as other areas. I'm in NC. I do like hanging out in East Tenn. to get away, though.
@@tippytoes2358 Rent is insane pretty much everywhere, as is housing. However, most all the other CoL stuff is very affordable. Fuel, utilities, insurance, property tax, etc. Sales tax is high but there is no income tax. Knoxville is not a big city, so certain job types will be limited, but it does have plenty of work available. If you can work remote, it is a great place to live and raise a family. I love being so close to the Smoky's, easy access to go cross country N/S with 75 and E/W with the 40, and of course seeing all the sea of orange! :D
This is so subjective. We all have different preferences for weather and lifestyle. It's always interesting to see the different rankings. I think we can mostly agree about places that are not favorable to live, however. I'm currently in California and looking to move because of the rising cost of living here and diminishing quality of life.
100%. For me, I prefer the AZ summer heat over MN winters, or snow and freezing temps anywhere for that matter. The AZ summer heat is a dealbreaker for others. Not me.
I have lived in Phoenix for 28 years. I went to Knoxville Tennessee for a week and loved it There was a big difference but a lot of small towns and rural living. I looked at the real-state there and some good deals. It would be something new and different. Has anyone from Phoenix moved to Tennessee if so please let me know how it is to live there. Thanks
We moved from Oro Valley to outside Knoxville 2 years ago. We enjoy it here. There are 4 seasons but the winters are mild. Drivers in this area are less aggressive than in AZ. I highly recommend it!
I don't know what part of Idaho you are referring to, but it gets cold in the 6-month winter. I have lived here for 25 years and sub 0 degree weather is here everywhere winter.
Baltimore? OMG, wait until the summer, hot and humid! Drive between DC and Baltimore? Try the traffic! No Baltimore! Other states? Been there. Tucson is my number one!
Texas real-estate taxes are very, very High! and they do get a lot of rain, that's why I didn't move there! The white line on your screen is a skinny Alien from Mars, just doing its monthly check up on you . Loyal Subscriber for years! Just love your channel!!
I have traveled from NY to California and back. Along with frequent traveling up and down the east coast. And I have been to Chicago a few times. As someone who lives on LI (in NY), pretty much anywhere else is cheaper. We have some of the highest taxes, our roads are horrible, and jobs are hard to find. I have my eyes on Arizona. LI is flat and the weather has be crazy lately. I get that Arizona is hot but it isn't hot all the time..
Wintertime and spring is awesome Summers are Hot! But you do have the lake and the Colorado to chill on Nights on the patio in late evening are bearable
I live in Washington state now and it’s great only in summer months I’m in Spokane and I’m considering moving to the coast where it’s more green ! I was in Colorado before here and I miss the constant sunshine especially during winter months! Washington gets almost no sun over the whole winter and Spokane is just a boring place and it’s very barren without irrigation this place would have no greenery so I am considering the west coast so I can have more options for outdoor activities including the ocean and harbors and jobs as the cost of living is the same here in Spokane as Seattle area ! I would honestly be open to Colorado again or Arizona but I do love how much water we have in Washington but not so much here in Spokane besides the Spokane river ! My job is great though and no income tax!
I just moved to Mississippi 3 years ago. It's not bad. Hardly snows in winter. Depending on where you are . It's not bad. Costs of living way better. I have lived in Arizona all my life. Born and raised. I lived in Tucson and getting to high to live. I'm a firefighter by trade. It's easier to work in Mississippi. I do miss AZ very very much. I could barely get by in AZ
The list you are referring to must be based on very limited parameters. I'm retired, have lived in New Hampshire for 20 years and I'm moving to Arizona. New Hampshire has several major drawbacks for retirees and it seems to me that most people move out of New Hampshire when they reach retirement. My reasons are as follows; The weather is cold and damp from November thru May (7 months). I like being outdoors and outdoor activities are very limited during those 7 months. Housing prices are very high and not going down, no matter what the interest rates do. Real Estate taxes are very high also and only go up. You will pay $10K - $12K in RE tax on a $550K - $650K house. If there is an HOA count on paying minimum $300/month or $3600 per year on top of your real estate taxes. There are very few ranch style (single story) homes available - you know, the ones retirees want. You can choose between a ranch home built in the 1950's what are totally, hopelessly outdated or maybe a brand new one for $600K+ with high HOA fees and RE taxes. Good luck getting one because the 55+ developments with ranch homes are very small developments with maybe 100 homes or less. High demand but no inventory probably because no-one wants to be here in retirement. The largest cities in New Hampshire are not what you would call world class by any means and not even close to being up with the times. Regarding natural beauty, NH is ok but just know that most of the state is just woods and there are really no major attractions. To me the worst factor is the very long and cold winters: basically a waste of 7 months of the year and those other 5 months of good weather you will be working to get your house and property ready for the cold/brutal 7 months of winter. Not exactly an easy place to live.
Wisconsin is colder than New England states. If you haven’t been to South Dakota, you have to check out the Black Hills area. It is beautiful there. The weather is schizophrenic, though.
I live in Iowa. Been born here. I've been to 48 of the 50 states before. I'd either move to Texas or Florida, or Arizona. Western Arizona gets me closer than I currently am, to my son that lives in California. They're planning on moving to Arizona. Staying somewhat close to all of there families there. But not in that sespool of poo in California. Right now, Florida is appealing. But as you said. It's gotten extremely expensive to live in Florida. I like Houston and El Paso in Texas. Like Arizona, Iowa also has a state income tax. I'm used to it. But not a fan of it. Maybe a small patch of land in southwestern Arizona, where no snow. Id never move to a Democrat ran place.
