Ardyth, I am so happy you use things that are no longer available. It makes people like me think out of the box to use what I have & not rush out to buy the latest thing on the market. I do have a huge FOMO, but I am working through that. 😅 Great cards & tips.
I have some favourite old stuff that I will never get rid of, especially in the basics - like that striped stencil. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
I would never have thought to put a cover plate on top of another cover plate. Looked amazing. Loved all the cards Ardyth especially the bunny card. Thanks for sharing your tips.
Numbers 3 and 6 are my favorites. 3 for the colors used in that plaid are very reminiscent of my childhood. 6 for the black ink that made the other colors stand out and the thin lines of the stamp were elegant. Elegant Plaid? Yes indeed.
Ardyth... great summary. So timely...I was just thinking about summer plaids the other day. Definitely saw a couple methods I would like to try. As always thanks so much!
Hi Ardyth. Wow, as always such a great video and lots of techniques. I love plaid but I guess I have been lucky enough to have a huge ... and i do mean huge paper pad of assorted plaids that I have been pulling from for a couple of years. Best part is it was on clearance. But I will store your ideas away for when I need them. Thanks so much for the great demo. 😊🇨🇦
Ardyth, I love plaids but never ever thought to create my own, the perfectionist in me just resisted strongly. So I extend a huge thank you to you for showing me the charming beauty in hand-crafted nonperfect designs.
I think love of plaid must be in the Canadian genome. Well, wearing plaid anyway, for 8 months of the year! I chuckled at your matching attire and loved all the ideas to create different grids and checks with existing supplies. Thanks for the inspiration as always.
OMG Ardyth WOW Oh I'm so in Awe right now.....I LOVE LOVE LOVE plaids and was super excited when I read what you video was about but then your ideas totally blew me away and I'm shaking my head like a proverbial Bobble Head....and watching you create your plaids...my goodness gracious....you created them like speedy gonzlas and zip....zap you were done with #1 etc and more and more Brilliant and Ingenious ideas just kept coming....and I can't wait to do this!! Your Cards are Spectacularly Magnificent!! Thanks fo ryour OUtstandingly Detailed Tutorial and Sharing your Tremendously Terrific Tips, Tricks & Techniques!! YOU SO ROCK!!!! Joan Smith
Thanks for the inspiration. I have one large (8x10" ?) Striped stencil. I think it was created for scrapbooking. I now have lots of effects to try out with it.
Loving plaid, I don't think I could pick a favorite, but the pastel and bunny card hits the notes of Spring. My second purchasing blunder last fall was the Pinkfresh Dainty Plaid stencil set. It would have been perfect had I not ordered PFS's Diamond Plaid Stencil set by my own mistake! It is nice, but I really wanted to add the Dainty Stamp at another time. Oh well, lol. I have become verrry careful when I hit the Complete Order button! Thanks for the many great plaids Ardyth.🌷🌷
I think we've all done similar things - I just realized I bought something twice. Despite all my systems to prevent that! lol! It happens! Thanks so much for watching!
That's very sweet! Right now I'm actually in kind of a panic about what to do next, so I guess it will be a surprise for all of us! lol! Thanks so much for watching!
I love plaid. LOVE it. BUT I struggle with the dainty plaid stencils. No matter what I try I seem to get ink under the stripes when I’m inking. The C&9 turn about always ends up splotchy for me. I think I may need to try other inks. My C&9 inks don’t seem to work well. I need to keep trying because I ADORE plaid.
I know what you mean about any striped stencil - they tend to move because there's so much of it not held in place by the edges. I used my hands to hold it in place and blended small areas at a time, but it can still be tricky. As for the turnabouts, I'm assuming you've conditioned the new stamps before trying to ink them up. I've never used C9 inks, so I can't speak to that, but I was definitely glad to be using my misti so I could do multiple stampings. I have to admit that for background stamps, I kind of prefer cling to clear... maybe there's a video in there somewhere... lol! Thanks for stopping by!
Such great ideas! Can I share one more? Paper strips on a gel plate can create great plaids, much as you did with the adhesive strips. When you are done you also have a batch of colorful strips you can weave into a plaid too!
I am a plaid lover, too. For some of the techniques you have shown you can use a pen or very skinny marker to add lines with a ruler. I have esp liked the effect on the Buffalo Plaid.
Great video! I love plaids as well... thought it was so fun to actually make your own & then die cut from that...just so personal and unique! Thanks for a how-to video on a subject I've never seen before!!
Ardyth, I absolutely love your simple techniques! I am always WOWED by your talent to jazz things up or make things POP! I’m going to start asking myself, “what would Ardyth do?” - to make my cards sparkle! Thank you for all you do!!
Drawing straight lines...not my forte, however, I CAN use a ruler. LOL I love that you mix and match your product. I use lots of different dies/stamps/stencils from lots of different brands and I think it's so much more interesting to mix and match to get your desired look. All these suggestions were really helpful.
Black Watch? I think I would try to do that with plaid coverplate dies since it's really hard to get colours to show up on black. OR. Do it with navy and green cardstock, but blend black ink through a stencil? OH! Or metallic watercolours on black cardstock? Maybe too flashy. I'll put it on my list for future videos - now I'm really curious! lol! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching!

These ideas are genius....and gorgeous! Thanks Ardyth, you are awesome!

I just love plaid and just found this video. Can you give ideas/suggestions on what to use to make a Black Tartan plaid with the green and the blue?
Black Watch? I think I would try to do that with plaid coverplate dies since it's really hard to get colours to show up on black. OR. Siggestion; could use the round stylus on the scorrboard to make a plaid on The white circle
Ooh, clever! Thanks for sharing that! And thanks for watching!
👍✌️🙏❤️✨

Interesting! I thought Tartans were specific plaids, associated with clans. I've learned something new! Thank you for sharing!
