I do think RE4 is better, but I think Cold Fear is decent too. Wish it got remastered, it's not available on any current console.
If you want sea creature based enemies, play Resident Evil Revelations 1. One of the bosses was literally a virus infected whale. Story had no impact on overall RE canon, but it did have some interesting enemies.

New Heliproctor? I didn't realize we skipped Halloween and jumped straight to Christmas. I really love this era of games- one good idea (like with Resident Evil 4's announcement) and we see an explosion of games all aiming for the competitor crown, which led to so many interesting little gem-in-the-rough titles.

Looks like I subbed just in time for a new video! The swaying of the ship really is the coolest.
I had no idea the game ever left the boat. I should finish the playthrough I started like 5 years ago. But im busy replaying the original Resident Evil games so, it'll have to wait.
You don't have a melee like a knife for sword etc.. but you can slap pretty much everything if I recall.. if you smack them before they grab you you can get distance could still go into a stun lock, you can kind of turn that into an optimal strategy, but with the tank controls it's a little complicated.. I always found unless I was booking it in a straight line I just pretty much stayed over the shoulder, but if I recall as well not dissimilar to the way splinter cell worked.. when you switch from external third person to the over-the-shoulder, your your movement speed resets.. I don't know how that works on consoles, cuz back then analog stick speed regulation with a thing.. but getting back up to a faster speed from a dead slow crawl in the over the shoulder was always like a a thing that required far too many steps.. but these are these are distant memories LOL I just I remember that, pretty sure this is my first experience with tank controls so.. I remember initially being like why the f with anybody ever do this ever LOL I didn't realize that this was this was much much better than what it was before LOL.. but coming at it from the PC and where camera control was never an issue, and third person and over the shoulder third person were not really that uncommon at the time.. I just remember being like what why did.. why, just.. just stop spinning in circles.. just... There's only two directions you can go why why are you playing Ring around the Rosie with with.. with no one, in place!
If I had known that the much more successful analog to this didn't even let you move in the over the shoulder I would have probably been less harsh, but, creepy squeaking tentacles definitely creepy and on that account I was thoroughly satisfied.. man I wish I could get scared again from a video game or entertainment I just.. I really would like to have that back...
I remember that one! I never did beat it though. Have you played “Madison” yet? Supposedly it’s the scariest game ever made.
It’s too bad this game missed its potential (especially with the zombie sea monsters). The setting is really cool. I love spooky ships. It’s a good thing we got 2 Resident Evil games that take place on cruise ships.

Oh hey it was that resident evil game that was better than four but on account of hyper fixating on boat mechanics got the raw end of the release date window.. too bad cuz feel like this did what re4 takes all the credit for and better.
